Cultivating Disciples to Breakthrough – Chapter 1318

1318 Through the Fog

Chapter 1318: Through the Fog

Following the demon beasts that had similarly begun to move towards different areas where the fog was thin and seemingly lacking any golems to defend the place, Mui soon arrived in front of the thin fog together with two other demon beasts that had chosen the same location as her to try and breakthrough the fog and reach the palace complex on the other side.

Considering that it would only be beneficial to have demon beasts around in case they were noticed by a golem while moving through the thin fog, Mui didn’t mind their presence in the slightest, as she waited for one of the demon beasts to enter the fog before following it inside.

As for how the demon beasts were useful…

That was of course as a distraction in case they were discovered by one of the ancient golems!

Although… There was also a chance that she would turn into bait, but Mui didn’t really think too much about this, as she had already planned to throw out one of the two demon beasts following her through the fog in front of any golem that might be targeting her.

No matter how much she valued the alliance that she had managed to establish with the demon beasts due to the danger present inside the ancient city, there was no way she would die to uphold this kind of alliance. After all, she had not forgotten the fact that these demon beasts had been chasing after her to kill her beforehand.

In a sense, she did blame part of her current situation on these demon beasts, as she would have never entered the massive complex of ruins that had later teleported them inside the ancient city ruins if they had not been chasing after her…

Keeping her thoughts of potentially using the two demon beasts moving alongside her through the thin fog as bait, Mui slowly made her way through the fog, while doing her best to ignore whenever one of the other demon beasts trying to move through the fog ended up being noticed by one of the ancient golems.

In the end, even though Mui felt fearful of the danger involved in moving through the fog, she soon managed to successfully make it to the other side of the thin fog together with the two demon beasts that had been going alongside her.

Looking around for any of the other demon beasts that had similarly attempted to pass through the thin fog in other locations, Mui first discovered the fluffy wolf demon beasts that seemed to have been waiting for all of them to get through the fog, while another eight demon beasts had just passed through the thin fog.

In total, together with the two demon beasts that had followed her and the fluffy wolf demon beast. Only 11 demon beasts managed to safely pass through the fog.

Although not clear about the exact number of demon beasts that had been around before, as she hadn’t really bothered to count them, Mui was sure that at least half of the demon beasts that tried to move through the thin fog had ended up dying.

Roar…

Noticing this situation as well, one of the two demon beasts that had been following her through the thin fog, could not help letting out a somewhat sad roaring sound at the realization that half of the demon beasts left had ended up dying.

Not different from this demon beast, the rest of the demon beasts all let out similar sad sounds as they took note of the current situation. All feeling depressed at the loss of so many demon beasts. Although the reasons for this sadness varied, as some of them undoubtedly felt sad over the fact that there were less demon beasts around to provide a distraction in case, they encountered an ancient golem inside the palace complex and had to escape.

“Looks like it will take some time for everyone to recover before we start moving into the palace complex…” Muttering this to herself as she saw how the different demon beasts had come to some kind of consensus without her to have a small break after the scary experience of moving through the fog, Mui decided to take the opportunity to look at the palaces that towered above her not too far away.

From majestic palaces that still retained some of their former glory, to palaces that had long since decayed to the point where nothing more than a stone foundation was left standing, Mui was amazed at the different palaces that stretched on as far as she could see.

In the past, the palace complex should have been the location where powerful cultivators from the ancient city had resided and possibly also the core of the ancient city itself. Maybe even serving as the core of the entire mystic realm, as that would explain the teleportation formation in the ruins she had hidden away inside of before ending up inside the ancient city.

After all, if the ancient city was the core of the mystic realm, it would make sense that there were countless teleportation formations inside of it that led directly to the ancient city. Allowing the people living in the ancient city to easily traverse the mystic realm without having to fly long distances whenever they moved around the mystic realm.

Although part of her did want to leave behind the demon beasts and move into the palace complex on her own, she also understood that doing so would be a far more dangerous endeavor compared to moving together with the demon beasts.

So, with that in mind, Mui kept her focus on trying to observe the ancient palaces from afar and see if she might be able to pick up where a teleportation formation could be located.

After all, if the ancient city was the core of the mystic realm and teleportation formations connected to the rest of the mystic realm could indeed be found inside the palace complex, it would only make sense for them to be in some kind of central location that would be easily accessible.

As for recognizing the teleportation formation as a teleportation formation when she actually found it and not just moving past it… That was something Mui hadn’t thought about yet…

At least for now, her idea was to just move through any place she suspected of containing a teleportation formation and hope it activated like the one that ended up sending her and the demon beasts that had been chasing after her to the ancient city.

Anything beyond that would mean she might accidentally end up moving through a teleportation formation without even knowing that it was there in the first place. After all, all things considered, she wasn’t that skilled in formations, let alone capable of recognizing an ancient teleportation formation put down by an ancient cultivator far above any formation master present in the Star Shattering Sect.

Roar~!

Rooar!

As she was lost in her own thoughts on how to find a teleportation formation inside the palace complex, Mui was awoken by the sound of the demon beasts roaring confidently to each other as they seemed to have ended their break and were ready to enter the palace complex.

Finally!

Seeing this, Mui smiled happily as she followed after the demon beasts and began making her way into the palace complex together with them.

However, unexpectedly, the one leading the group of demon beasts was not the most powerful among them or Mui, but instead the fluffy wolf demon beasts.

The reason for this was not that hard to guess for Mui, as it was obvious that these demon beasts felt that there was something special about the luck of this weakest demon beast, thus deciding to leave it in charge of moving through the palace complex.

Considering that she herself had also been amazed by the luck of the fluffy wolf demon beasts when it came to staying alive, Mui felt fine having the fluffy wolf demon beast lead them through the palace complex. Feeling that the rest of the demon beasts were wise to leave the lucky fluffy wolf demon beast in charge of things-

RUMBLE-!

However, this situation changed quickly, as it didn’t take more than a few minutes of travel along the ancient paths of the palace complex before the fluffy wolf demon beast led all of them face to face with an ancient golem.

Roar!?

Roar…!

“Wasn’t it supposed to be lucky?!” Muttering this to herself, as she, similar to the surrounding demon beasts, let out surprised cries, Mui stared up at the massive ancient golem that had appeared in front of them.

Of course, if it was a normal golem, she, along with the rest of the demon beasts would have long since noticed it, but… The golem in front of them just so happened to be a special one. Completely different from the rest of the golems roaming the ancient city.

Special in the sense that there wasn’t any fog around it to hide it and alert anyone who got close about its presence…
