Chapter 779: Make the choice
“If I lose, then… I would have to follow your orders for three days, no matter what you ask for,”
Hera replied, as she glared at him after all, these words were highly disrespectful towards her.
“Yes, see that wasn’t so hard. So now that you understand everything, should we start the game here, or do you have some other place in mind?”
Jayden asked, as he picked up the paper slips and checked that she had not placed any kind of marking on them.
Only after he was sure she had not left any kind of visual mark or some kind of energy, did he look back at her face.
“Let’s play at some other place; it is too open here,” Hera said, then without waiting for him, she stood up and walked out of the room.
Jayden just remained seated on the chair and watched her leave. He was surprised at the speed she was flying.
All this time, he had been reading her expressions, actions, and even her behavior, which was necessary for their game, and Hera was doing exactly the same.
She had already understood the core of the game.
After walking out, Hera began to fly. It seemed she was planning on leaving Mount Olympus. Without worrying if Jayden was following her or not, she flew at high speed.
Within a few seconds, she had left Mount Olympus, then she kept flying for over a minute at her full speed. Maybe she was trying to test his speed or just trying to leave him behind.
After a while, Hera suddenly paused, then she glanced back, but Jayden was nowhere to be seen. Hera sighed; she went too fast and now would have to wait for him.
“So, we are going there? I think there is no one in that palace,” Jayden’s voice sounded. Hera suddenly turned forward and saw him standing in front of her some distance away.
‘When did he arrive here? I didn’t even sense his presence,’ Hera thought in shock.
On top of that, he was in front of her, which meant he was faster than her and even knew where she was going. She couldn’t understand what he did.
On the other hand, Jayden had just teleported to this place when he sensed that Hera had stopped.
His mastery over spatial energy had become so proficient that she wasn’t even able to sense the energy.
“How did you—Yes, that is where we will be playing the game. It’s a palace that belongs to someone I know, but since he is no longer in this world, we can use it without any issues.”
First, she wanted to ask a question, but then she just began to walk away. While she was speaking, it seemed as if her words had a threatening meaning to them.
“Well, this place will work just fine then, but make sure you don’t go back on your words,” Jayden said as he floated beside her.
The palace she had brought him to was quite big, but it was in quite a bad condition, as if there had been a war here, and no people were around. They directly went into the palace.
Hera waved her hand as two chairs suddenly pulled towards the center of the palace, and a table appeared between them. Then all the dirt disappeared from the entire palace.
“Let’s start. If it turns out that your information is fake, then I’ll make sure you die the worst kind of death you can imagine,” Hera warned as a violent aura surrounded her body.
“Heh, as if you can do anything to me. Stop trying to scare me and let’s just start,” Jayden said as he sat on the chair. Then she sat in front of him.
Jayden took out the two identical slips and checked their content first, since it was impossible to find which one contained life and which one contained death without directly looking at it.
Even the paper was not ordinary. Hera tried to see through the paper, but it blocked all her senses. Then he folded the papers back and held one in each of his hands.
“Let’s start,” he said, and Hera nodded. Then Jayden passed the slip from his right hand to her and kept the left one to himself.
“Make your choice.” Saying that, he sat there, not showing any kind of emotion. Expressions are one of the factors considered in the game.
Hera looked at both slips. Several thoughts were going through her head at the same time as she thought of different possibilities.
‘There are two possibilities: either he gave me the life slip or kept the life slip for himself.
There is a high chance that he would give me the life slip thinking that I am going to choose the slip he has, but what if he wants me to think like that and kept the life slip?
Each possibility brings countless other possibilities with it, but I have to think from his perspective,’ Hera thought. She didn’t move at all for the next dozen minutes and just stared at the slips.
Jayden kept his gaze fixed on her, as if he was reading her like an open book. Time passed just like that, and after almost twenty minutes, Hera made her choice.
“I am choosing the slip I have,” she spoke.
“Okay, then go ahead and open it. Let’s see if you won or lost,” he said with a small smile. There was no excitement or tension on his face.
“…” Hera picked the slip and unfolded it. There was some tension on her face; she hadn’t even imagined the possibility of her losing, after all.
“It’s… life,” Hera said as she showed her slip to Jayden. The confidence returned to her face.
“Oh, congrats. Maybe you are a little smart after all.” Saying that, he took the slip back and folded it again. Then after checking both slips, he mixed them up.
Hera maintained constant eye contact with him as he again held one slip in each of his hands. Then he extended his arms towards her and gave her the left hand’s slip this time, keeping the right one on his palm.
“Make your choice,” Jayden said with a small smile.
Hera again fell into deep thought. The difficulty of this round had increased several times.
Not only would she have to consider everything she did the last time, but now she had to even consider the last round and the fact that he chose a different hand.
Everything in the game consisted of a mind war, and the difficulty would rise with each round.
‘In the previous round, I chose the slip he gave to me, so will he do the same thing again, thinking I am going to choose the opposite slip this time?
Or will he be fine with the same as before? And he even used a different hand this time. What difference does that make?’ Hera was thinking of every possibility.
She didn’t think this seemingly ordinary game would put this much pressure on her head.
