Chapter 789: Serpent-2
*HISSSS*
The serpent opened its jaw wide and pounced towards Maia, trying to secure its meal. Then it planned to take care of Jayden and that small black jelly-like creature.
*ROOOAAAAARRRR*
All of a sudden, the loud roar of a lion sounded.
The serpent turned its gaze to look towards the Nemean lion, and it was quite surprised on seeing that dangerous-looking beast. But without stopping its movements, it charged straight towards Maia.
It just planned to go along with its original plan and then escape. After such a long fight, it was already quite exhausted, and even if it was at full strength, the serpent wasn’t sure if it could really defeat that lion.
Maia was distracted as she looked at Jayden for a moment.
She had completely forgotten about that serpent, but she was startled as she didn’t expect the giant snake to make this move.
But Jayden suddenly flashed in front of her. In one moment, there was no one, but in the next moment, he appeared out of nowhere.
Jayden was facing Maia and had his back against the serpent, who was still charging furiously.
“Look behind!!” Maia shouted, her eyes widening in worry.
Although the serpent was surprised by Jayden’s appearance, it further increased its speed to swallow Jayden and Maia in one go.
*BOOM*
Without even glancing back, Jayden slightly turned his body and waved his left hand, hitting the head of the serpent with the back of his hand, as if giving it a casual slap.
*HISSS*
The serpent released a loud hissing sound, its giant body was thrown several dozen meters away, blood leaking from its mouth and its head buzzing.
Both the serpent and Maia were equally surprised, but soon Maia felt relaxed and happy.
On the other hand, the serpent sensed extreme danger and knew it could no longer continue with its hunt.
But just as it was about to get up from the ground and escape, Eve jumped over it and hit the head of the serpent with her claws, leaving a long wound on its hard scales.
“You should sit down. Was this serpent attracted to your divine energy?”
Jayden asked, as he took her hand and pulled her towards a nearby stone. They both sat down on it, then she replied:
“Yes, some time after you had left, while I was sleeping, that serpent appeared out of nowhere and attacked me, but I was alerted by the surrounding animals.”
While she was speaking, her gaze was fixed on the battle happening some distance away.
Maia was surprised by Eve; not only had she changed her appearance, but aside from the lion, she had also become a different creature, which seemed even stranger.
“What kind of pet is that?” Maia spoke. Eve had easily overpowered the serpent.
“Her name is Eve. She is a divine beast and is quite special. Anyway, you are fine, right?” Jayden asked, turning his gaze towards Maia.
“Yes, I am just a little exhausted, but if you had not arrived here in time, I would have needed to escape from this place very soon.
And I didn’t want to leave my own house. The serpent probably noticed it too, and that’s why it was acting so aggressively.”
She replied, finally moving her gaze away from the fight. Even though she was detached from the rest of the world, she was really enjoying seeing and talking with Jayden.
While they were chatting, more and more wounds accumulated over the serpent’s body. It just wanted to escape, but every time, Eve made all its efforts fruitless.
She had gained some experience in fighting and was transforming between her two forms in just the right time.
She had already sent several parts of the serpent’s body into nothingness while using the strength and agility of the Nemean lion to engage in close combat.
The serpent kept releasing poisonous mist and shooting jets of poison, but Eve easily evaded or just made them disappear. The battle was going to be long, but the result was obvious.
After a while, when Maia had regained some of her stamina, they both stood up and walked away from the fight. Still, Jayden was keeping a part of his concentration there so that Eve wouldn’t get injured, even accidentally.
“This place is quite messed up. Are you sure you can stay here?” Jayden spoke, looking at the surroundings. The serpent had caused quite a lot of destruction.
“Yes, slowly I can bring back everything like it used to be. I don’t want to leave this place; it has already become a special place for me.” Maia replied, her gaze softly moving all over the place.
Then she raised both her hands and closed her eyes. Taking in a deep breath, she chanted something in a language that Jayden couldn’t understand.
A light green-colored energy began to surround her hands. Her divine energy was mixed in this energy, but it was nothing in comparison to the divine energy of Hera or other Greek Gods.
Jayden moved his gaze around. Several rays of green light left her hands and connected with the ground. Then all the broken trees and plants began to revive, the broken branches were reattached.
But just after a few minutes of her ability, she stopped and panted lightly. Maia was still exhausted, but she had just performed it to display her ability to Jayden.
“That’s beautiful, the ability to give life,” Jayden mumbled. Though it was not exactly giving life, she couldn’t revive a tree that’s completely dead.
“Hehe, but I really didn’t expect to see you so soon. Originally, I thought I wouldn’t be able to see you for the next dozen years. That was really surprising, so I’ll cook something really delicious for you.”
Maia spoke with a beautiful smile on her face. While talking about different things, Maia collected different ingredients and had to use her ability several times.
Then they returned towards the cave where Maia sleeps.
“Just give it a little time; everything will be ready really soon.” Maia spoke, a beautiful and cheerful smile on her face. She really enjoyed her secluded life in such a great place, and Jayden’s presence made it much better.
After nodding, he sat down beside her and observed the battle between the serpent and Eve. The serpent was out of breath and energy; it could no longer even release poison or create tumors in the land.
*BANG*
With a loud sound, Eve finally crushed the head of the serpent. She was in her Nemean lion form, standing with one of her legs resting over the head of the serpent, and then released a loud roar while facing the sky.
“She actually won without getting a single scratch. Eve is quite strong,” Maia praised, glancing towards the beast, which roared after obtaining the victory.
“Yeah, want to see something special?” Jayden said, as he gestured for her to keep watching Eve.
Maia paused her cooking and just stared at Eve. After releasing the roar, the giant lion, which looked even bigger than the serpent, tore the body of the snake.
