This was the beginning of Ella and Jane’s friendship. They became inseparable after that day, and no one dared mess with Jane as long as Ella was around.
She couldn’t be expelled from the school because her parents were big contributors to its development.
Ella didn’t come from a middle-class home.
On the contrary, her family was quite wealthy, and they sent her to an all-girls school to straighten her behaviour because her parents considered rock music devil music.
Meanwhile, Cleopatra was the treasure in their parents’ eyes because she wasn’t shipped off to some faraway reform school.
She attended the most prestigious schools around the world to not only give her exposure but also train her on basic etiquette to represent the family properly.
Ella was the black sheep but she didn’t care about this, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to find her path as long as she remained under her parents’ thumb.
But the final straw was her expulsion from the school, there were only so many times they could turn the other cheek and around that time, Ella was disowned by her parents.
However, they didn’t leave her stranded, she might be a rebel but they still loved her in their own twisted way and gave her a fixed amount of money for her to get by.
This was how she got into college and luckily for her, she was in the same college and room as Jane.
But this was where her spiral began, Ella found it difficult to find her way in college.
College granted her a certain level of freedom she had never experienced in her life, there were essentially no rules and she could live as she deemed fit.
Ella, who had been sheltered all her life until now, went loose.
“College was the place to experience” or so they said, and that was how her relationship with drugs began.
It started with weed but it slowly evolved into harder drugs, Jane didn’t know what to do.
She was still a timid lady that was scared of Ella so she watched Ella spiral out of control.
This continued throughout her sophomore year but it got bad to the point she had to be admitted into a hospital temporarily but that didn’t do anything.
She went right back to her habits with her grades plummeting into the ground.
It was until her second year that the unexpected happened, on a fateful night.
*Fuck! That shit was good!” Ella muttered. She didn’t know where she was or who was with her.
She just loved the high she was experiencing but this also meant she blew through most of the money her parents had given her to set up the foundation she would use to build her life around.
She stumbled into a lonely place but she had no idea how she got there, a couple of men were trailing her.
A drugged-up girl? She was an easy target and each step she took into this secluded area endangered her life.
Ella didn’t have any idea that she was being followed but it was too late by the time she knew she was in the wrong place.
“Hey, sexy!” One of the men said, grabbing her by the arm while the other two chuckled.
Even if she screamed, it didn’t matter because no one would hear her.
“How about we have a little fun?” The man said but the moment Ella showed any signs of resisting, she was smacked right in the face, forcing her onto the ground.
“Hold her down, I’m going first,” One of the men said, and the two quickly pinned her to the ground.
Ella was too weak to fight back and what she wore made it easy for them to have their way, it was a skirt.
Ella was aware of what was about to happen, feeling the filthy hands creeping up her legs to remove her panties but suddenly, a loud smack was heard then what followed was an agonizing scream.
Ella refocused her eyes and noticed a slender figure.
For a brief moment, she saw Jane.
Jane used a rock to smack him over the head but the others pounced her in no time.
They focused their rage on her, completely ignoring Ella. They replaced their lust as the man beat Jane until she was a bloodied mess but by the time they wanted to violate their bodies.
A voice called out in the distance.
“HEY! STOP RIGHT THERE!!” The man screamed at the top of his lungs and the men ran away, the man that Jane had hit over the head with the rock was bleeding profusely from his head.
This allowed the police to extract his DNA from the bloodied rock and arrest him. Naturally, they got his lackeys as well.
Jane and Ella were admitted to the hospital and this was their first meeting with the doctor.
Jane was timid and never spoke to Ella but she stood up for Ella for the first time, this was the first time that Ella had had anyone stand up for her.
Ella realized that her decision didn’t just affect her but Jane as well giving her a new sense of responsibility.
That was the last time that Ella did any form of drugs until now.

Kyle was astonished by this story, he expected some teenage angst but this was a bond he couldn’t have foreseen.
And Jane standing up for Ella? This Jane?
That told him how important Ella was to her and Kyle couldn’t contain his smile.
“God, that was intense,” Kyle muttered, he didn’t know why it pulled at his heartstrings the way it did. Kyle couldn’t help but feel a sort of familiarity with the story he had been told.
“A-Are you crying?” Jane questioned but Kyle was confused about what she meant but she was right.
A teardrop had escaped his right eye despite it not being teary prior.
Kyle wiped it up but he also didn’t make a big deal out of it.
“I guess your story moved me more than I thought,” Kyle said with a smile and this gave Jane a feeling of comfort, it was like he had momentarily connected with her emotional wavelength and felt exactly what she did.
“Do you have anyone important to you, Kyle?” Jane asked but Kyle couldn’t give a direct answer.
“I don’t know…”
