‘Wait, will me accepting her vow lead to my soul getting connected to her too or not?’
=It…should be fine? Prior instances of Kaijin blooded individuals swearing fealty to a Kaijin Lord didn’t really do anything special.=
<Then again, this is also the first time we’ve seen a cross generational vow in regards to kaijin and lords. So, we’re kind of in uncharted territory right now.>
‘Why am I the pioneer for this shit?!’
<=If it helps, you’re not gonna be the only one who’s going to be having to deal with weird new shit.=>
‘What does that mean?’
<=You’re gonna have to have your girlfriend raise their hand up in about a couple of minutes.=>
‘Why?’
<=You’ll know when you’ll know.=>
‘Great…’
…Meanwhile…
In a recently disturbed tomb, still out of sight in a mysterious manner, the unrotting body of the Storm Queen was still laying there unperturbed and unmoved.
However, that wasn’t to say the tomb was lacking in activity.
Grasped in the Storm Queen’s hands was a rather tarnished looking trident that had almost been taken but was ultimately left untouched once the previous visitors had failed to pry it from her hands.
But now, for reasons unbeknownst to most, the trident began to rattle and shake.
Almost as if it was trying to answer a call that had yet to be given…
…
When the kaijin first appeared, the people of Undertow didn’t know what to feel exactly.
They were used to these monstrous warriors looking like sea creatures, i.e. Tortallion and his daughter to a lesser extent, so having them appearing so incredibly varied from one another was mildly jarring.
A part of them had hoped that the next Kaijin Lord would’ve appeared among their ranks, and once they did, they’d be able to not only restore Tortallion to his former glory, but also recreate the Storm Knights. Another part of them also hoped that the Storm Queen’s lost daughter would return as the Kaijin Lord.
As such, when they saw this girl(Jin Fang) who looked so much like their lost queen, escort a black armored warrior(Zhen Liu), while walking alongside an Imperial Princess of the Pearl Scale Empire(Jinju Ren), and declare the armored warrior to be Kaijin Lord while addressing a trio of Kaijin that looked and felt like the Storm Knights of yore, they were shocked.
Who was this outsider?
How did he know to come here in their hour of need?
Why did he show up now of all times?!
It was while these questions were brewing in their head that an even bigger shock occurred.
The sudden how of fealty from one of their strongest warriors,Terra.
[Do you truly understand the significance of your words, daughter of the Storm Knights?]
[I do, my lord. Kaijin are to live freely and die brilliantly, all while maintaining loyalty to the Kaijin Lord.]
[Hmmm. Very well. Arise, Terra.]
It was no secret in Undertow that Terra was the adoptive daughter to Tortallion. Hell, it wasn’t even a secret that she was the daughter of Shockheel, a kaijin who was once known in the past to have regular dalliances with mortal men.
Many people in Undertow still respected the Storm Knights and anyone related to them, so seeing one of them bend the knee to this new Kaijin Lord was probably a good indicator that he was the real deal.
However, there were still doubters.
Some people say to not look a gift horse in the mouth, but others say to always doubt when being offered a free lunch.
As such, perhaps emboldened by the presence of a crowd, a member of it decided to speak out of turn.
[Terra, daughter of Tortallion and Shockheel. I, the current Kaijin Lord accept you’re fealty. And I shall also-]
[Hold up! Hold on! Stop everything!]
“What the fuck?”
“Who is that?”
“Wait, isn’t that one of the council members?”
“That’s Feng Wei!”
From the crowd, a grizzled old Aquarii warrior made his presence known by floating upward for a moment before landing in the clearing that the Kaijin had created.
Those aformentioned Kaijin were just about to pounce and rip this old bastard to shreds, but the Kaijin Lord signalled them to stand down with a wave of his hand.
Enough blood had been spilled today, there was no need to add on to it.
Well…that and one other reason.
…
[Captain, are you sure? All it would take is a twitch of the blade and I can take off his head in a second.]
‘I am sure, stand down.’
[This is an insult to not just us or you, but to the girls as well!]
[Just let one of us do it! There won’t be any body, if that’s what you’re worried.]
‘Again guys, chill. Besides…I get the feeling this isn’t my argument to have. Oh, by the way, can one of you guys tell Jin Fang she’s gonna need to raise her hand in about…a minute.’
[Why would she need to-wait…oh…I sense it now.]
‘Yup.’
…
Byoom!
From a hidden alcove on a small island that had nothing more than a shack on it, a blurring streak of bronze metal suddenly appeared.
And began making it’s way over to Undertow.
Byoom!
…
Besides, he kind of wanted to hear this next part.
[Is something wrong?,] the armored Kaijin Lord asked in a deep voice that caused one to shudder with fear.
Feng Wei, despite being an Aether Lord, couldn’t help but to shudder as well. Thankfully(?), the Kaijin Lord wasn’t the target of his ire.
It was the woman who looked like the younger Storm Queen.
[I can accept you being the new Kaijin Lord, the fact that you have them by your side is already proof enough,] Fang Wei capitulated. [What I can’t accept is your choice of companionship.]
[What? Art thou jealous?,] Kaijin Lord joked.
A stifled laugh reverberated through the crowd, but this slight didn’t bother Feng Wei in the slightest. He was a man with a purpose after all.
[Kaijin Lord, is it safe to assume that these two young women are your concubines?]
[I wou-]
“Yes, we are,” the dragon princess interjected before Zhen Liu could dismiss the notion. “We couldn’t help but fall in love with his power.”
To help emphasize this point, the aformentioned princess purposely grabbed the Kaijin Lord’s arm in a lovey dovey manner.
The Storm Queen’s daughter would’ve done the same, but she had a feeling she needed to stand her ground.
Which turned out to be the right call.
[Right, figured,] Feng Wei nodded before turning his attention to the Storm Queen lookalike. [So, it’s obvious that she’s a princess from the Pearl Scale Empire, but what does that make you? Are you also an Imperial?]
At this question, Jin Fang let out a decisive snort before answering the question with a tone of voice she learned from her adoptive mother.
[My name is Jin Fang, daughter of the Storm Queen, Jin Miavora,] she replied with a decisively firm tone of voice. [And I do not appreciate being confronted in such a manner, sir.]
The firmness in her voice startled the old Aether Lord, but only for a moment. After all, he had righteous indignation on his side.
[Well then, since you can speak the language of Chaos, let me be clear, I don’t believe that you are her daughter,] Feng Wei began to explain. [She died over three hundred years ago, with her daughter disappearing at the same time. If you say you were granddaughter, I’d believe that. But if you were to claim your her daughter than your cultivation must be significantly higher than what I am currently sensing to maintain an appearance as youthful as yours.]
After this statement, Feng Wei leaned in closer to emphasize his next few words.
[I don’t believe for a single second that you’re her child.]
[Oh? Do you now?]
[Yes…I do.]
[Hmmm.]
Jin Fang didn’t say a word to this obvious provocation. Instead, she simply looked Fenh Wei dead in the eyes and lifted a hand up.
As if she was waiting for something to appear in her hand.
[Huh? What are you doing? Are you getting ready to slap-]
Byoom!
“HOLY SHIT!”
“WAIT A MINUTE! THAT’S-! THAT’S -!”
“IT’S STORM QUEEN’S TRIDENT! IT’S [Leviathan’s Crest]!”
Seconds after Jin Fang raised her hand, a bronze trident that radiated as much [Chaos] as a kaijin, if not more so, suddenly appeared without warning and landed in Jin Fang’s hand.
With the weapon in tow, Jin Fang slammed the butt of it into the ground, causing it to crack and salt water to jump from the cracks.
[That proof enough?] Jin Fang taunted the stunned Feng Wei.
Although…internally…she was freaking out.
…
‘HOLY SHIT, WHERE THE HELL DID THIS THING COME FROM?!’
‘That came from the Storm Queen’s…hang on…Jin Fang?! Why are you in my head now?!
‘What? Oh! Oh, what the fuck?!’
[Oh, I guess we don’t have to play messenger anymore.]
[But we just got that job.]
[Well, now we have new ones.]
