Kaijin View, Old and New
[For the love of Chaos, what’s the point of a super powerful cannon if we can’t use it?! It’s even being environmentally supercharged!,] Hurricroak complained while smacking the aforementioned
cannon.
[It’s not our fault, it’s because of all that concentrated Dragon Force,] Frosttusk pointed out as the voice of reason.
[I know, but bullshit!]
[Calm down, Hurricroak. We just need to figure out a weak spot,] Nepherage informed her.
After Tor____ made his grand sacrifice play, the amount of [Chaos] in the waters of the [Abyssal Lands], at least around Undertow, skyrocketed to an absurd degree.
This was the first time in their short existences that any of the kaijin felt this much [Chaos] in the environment, including even the [Library of Nowhere] and that weird moment involving the [Storm Queen’s Galleon].
As such, the kaijin couldn’t help but want to flex their newfound powers and really give it to the [Shadow Sovereign].
Unfortunately, they couldn’t.
Due to the aformentioned concentration of [Chaos], Tor____ had managed to suppress the [Shadow Sovereign]’s dragon force into two places.
First, the giant beam of energy that was hammering down on Tor________’s defensive ability as he kept walking forward.
Second, an area that was about one to two feet around the [Shadow Sovereign]’s body.
In other words, the kaijin were unable to to lay a single finger on the [Shadow Sovereign] due to all of the dragon force being actively concentrated around it.
Regardless of whether they launched an attack from a distance or fired themselves at the mechanical bastard with the cannon
to get close, the kaijin’s attacks would simply bounce off of the skin barrier of dragon force.
This was the first time the kaijin had ever
felt completely useless.
Hell, they at least had a chance to deal
damage to that Grub abomination guy by…
By…
Wait a minute.
[Hey guys…do you think we’re able to do
combination attacks on our own?,]
Hurricroak asked.
[What, like we simultaneously release
attacks that merge with each other? A coordinated attack?]
[Not like that, Frosttusk. I mean like…when
the maestro uses the Godoku Gourd with us as the payload. You think we can do that without him?,] Hurricroak proposed.
[Oh.]
To briefly explain the difference between Hurricroak’s proposal and what Frosttusk was thinking, it can be best compared to the difference between multiplication and addition…and values.
A coordinated attack simply stacks the attack power of all the warriors together, because they’re using similar moves, while
a fused attack multiples it all together because they’re incredibly different moves, which leads to weird shit.
Many warrior groups have attempted to
perform fusion attacks in the past, with middling results. However, the kaijin had a surefire way to do this in the form of the
[Godokue Gourd].
There was just one problem.
[Our Lord’s still fighting that angelic knock-off though.]
[I know, that why I suggested we do it ourselves.]
[Ah.]
At this moment in time, Zhen Liu was
unable to facilitate their usual method of combining their powers by shoving them into a magic toy-like gourd, as such, the kaijin would have to figure this out on their
own.
And so far…they had one really bad idea,
and one that required a bit more help.
[Well, I had this one idea back when I had arms,] Springerdermain metioned to the others. [But it would require Razorstella to
be with us at the moment.]
[Why?,] Frosttusk asked.
[She would be the payload. Have you
wondered what happened if we managed to launch her at mach ten speed?] [When…when did you come up with this?,]
Nepherage asked with genuine concerns at
the idea of any of her fellow kaijin going that fast.
[Watched a movie involving robots.]
[Ah.]
[Then we go with my plan,] Hurricroak declared while pulling out a shamisen from who knows where. [We recreate the
instance that allowed us to form
Ragnarocker!] [Whoa, what?!]
[Bad idea!]
[Whoa, what the fuck?]
Thanks to their shared spiritual connections, Springerdermain was aware that Hurricroak, Nepherage and Frosttusk had somehow combined into a singular, overwhelming force of nature. However, he was unclear as to how they did it. Which was why he was surprised seeing
Frosttusk and Nepherage, arguably the fiercest of the Ringmaster’s kaijin, acting in such a scared manner.
Whatever this method was, it has to be incredibly daunting.
[Look, I got perfect pitch, so I should be
able to recreate the sound that caused our
bodies to get all wobbly,] Hurricroak boasted while tuning her instrument.[After I play the note, we just have to deal with a
couple seconds of pain and-]
[Couple seconds my giant frozen ass,] Frosttusk interjected in a surprisingly heated manner. [It felt like I was getting trampled by a thousand dragon-blooded mammoths one after the other! No way in
this world or the next am I going through that again.]
[Besides that, you have tendency to get creative with your music,] Nepherage added. [One flare of creativity and you
could make a note that causes to explode or something.]
[No, I won’t! I am way too much of a…wait a minute…what the fuck was that surge in energy right now?]
[I…I don’t know…]
[It feels…old?] [Wait a minute, where are those neo-knights flying towards?]
…At the exact same time as the above
scene…
Above the [Darkshell Citadel], Wave Breaker, Slug-at-arms and Shellvalier were still doing their damndest in the destroying
the external turrets.
It took them awhile to figure out a method
to bring them down in an efficient manner, but they eventually managed to do so. [Aim for the ones in the back now!]
[Aim for the ones in the back now!] [Which back?]
[My back!]
[Got it! Scavenger’s Art: Crazy Toxic Tentacle Dance!]
The shadow of a giant jellyfish-like monster appeared behind Slug-at-arms for a brief moment as the slug-like kaijin released a barrage of spear strikes against the turrets.
These strikes were anything but normal though. None of these strikes were strong enough
to break the turrets, but they were coated
in a strong poison that was so caustic and toxic, that it might as well have been acid. Acid that made the turrets soft enough for
Shellvalier and Wave Breaker to go in for the kill.
[Hammering Geyser Fist!] [Wavebreaker!]
BOOM! BOOM!
In rapid succession, a wave-like blast of
sword energy and a giant fist came crashing down on the turrets and rendered the extrusions into piles of sludge. At this point in time, the Neo Storm Knights had managed to wipe out half of
the artillery points.
[Ya know, big sis, I can’t endlessly produce toxins like this,] Slug-at-arms complained in a slightly exasperated tone of voice. [Even I got limits.]
[Fret not, brother!,] Shellvalier laughed while patting Slug-at-arms’ back a bit harder than necessary. [We have already eradicated half of those annoying cannons! All we have to do now is dig out whomever
is powering that cannon and bring them to
the captain! It’s a piece of cake!] [Indeed, Shellvalier,] Wave Breaker agreed. [And perhaps when we do so, we’ll figure out a way to take down that mechanical monstrosity.] [I hope so…]
Looming above the Neo Storm Knights, the
[Shadow Sovereign] was maintaining a
continuous beam of energy that hammered
constantly into Tor_____’s monstrous body and shield.
Despite this continuous assault though, Tor______ managed to maintain a sturdy pace as he walked closer and closer into
striking distance against the mechanical
monster.
[Ya think our predecessor will be able to
get in close enough to settle the score for
real?]
[I’m not sure, Slug,] Wave Breaker admitted. [Sir Tor____ has great defensive
ability but his offensive skills are lacking.
He’d need an absurd amount of power
to…to…do you guys sense that?] [Sense wha…oh.]
[Why does this feel so…familiar?]
At some point during the ongoing battle, several distinctive sources of [Chaos]
began to appear one after the other.
While the Neo Storm Knights had yet to visualize such things, they recognizes that
these sources didn’t spring up from out of nowhere.
Rather, from their perspectives, it felt as if several ancient wellsprings of power were suddenly renewed after a long and lonely
drought.
And now these wellsprings were coverging
on to one point: the air
space above Tor
‘s head.
[Hey…should we go and see what the heck
is going on?]
[Probably? I mean…it feels like we should
be involved…what do you think big-and she’s going. Come on!]
Before Shellvalier and Slug-at-arms could come to a consensus, Wave Breaker had
already began to making moves to convergence.
As the trio swam on, they began to glow with a dark blue light.
Here ends the sync.]
[Is this…what…my
brothers…had to handle…on their own?! Damn…no wonder…there was barely anything left…] Despite having returned to [Chaos],
despite growing over a hundred times his
original size, Tor_______ could barely keep it together as he approached the [Shadow Sovereign] in a ponderous manner. [No…no! I can do this! Just…a
little…further…].
