Chapter 246: New Rooms
“Rooms?,” Frosttusk asked.
“As in housing?,” Nepherage parroted.
“As in, some place we can take over and decorate as we wish without worrying about all the other utilities necessary to run a household?,” Hurricroak added, sounding a bit excited.
That was all the kaijin needed to hear before bolting as fast as they could to claim a door. Well, Hurricroak, Spring Brawler and Razor Maiden bolted. Frosttusk slowled pondered to the closest one, well Nepherage just grabbed one that wasn’t occupied by any of the others yets.
As the kaijin grabbed the handles of their respective room doors, a subtle tingle of energy could be felt in their fingertips.

Nepherage’s sanctum.
As Nepherage opened the door to her room, she was happy to find that the décor was rather…simple….sort of.
‘Straightforward and solid. Just what I needed.’
Decorating her room was a simple set up, a desk, a bed, a chair and a weapon rack with decorative pieces for now that wouldn’t be out of place in a soldier’s barracks.
The only thing that seemed odd was the fact that all of the above was actually made of obsidian. Except the mattress, that was made from what her lord knew as “memory foam”.
Nepherage took in the room before walking over to the bed, and flopping into it.
This was a new feeling to her…and she liked it.
‘So this is what a bed feels like…I don’t mind my place on milord’s wrist, but this is quite nice…,’ she thought to herself.
Nepherage also took this opportunity to also check one of the pillows that came with her bed, and pulled a long white feather out of it. She studied it intently, mentally comparing it to her own feathers.
‘Meh. Mine are better.’
And with that thought, she flopped onto the bed.

Frosttusk’s room.
‘Finally…someplace I can…warm up better,’ Frosttuk snorted while staring at the room before him.
The room’s design was akin to the interior of viking longhouse, very wooden with animal furs doubling as both decoration and cushion in some places.
However, unlike a traditional viking long house with a simple fire pit in the middle and maybe a pot hanging over it, there was a pool of lava just bubbling and boiling away in the center like a jacuzzi from hell, and it was exactly what Frosttusk wanted.
Without much ceremony, and having only to take off his earring containing his wooden zako, Frosttusk proceeded to slide into the lava pool and just…relax.
‘Hmmmm. Wonder if I can get my hand on some mead…’
Being unable to join her master, the wooden zako simply transformed from her earring state and just sat by the poolside, watching him zen out.

Hurricroak’s Music Room
‘Hell yeah! The room magic thingy did read my thoughts and feelings! Hello anachronistic instruments!,’ Hurricroak excitedly proclaimed as she entered her room.
Out of the three main kaijins, her was the most out there, because it looked like a mash-up between a singer/song writer studio meet bedroom. The kind one would see on a dramatic series being broadcasted on a certain pale blue dot in the milky way.
Lining the walls were electric guitars, electric basses, an electric violin, tambourines, a saxophone and even keytar.
In the center of the room was a large drum set, complete with symbols and a wholly necessary taiko drum next to it.
‘Shoot~ If I had known about these drum kit things, I could have learned that before learning the shamisen. Would have left a much bigger impact on the audience,’ she thought to herself as she played a quick riff on the drum set, “welp, at least now I know way more instruments than before.’
But the biggest draw to her, was this little device that she recalled being called a “record player” and a box of “vinyl records”.
Hurricroak took out one of the records in the box, admiring the picture of a baby swimming in the water, before taking out the important vinyl and placing it on the record player.
‘Recording one’s songs in order to sell it…would that make my job obsolete or more in demand?,’ she thought to herself.
As the song on the vinyl began to play, Hurricroak found herself enraptured by the song.
‘Ooooh. Dark yet full of soul…wonder if any of these vinyl records are any good…’

Razor Maiden’s dancing space.
‘Huh. How strange…it’s like it’s…incomplete,’ Razor Maiden thought to herself as she stared into her new quarters.
For the most part, it looked a dance studio.
Mirror walls, a bannister to support oneself and a decently smooth wooden surface that made it easier for one to perform complicated movements.
However, that was only applied for the first ten feet into the room.
Everything beyond that was a weird formless void that Razor Maiden couldn’t touch, literally. She tried poking a claw at the void before her, only for it to get blocked by an invisible wall of some kind.
But…she didn’t mind….sort of.
‘If these rooms…represent me…does that mean…I am not yet, whole?’
As that question came into her head, the endless void before suddenly looked a tad smaller, while the dancing studio she was standing on began to look a bit…bigger.
‘Hmmm. I hear music from next door…must be…Hurricroak? Such a somber tune…wonder if I can…’
Razor Maiden wasn’t sure why, but something in the song she was hearing made her want to move. Not only that, it was in a way that was very different from her usual ballet.
‘I have arms and claws…perhaps I can use them as my focus instead?’

Spring Brawler’s Playroom void
‘Oh? It. Is. Empty?,’ Spring Brawler thought to himself as he stared out into the emptiness that was his room.
Spring Brawler was relatively new, even by protokaijin standards, so his room wasn’t exactly…there.
For all intents and purposes, all he got was an empty floating void…filled with random toys that just seemed to be floating there like platforms in a video game.
‘Oh! Toys!’
Seeing his targets, Spring Brawler grabbed the edges of his new door and walked back into his spring arms were taut. Once they were ready, he launched himself towards the first toy he could grab.
Which in this case…was a slinky.
‘Oh! Like. Me?,’ Spring Brawler thought to himself as he held the toy spring in his hands.
It took him a bit of time to realize how to make it bounce back and forth between his palms, but when he did, he was enraptured by it.
‘Wonder if. I can. Do this. too?,’ Spring Brawler thought to himself as he began to bounce back and forth unconsciously on his feet. If he had a little more room awareness, he would have noticed that a floor was beginning to form beneath him.
‘Want to…float?’

The concept of kaijin rooms was actually rather new to the library, normally the kaijin would just be accessories or in their normal state as they travelled with the kaijin lord.
But the new kaijin lord came loaded with all sorts of outlandish and strange new knowledge and ideas that Logos and Pathos couldn’t help but make use of them, especially the more fun sounding ones in Pathos’s case.
Pathos lightly clapped her hands before spreading them out, displaying an absolute smorgasbord of rooms and extensions he wanted to add to the library.
Pathos swatted away several of the superfluous plans before grabbing one specific one, depicting what looked like a colosseum straight out of a sci-fi setting.
A smile formed on their face as they thought about all the things they could do with this particular idea.
Pathos summoned up another display, showing a list of the library’s inventory.
Granted, she wasn’t the only weird omnipresent being that was enjoying the new technology upgrade…
