Chapter 266: Oh there’s the balance patch…
‘Okay cool, it didn’t remove them from the catalogue, neat.’
=Normally it would, but your “computers” were inspirational on our part. Digital documents, how quaint.=
Like any good controller/tamer/leader of a bunch of crazy minmaxed monsters, Zhen Liu had made it a habit to regularly check on the status screens of all the kaijin at least once a day…usually.
As such, he was rather familiar with how the kaijin were able to fight as well as other small details.
However, after the whole debacle involving the Wolfe family, the Corrada heart attack and his apparent engagement announcements, he hadn’t been able to review as much.
“Wait a fucking minute…,” Zhen Liu grumbled as he flicked through the kaijin stat screens. As he re-read the entry one of his kaijin, he noticed something…weird.

*Bing-Bong*
The author of this work is including this small break in the story in order to give the readers at home an opportunity to guess, what Zhen Liu saw that is causing him to get weirded out.
Is it:
A. Overly detailed descriptions about the kaijin in the same manner a baseball card and/or art book provides way too much information?
B. Overly detailed images of the kaijin in various states of nudity when in their human forms, which causes very strange feeling inside of Zhen Liu.
C. A small detail that should have been explained by a certain pair of magic anachronistic shapeshifting weirdos.
…
…
…
Have you locked in your guesses?
Revealing the answer…now.

Zhen Liu flicked his focus back to Frosttusk, noticing a little discrepancy in the pattern of Rankings…namely, the addition of the word “digesting”.
“What the fuck?,” Zhen Liu muttered as he stared at the irregularity.
Zhen Liu saw that there was a little question mark icon on the upper right corner of the word and was about to press it to figure out what it meant…until….

“WHAT THE FUCK?!,” Zhen Liu exclaimed when he saw that right before his eyes, with no fanfare, no warning, no…anything, Frosttusk had somehow become his strongest kaijin…and was now stronger than him.
As far as Zhen Liu understood, the kaijin shouldn’t be able to surpass him in strength, at least not by whole stages.
The last Zhen Liu had checked on his own cultivation progress, he was only at Aether Master Second Ring….maybe.
‘Wait…oh shit.’
As a reincarnate of another world, Zhen Liu was intimately familiar with the ideas of having familiars…and immediately understood the implications/dangers of having the familiar stronger than the master.
‘Shit, shit, shit, please don’t be breaking, please don’t be…say what?’
However, when Zhen Liu checked his bond with Frosttusk, he noticed that it was still surprisingly strong. In fact, it looked stronger than before.
Namely because it went from a vauge looking golden thread to looking like a chain made of gold…covered in runes.
‘What the flaming fuck?’
Unsure of how that could be possible, he turned to the only two beings who had any knowledge of his formula.
‘Logos, Pathos, what the fuck?’
=Milord, you’re gonna have to a bit more specific.=
‘Fine, boiling this down to three questions.’
=Alright.=
‘First, what the fuck does “digesting” mean in the context of these kaijin? Second, how the fuck did Frosttusk surpass me in terms of stages? Three, how did the bond between us get stronger as opposed to suddenly breaking due to him being significantly stronger than me?’
=Pathos, over here.=
In his head, Zhen Liu could hear the two of them deliberating for a bit before answering.
=Good news milord, we know what happened.=
‘Well?’
=Well, for starters milord, remember when you used [Possession] on your grandfather? How Frosttusk suddenly power him up?=
‘Yes.’
=Normally when you use [Possession] on someone other than yourself they only get a temporary power boost that allows them to use abilities associated with the kaijin.=
‘Right and…?’
=You shot your grandfather, who was apparently at the cusp of breakingthrough anyways, with Frosttusk, giving him the push he needed and then some. When your grandfather broke through, some of the excess energy ended up inside of Frosttusk, giving him the energy he needed to breakthrough as well, albeit a lot more slowly. Hence the “digestion”.=
‘…are you telling me, I could have the kaijin possesses people during a breakthrough…and have them piggyback on that power to elevate them quicker?’
=Essentially.=
Zhen Liu’s mind reeled at the fact that apparently his power was way more broken than anticipated, but that didn’t still answer the most important question in the room.
‘Alright… why hasn’t Frosttusk gone rogue this very moment? I’ve read this book, seen this show and play this game before, normally when the created familiar gets stronger than the master, they get disobedient, so…why?’
While Zhen Liu couldn’t see their faces, he could hear what they thought of his question when they answered it.
=
Zhen Liu wanted to smack them at this moment.
