The writer of this work is fairly certain nobody reading this is projectile proof, and damages to the one’s brain is not worth a chance at seeing weird spooky magic shit.

Back at the Royal Reef Hotel, a strange-looking trunk covered in talismans, owned by a certain Madam Venus began to suddenly and violently jump and shake in the confines of it’s dressing room closet, as if something needed to break out of it.
Clack!
Boom!
A few seconds later, something did.
The trunk jumped out of it’s resting spot, crashed into the floor and flung itself open, allowing a dark purple mask with a rather evil looking design to fly out of it.
Wreathed in a dark aura to match the design and color, the mask flew out the dressing room door and through the hotel until finally flying out the door and on to the city streets.
Once it was outside, it began to gloat midair for a bit before flying towards the direction of the warehouse district, avoiding every obstacle in it’s flight path.
Well, almost every obstacle.

At the very entrance of the warehouse district, a young couple had just arrived and were beginning to take notes about all of the damages being done to the warehouses and the district as a whole.
“Finally! We’re at the warehouse district! I hope we made it in-holy shit!,” Jin Fang commented.
“That’s… that’s a lot of bodies…at least the kaijin are thoroughly protected,” Zhen Liu lightly joked, while staring at zakos locked in heated combat with a bunch of creepy robed motherfuckers. They were either assassins, cultists or both, and frankly, he didn’t care which.
“Huh…you know, I’m aware that you’re able to summon monsterous warriors and an army of weaker ones on the fly, but I honestly keep forgetting what that entails exactly,” Jin Fang pointed out, “you don’t seem to abuse that facet of your powers that often.”
“Yeah…on the one hand I’m annoyed I can’t cultivate like normal because of all…that. But you know, benefit-cost. Besides, I’d rather not get a target painted on my back because of it.”
“Fair eno-wait…what’s that weird energy coming from behind us?”
“Huh? What weird-” BONK! “GAH!”
As soon as Zhen Liu turned his head to see what Jin Fang was sensing exactly, a strange purple ball of light had squarely beaned him in the forehead before continuing it’s merry way.
“Ow! What the fuck?”
“Are you okay?!”
“Yeah, I think so…just a bit of bruuuuu…”
“Uh oh.”
Zhen Liu stood there for a couple of moments, his eyes dialating to an unhealthy degree…before promptly passing out.
As he did, a life flashed before his eyes…not his life though.
|Alice, have you finished your meditation session for the day?|
|Of course, mother|

=Calm down, I’m trying to figure out why too…well on the plus side, it appears this particular type of energy isn’t particularly aggressive or hostile.=
=But…huh…that’s weird.=
=Well, it’s not one type of energy, it’s two. One appears to be some subtype of darkness aether while the other…huh.=
=Well…take a look, and tell me if this signature looks familiar to you.=
=Yup.=

[So why aren’t we just tearing these bastards new assholes?]
[Patience, violent one, we still have three injured kaijin on the field and they know we’re here to rescue them. We gotta make sure they don’t turn out a victory into a pyrrhic one.]
[Tsk! Fine.]
[Just so you two know, I do not approve of being labeled as injured!,] Hurricroak protested, [I am at most, very exhausted.]
[No time for semantics, Hurricroak.]
[Bah!]

As the kaijin trio of Nepherage, Hurricroak and Frosttusk continued to lay where they were, unable to twitch a finger, Archanidame and Lacerage were busy staring down the Blue Shadow leaders, waiting for them to make a move, a feeling that the shadow leaders also shared.
This staredown went on for a while, seeing as one wrong move was game over for the person who made it, but that didn’t mean the kaijin were silently figuring out their plan of action.
Nope, instead, they were critiquing their opponents color of aether armor.
No, really.
________________________________________________
[You know…for a bunch of killers called “Blue Shadows”, you think that all of their leaders’ aether armors would be blue too,] Archanidame pointed out, [it’s good they’re somewhat color coordinated but still.]
[Huh? What do you mean they’re not blue?,] Lacerage asked in confusion, [they all look blue to me.]
[No, only that one with the horns and oni armor is blue, Ogrim I think? The other three are cyan, aquamarine and azure. I mean they have all the demonic look down, what with one looking like a gargoyle, another a mezuki and gozuki, but still…]
[Are you seriously critiquing their armor now? Out of all times?,] Nepherage pointed out.
[Yes, why wouldn’t I?]
[Because that one in the back is charging an attack!]
[Oh thank gods, finally some action!]

As Ogrim, Dane, Balos and Fili stared down the two insectoid demons, the four of them slowly regained their wits to an extent.
They might have been acting like mindbroken zombies a couple minutes ago, but when they felt their lives getting threatened, they managed to restore some semblance of thought.
Enough to coordinate at least a semblance of an attack.
‘Going to try and…blast them both…cover me…,’ Ogrim told the others.
‘Sure.’
As soon as he was given the confirmation, Ogrim began to concentrate his aether into his right hand, making a series of one-handed seals as he did.
However, this little action did not go unnoticed by the two demons.
“Trying to be tricky are we?!,” the lacewing looking demon woman growled as she suddenly disappeared, reappearing in a gust of a wind as her hand came down like a drill, coated by a whirlwind.
“Intercept!”
“Attack!”
However, before she could land the hit on the charging Ogrim, Dane had intercepted the attack with an iron morningstar that he pulled from the storage treasure on his hip.
At the same time, Fili and Balos rushed in to try and counterattack, pulling out a spear and long sword respectively, charging both up with dark aether.
But as they tried to bring down their respective weapons, they suddenly found themselves being held back by an invisible force.
No, not an invisible force…spider threads.
“Didn’t your mother’s teach you it’s rude to strike a lady from behind without permission?!”
The spider demon waved her hand, causing the spider threads they were attached to jerk back and pull Fili and Balos directly towards her.
As they came flying, the spider demon readied her spider legs.
“Allow me to drill some manners into your skulls. [Venmous Drill]!”

“You know it’s dangerous to stick your arm out like that?! [Falling Star Kick]!”
“Insolent bitch!”
Clang!
Seeing as her opponent was just standing there like an idiot with her arm out like some kind of anime villain summoning a super weapon, Razorstella found it prudent to interrupt this action with an aether art that enhanced her leg with the power of starlight.
Unfortunately for her, Fia Venus was surprisingly adept at reacting and blocking her attacks. Frankly put, it was starting to get annoying how defensive this woman was.
“Why don’t you just take the L and scurry off somewhere?,” Razorstella taunted, “your deal has already gone sour and I’m pretty sure your allies just got buried at sea. Besides, this stage is only big enough for one star.”
Fia was tempted to taunt back, calling Razorstella a talentless bitch and an uncreative whore, but held her tongue.
Fia wasn’t very good at taunting enemies…that was someone else’s job.
And in a couple of seconds, she would be here.
“What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?”
‘What is taking her so, ah…there it is.’
[Howling Golden Spectre Stirke!]
“Again? Did you want an encore that bad?!”
Fia didn’t respond to Razorstella’s latest jab, opting to just launch another attack at her, the exact same one from before no less.
And just like last time, Razorstella redirected the attack back at Fia.
However, unlike last time when it got deflected back to her, Fia opted to grab a glowing purple ball of light that Razorstella failed to notice zip right pass her and dodge the attack that had been redirected.
As the ball of light settled into Fia’s hand, it turned into a purple, devilish mask.
“If ‘Fia’ isn’t enough to break you, then how about we let ‘Alice’ eclipse you instead?!”
After making this proclamation, Fia placed the mask on her face, causing a strange disturbance in the aether.
