Chapter 531: Time to fight
With the kaijin now acting as his forward party, Zhen Liu was just about to rush out of the room and go after them, that is until something dawned on him.
“Thank you for your service, feel free to either hang around here or go back to haunting Zhen Li,” Zhen Liu told the spectral zako.
*Woo…*
He had just remembered that he was in the middle of being informed of possible shenanigans coming from the main branch clan prior to Razorstella’s sudden news update. Like a good leader, he had to make sure none of his subordinates were left hanging.
The spectral zako left soon after being dismissed, leaving Zhen Liu now alone in his room.
‘Alright, time to go and see whether or not these scion fucks are as tough as Razorstella say they are-wait a minute…one last stop before I go…,’ Zhen Liu told himself before going out the door and making a turn towards a hallway, as opposed to the hotel’s exit.
“Made a promise about this, gotta keep it…,” he mumbled to himself as he went down a hallway until arriving in front of a particular set of doors.
“I sincerely hope this doesn’t end with me having my underwear swapped again…”

=Phew, I’m beat.=
=Surprisingly well. I think those kids are at the point they could punch out most Aether Acolytes and weak Aether Masters.=
=Anyways, what has been happening with our lord? He finally made it into the city okay? Did he meet up with his other relatives?=
=Oh really?=
=Hmmm…oh! Oh…=
=…=
<...think they're gonna survive this?>
=Probably, but…I’m pretty certain they made a couple of enemies this evening.=

[Thundering Decapitator!]
Like a bolt of lighting, Lei Zhong rushed towards the group of the Zhen branch clan scions with one of his hands straight as a blade, covered in sparking aether that jumped across in arm in obvious arcs of blue energy.
<
Lei Zhong swung his arm like it was an axe-blade, aiming to decapitate Zhen Xing’s head from his neck in one fluid strike and end the life of this annoying interloper.
<
<<[Lunar Totem: Pangolin Scale Guard]!>>
<
However, just before his attack could make contact, Zhen Hai moved to block the attack with an attack of his own, but Zhen Yue proved herself faster as she condensed her aether into her arm, causing a tattoo with a clear pangolin motif to form.
A scaled shield manifested shortly after and blocked the decapitating strike, locking Lei Zhong into place as well.
A buzzing sound could be heard as the lightning attempted to break through the scales, only to be dispersed by the layered defensive measure, unable to fully electrocute the shield or the user wielding it.
“Hey! That was my attack to block!”
“Really? That’s what you’re complaining about?,” Zhen Tai asked.
<
<
<
<
<
<
<
*POW!*
<
Zhen Yue caused the scales on her shield to react in an explosive manner, sending them flying with a huge burst of energy and forcing Lei Zhong to take several steps back as a means to defend against the sudden counterattack.
“Oh shit, thanks for the save Xiao Yue,” Zhen Xing honestly stated.
“He was about to take my head off.”
“No problem,” Zhen Yue replied, “now get the fuck out of the way before he tries to cheap shot you again.”
“That…that’s fair.”
“Hold up, I’m going to join you,” Zhen Tai added.
A part of the reason why Zhen Xing was confident in stopping Lei Zhong’s abuse was that he didn’t detect the man’s cultivation at the time of doing so.
Even when he was in-contact with the guy physically, he didn’t think the man was that strong.
Regardless, Zhen Xing understood that there was still an obvious power disparity between himself and Lei Zhong.
Even if he wanted to fight, he’d probably get destroyed real fast.
‘Huh…wonder if Zhen Liu would be willing to help me get stronger…,’ Zhen Xing thought to himself as he went over it the check on the beaten slave girl, followed by Zhen Tai who, while willing to fight as well, also understood that he’d just be in the way.
However, as Zhen Xing and Zhen Tai cleared the area, Zhen Yue and Zhen Hai got into a small argument.
“Man, I was going to block that.”
“You were too slow and you barely know any defensive arts. I could literally tell you were going to try and punch his ass out before he could land a fatal blow..”
“Which would’ve worked!”
“No it wouldn’t, that guy was faster than you. You might’ve landed a heavy blow, but he would’ve landed a heavier one on Zhen Xing.”
“But-”
“Hey!”
“Huh?”

‘Are you fucking kidding me?!,’ Lei Zhong cursed as he stabilized his footing.
‘It’s bad enough I got tripped up by some brackborn yokel, but now I get repelled by another one?! Unacceptable!’
Three times.
Three times this evening, Lei Zhong was humiliated by three different people, in front of his associates, and while all of them had done so in different ways, all three instances corporal punishment as far as he was concerned.
‘Once I’m done with this bitch, I will take out that bastard. And after him, Sao Mei will be severely punished!’
The first humiliation was the fact that the slave girl he had brought to act his attendant for the evening had ruined his new robes by spilling water all over him.
Did she think that just because she had a pretty face that she could get away with such travesty?
It was only right for him to punish her.
The second humiliation was when this brackborn wannabe hero dared to interrupt him while he was busy administrating punishment.
An Aether Acolyte no less!
Did they not teach people over in Stampeding Bison to respect those stronger than themselves?!
Lei Zhong would’ve been doing their continent a favor by sullying his hands and ending the life of this disrespectful cur.
But before he could inflict such punishment, the third humiliation occurred, in the form of some random group of brackborns showing up and some brackborn bitch countering his attack.
What gave this girl the right to get involved?
Nothing.
What gave her the right to go off and have an argument with yet another brackborn guy and ignore him?
Nothing!
As such, Lei Zhong was filled with a righteous rage and he began to condense his aether into his most powerful attack so that he could-.
[Oi, Thunderskull. Stand down.]
‘Huh?’
[I said, stand down. I just heard them say something that caught my attention and I want to confirm something.]
‘But my lady, they’re-‘
[Are you disobeying my orders, Lei Zhong?]
‘N-no! No mistress, not at all.’
[Then stand down and wait for me to finish asking my question. You can rip their heads off after I determine whether or not their answers are…satisfactory.]
‘Of course…’
[Of course, what?]
‘Of course…Mistress Zhen.’

Before they could bicker further, Zhen Yue and Zhen Hai were interrupted by one of the companions of Lei Zhong, calling out to them in accented Hoof Speech. It reminded them of the immigrants that would come into Stone Claw, however, it sounded significantly more refined.
Which made sense, since it was the girl that had a sour look on her face that had called out to them.
“What did you say his name was?,” the girl asked with a strangely serious tone as she pointed a finger directly at Zhen Xing.
“He is….uh…”
Zhen Yue and Zhen Hai were just about to answer the girl’s question, or tell her to fuck-off it was either or at this point, until they noticed something very strange.
Out of the corner of their eyes, Zhen Yue and Zhen Hai noticed that the once easy-going behavior of Lei Zhong’s friends had suddenly stiffened once the girl started talking.
Even Lei Zhong, who looked as if murder was burning in his veins, looked noticeably cooled once this girl started talking.
Clearly she was the leader of this motley group, but the way everyone was reacting suggested that they didn’t follow her purely out of respect…but fear.
The only question though was, what kind of fear.
Zhen Hai was tempted to just tell this girl to shove it where the sun don’t shine, but Zhen Yue decided to be a touch more…diplomatic.
And bullshitty.
“Apologies young miss, but where we’re from it is usually polite for the one asking the question of introduction to introduce themselves first,” Zhen Yue lied, “so before we reveal his name, do you mind if you can tell us yours?”
“Hmmm,” the girl with a sour girl hummed with disdain before speaking again, her posture now straighter and aura becoming steely.
“Very well…you have the privilege of speaking to the Mistress of the Black Pearl Manor, Owner of the Ten Blossoms Saber and Second Daughter of the Zhen Clan, Zhen Ren Fa,” the girl introduced herself.
The moment they heard the family name, Zhen Hai and Zhen Yue eyes went wide in realization.
‘Oh…shit.’
“Now…what did you say his name was?,” Zhen Ren Fa asked again.
