Chapter 534: …FIGHT!
[Aight amigos, who we betting on winning their fight first?,] Hurricroak asked.
[Come again?]
The moment Hurricroak suggested they gamble, Razorstella, Frosttusk, Nepherage and Spring Brawler all looked at her like she was absolutely off her rocker.
Was she seriously suggesting that they take bets on whether or not their lord’s cousins would lose their fight against their…other cousin(?) and her cronies?
Thankfully, that wasn’t the case.
[Stop giving me that look, even I know it’d be fucked up for us to bet on our lord’s family to lose their fight, so I am suggesting we be on who wins their fight first,] Hurricroak explained, [which is why it is with confidence that I am betting on shark boy winning his fight first.]
[Okay…why…?]
[Because I’ve been inside his brain case and I am bias, that and because he incorporated a Diamond Crusher Shark core, or something like that, right? The man’s up against a dude who’s opening move was to coat himself in rock armor, that’s like…coating yourself in raw blood and throwing yourself into shark infested waters.]
The moment Hurricroak made this analogy, Spring Brawler gave her a deadpan stare.
A rather impressive feat due to their figure-like faces.
[Was that-]
[Yes, that was on purpose.]
[Well…if we’re taking bets on who will beat their opponent first…then I think Miss Zhen Yue will likely defeat her opponent first,] Nepherage stated, [I’ve seen her fight before and I can say with just as much confidence as Hurricroak that she’ll thoroughly trounce this lightning fellow. This guy may be a bit faster than the opponent I saw her fight before, but she should be able to handle this no problem. Granted, she did also have the environmental advantage at the time.]
[Wait…I think I was there for that fight,]Razorstella mumbled, [you have any opinions, Frosttusk?]
[Not…really…]
[Fair.]
As the kaijin settled in to watch the battle unfold, the battles themselves turned out to be rather…vicious.

*Bing-Bong*
For the sake of clarity, the battles of:
[Lei Zhong vs. Zhen Yue] & [Gou Huang vs Zhen Hai] will be told as separate instances.
However, keep in mind that both fights are happening at the same time.
Thank you.
…
You really didn’t want to write one big fight scene with four people involved, did you?
|THAT SHIT GETS COMPLICATED, AND THIS ISN’T A COMIC…yet.|
You know that joke won’t translate into other adaptations, right?
|We’ll adapt and edit as necessary when it happens, now, allonsy!|
Fair enough…

“[Megalodon Thrash!]”
Instead of waiting around like his cousin for his opponent to make the first move, Zhen Hai decided to go all out and smash the guy’s skull in first.
The best defense was a powerful offense after all.
As such, Zhen Hai proceeded to circulate his aether and summon forth a massive amount of water that quickly took on the shape of a giant shark that encapsulated his arm. When Zhen Hai swung his arm forward to punch Gou Huang, it looked as if a primordial shark from the darkest depths had risen just to devour him specifically.
*ROAR!*
Unfortunately for the shark, this rocky bastard happened to believe in a similar philosophy when it came to fighting.
As the megalodon made of water steadily approached him, Gou Huang took on a solid horse stance and concentrated his aether into one of his fists, bulking up the already considerably bulky stones surrounding it.
Just as Zhen Hai’s megalodon was about to close its massive jaws around Gou Huang, the latter finally lashed out!
<<[Stone Deity Drill!] Ha!>>
*GROOA!*
Gou Huang sent forth a powerful punch that quickly morphed into a spiraling drill of black stone that gave off a feeling similar to what one would experience if they entered holy ground.
<> Gou Huang shouted as he pushed his drill forward.
Now, normally, Gou Huang would be correct with this statement.
In the grand balance of aether affinities, Terraqi overpowers Aquarii aether due to the general idea of [Earth] absorbs [Water], so if Zhen Hai had used any other of his aether arts, Gou Huang’s drill would’ve overpowered him and Zhen Hai would’ve had to deal with his shoulder being twisted into a pulpy mess.
However…
“Break for me!”
*CRACK!*
<
There are always exceptions to this rule, which in this case, channeling the power of a Diamond Crusher Shark beast, made it possible for Zhen Hai to smash his opponents stone drill into a million little pieces and allow him to land the first punch against him.
As his fist made contact, Gou Huang’s stony skin dented inwards into the exact shape of Zhen Hai’s knuckle.
‘Dammit! Only surface deep!,’ Zhen Hai cursed as he had to bounce away from his opponent in case he attempted to counter, completely forgetting about another ability of his that would’ve made that indent hurt a lot more…

[On the one hand, I am proud of him of being able to smash into his opponent’s defensive measures…on the other, I am upset he forgot that he has lightning powers now, COME ON SHARK BOY!]
[Wait, you’re complaining that he didn’t do more damage? He left an indent in the man’s armor!]
[Yeah, but his bones are still in-tact…as well as his organs.]
[Bruh.]

<<[Fierce Demon Thunder Kick!]>>
As Lei Zhong launched himself at Zhen Yue, the shadow of a demonic being encapsulated the man’s form while lightning aether condensed around his leg and formed into a vicious looking greave made of lightning and pure hatred.
The faint scent of ozone could be smelled as Lei Zhong fired off this intermediate Ethereal aether art and flew towards Zhen Yue.
<
‘Shit. Not enough time to muster up a defense, going to have to dodge it!’
“[Shadow Moon Waltz]”
As Lei Zhong’s kick flew towards Zhen Yue, she began to sway side to side in a very strange manner that simultaneously caused her body to darken like a shadow and glow like a pale full moon on a clear night. Despite this strange change though, she was still directly in the path of Lei Zhong’s attack.
‘Seriously? You think that weird dance is going to help you dodge my lightning fast moves?!’
Enraged by the strange movements, perceiving it as an insult to his abilities, Lei Zhong increased his aether usage and increased his speed to an even greater degree.
However, as he got closer and closer to his target…
‘Now die you…wait…something feels…off…’
He began to notice that the woman in front of him didn’t feel as…real as before.
By the time Lei Zhong realized this though, it was too late.
*ZAP! SCHWOLP!*
‘An afterimage?!’
Lei Zhong’s kick briefly made contact with Zhen Yue, arcs of lightning jumping from his leg into her, only for the image of Zhen Yue to suddenly disappear as Lei Zhong’s leg began to go through her like a phantom.
Lei Zhong was about halfway passing through this afterimage, when he felt a rather foreboding presence directly above his head.
He managed to turn his head just enough to see Zhen Yue floating above him with a pair of giant owl wings made of aether attached to her back.
A pair of wings she was about to use to unleash a rather devastating attack.
[Owl Totem: Moon Feather Shower!]
*FLIT!FLIT!* x 10
<
Several dozen or so feather arrows fell down on Lei Zhong like rain, each one hitting hard enough to leave a one inch deep hole in the pavement below.
Lei Zhong could barely react fast enough to set up an aether barrier to block a majority of the feather arrows, with at least six or so managing to pierce his flesh.
<
“Say that to my face!”
<
Lei Zhong was all set to let loose a hurl of insults while maintaining the barrier above his head, but before he could do so, Zhen Yue had already appeared at his side.
Only this time, she didn’t have a pair of owl wings on her back, but a pair of massive jaguar-like claws that she put together to perform a rather nasty double palm strike to Lei Zhong’s ribs.
[Jaguar Totem: Lunar Nail!]
<
Zhen Yue pushed forward and sent Lei Zhong flying, causing the man to spit up a mouthful of blood as he did.
Normally, this would be the time one would gloat or taunt their enemy for being so vulnerable, but Zhen Yue opted instead to prepare herself for another combo attack.
‘Like father always, don’t let up your guard until the other guy stops moving…,’ Zhen Yue told herself, as she began to plan out her next three moves.
‘…or was it, don’t let up the assault until the other guy stops moving? They’re the same thing, right?’

[Fucking told y’all she’d win. That girl is scary.]
