Chapter 914: Conflicting [Val-] BURN
Huh… what’s up with the title? It looks…ill-formated.
What are you talking abou-oh…huh. That’s weird…that should be reading “Conflicting [Values]”, because the main highlight for this was a battle between Zhen Yan and the mon…the mon…why can’t I refer to it as a “monkey”?
I don’t know, but the script you gave me appears to be changing on its own somehow.
What the fuck?!

‘Aight, just because I have a distate for death doesn’t mean I don’t know when I need to put someone down,’ Zhen Liu oddly argued for himself. ‘It had just been prudent to lock away enemies so I can address and deal with them on a case-by-case. Wait a minute, didn’t we already gave this to conversation? I swear we did.’
[We did so in regards to Olstenna.]
‘Ah! Right…that argument still holds. Find it a waste to not extract a much information and usage out of someone before doing anything fatal.’
[See, we get that,] Hurricroak began to explain. [But…don’t we already have that feature that allows us to extract information and formulas out of people’s severed heads? I mean, you saw us do that multiple times in the past.]
‘That-‘
But before Zhen Liu could provide a response to the kaijin, even at the speed of thought, he found himself and the others getting interrupted.
More specifically, the group found themselves suddenly feeling incredibly angry and then incredibly patient within literal seconds of each emotion passing over them. That said, it should be noted that Zhen Liu was technically feeling it four times as bad as the others due to the soul connection.
‘Blerg, what the fuck?’
[That was…weird.]
[Why did that-oh that’s why.]
It didn’t take them too long to realize what had caused the sudden wave of weird emotions was due to Zhen Liu’s father fighting the Dragon Thief Monkey. Then again, it probably it helped that they were the most visually striking things happening in this moment.
The Dragon Thief Monkey, at this moment, looked like a giant blood red fireball that was attempting to smash into an equally large green fireball that appeared to be Elder Zhen Yan, performing a defensive stance that reminded Zhen Liu of something he saw in a movie once.
That stated, the two fighters only looked like fireballs due to how fast they were moving. In reality, Zhen Liu and the others could see that the two does were exchanging about a hundred blows a second, striking and blocking as necessary.
[Man…it’s a good thing we can use aether to see what’s going on,] Razorstella commented. [Otherwise, we’d be seeing nothing but blurry fireballs.]
[Yeah…]
It was a painfully obvious comment on her part, but it was one of those comments that had to be said because it was so obvious. Either way, now that the group was here, they had a choice to make.
They could either wait and see whether or not Zhen Liu’s old man would be able to win this fight on his own, because they could also sense that the Dragon Thief Monkey was running out of steam at this point, down to the point that Zhen Yan should be able to handle it on his own.Well, down to the point that Blazejudicator and Zhen Yan should be able to handle this, but the former was technically providing support in the background, not being an active participant in battle.
Alternatively, they could get involved and end this fight right here and now.
Five against one tends to end badly for the one, even if the one was technically stronger than the five in this scenario.
That and the kaijin hadn’t a proper scrap in awhile and were getting a wee bit antsy.
[So…what are we doing, maestro?,] Hurricroak spoke up. [We turning this duet into a hexad or what?]
‘I want to say wait and see…but I’m also getting this bad feeling in my gut, so let’s just end this shit before things go sideways.’
[Yes sir!]
And with that simple command, Zhen Liu and the kaijin threw themselves into the fray…unaware that this would lead to issues.
Dragon sized issues.
…
‘Uhh…Blazejudicator. Why am I suddenly getting a sense of extreme foreboding?’
[Uh oh.]

Wait, you’re still dragging out this fight? I figured we’d be done by now.
I mean, yeah. I was originally gonna end it about here. Couple of blows, dragon burn scars and then sudden defeat for comedic effect during a power-up sequence. I don’t know what’s going-
FWOOSH!
HOLY SHIT!
WHY IS THE SCRIPT ON FIRE?!
IT’S NOT JUST ON FIRE! It’s… rewriting itself?!
What the FU-

Hateful.
Hateful!
Why in the name of the heavens, was I left to such wretched designs?
After all the trials and tribulations, is this to be my fate?
Some defeated record on another warrior’s mark?
Did I not go through hell and back climbing in the ranks of my old troop?
Was I not the only one brave enough to scavenge the remains of that defeated dragon?
Have I not suffered for centuries on end as the dragon’s blood mutated and twisted my form into becoming a false image of itself, all while suppressing my true form, until I had finally found something to strengthen my mind and soul to fet to this point?
And now, moments after being free, moments after becoming myself once more…I am harassed.
I am attacked.
I am assaulted!
First by a pair of old fogeys who thought they could defeat me with their little magic toys. Jokes on them, I didn’t need those to seal them up in those leeching trees. Once this is over, I’ll take my time digesting their power.
Next, a hateful woman that smelled like a more arrogant and haughty version of myself. I could feel my lessers bowing before her in a spiritual sense, what stopped me from making my own subordinate sources?
But before I could even deliver a finishing blow, some weird man made of stars, knives and smelled like her amte, shows up out of nowhere and tries to sever my limbs?
Mine?!
I am the one who breaks arms and eat the meat, not you!
And then, despite having countered that woman’s finishing move, yet another interloper, a man who thinks himself a lion, comes flying in and attempts to punch in my jaw.
Using some form of hateful [Pride], [Gluttony] and [Temperance] in order to bring me down.
Me!
One who has turned the dragon’s blood into its tool, one who has lived centuries longer than any of these malformed primitives, and one who has managed to steal and adapt powers most mortals consider untouchable?!
Inconceivable!
Impossible!
And now, like hyenas, like wolves, another strange group of warriors have come to prevent him from actually winning one of these accursed battles!
Well, no more!
Who cares if he was running out of stamina, who cares if he was running out of aether, who cares if he was running out of dragon force?!
In the end, the only thing anyone needs to win a fight, to utterly slaughter their opponent.
Is.
Pure.
RAAAAAAGEEEEEE!

‘Alright. Nepherage, Frosttusk, I want you two to-‘
ROOOOOAAAARRRRRR!
‘WHAT THE FLAMING FUCK?!’
“Gah!”
Flaming was an understatement.
The Dragon Thief Monkey was already on fire and burning with rage as is, but sensing the encroaching Zhen Liu and his squad of kaijin was enough to to push him over the edge.
The Dragon Thief Monkey had suddenly stopped mere seconds before the kaijin arrival and began to merely hover over Zhen Yan’s green fireball.
Over the course of seconds, the flames surrounding the Dragon Thief Monkey had begun to recede for a brief moment, changed from blood red to pitch black, and then explode like a warehouse full of illegal fireworks.
The force of the sudden explosion was so intense that Zhen Yan was sent flying from his defensive position, with his [Flames of Patience] mode being knocked down back to normal in the process.
“Father!”
“Xiao Liu?! When did you get-”
“ROOAKIE!”
However, that was the least of the Zhen Clan’s and kaijin’s problems.
Engulfed by black flame, neither Zhen Liu, Zhen Yan or any of the kaijin could clearly see what was going on inside…but they could feel it.
They could feel a boiling rage that got hotter and hotter by the second, they could feel an imposing aura getting heavier and heavier by the second, they could all vaguely sense that the Dragon Thief Monkey had undergone yet another evolution.
How?
Why?
Nobody present could really for certain, hell not even a pair of certain know-it-all spirits could give an accurate description of what had just transpired in a couple of seconds.
But the group of warriors present did know one thing.
It was now, “do or die” time, and absolutely none of them had plans to die.
…
[Oh balls, that’s…a lot of dragon force.]
[Yup.]
[Even more than that stupid otter that gave me those electric scars.]
[Uh huh.]
[We might actually die in this fight.]
[We could.]
[So…why am I getting excited over this prospect?]
[Because…why the fuck not?]
[Amen.]
‘It…it disturbs me how calm y’all are about this.’
