Chapter 192: Capture the Flag: Part-5
When Aether was trying his utmost best to seduce Aria, others…
“Sweet!” Helena smiled brightly as she looked at the ash-coloured flag fluttering gently in the wind.
Helena had managed to defeat Ashara with just simple holy power, which was sufficiently potent to hurt Ashara, who possessed dark power.
Though it wasn’t an easy feat by any means, since Helena’s team members, especially the males, were easily hypnotized and mesmerized by Ashara’s succubus power and ended up hurting themselves.
In mere seconds, Helena’s team was reduced by half, a significant and devastating loss.
Helena then turned her gaze to Ashara’s team members, who were slowly disappearing as their team leader was defeated.
To be perfectly honest, if not for Helena’s holy power, Ashara might very well have emerged victorious.
Nevertheless, Helena grabbed the flag, and then suddenly, the flag flickered before changing into a resplendent golden colour.
In the sky, the hologram suddenly changed, updating Helena’s score to 1700 points and placing her above Thalia Crimsonclaw in the rankings.
On to the next location…
“Grrrrr!!” Jack Sparrow gritted his teeth in frustration as he looked at the black flag tinged with a hint of purple hovering ominously before him.
He had managed to secure a victory against Nyx, though it had been far from easy.
He himself had suffered greatly against her formidable dark powers, and the victory came at the high cost of losing many of his team members. Now, his team was down to only one member who was barely able to move.
‘Tsk, that bitch is getting stronger and stronger…’ Jack growled under his breath before looking at the remaining team member, “Let’s move… we cannot afford to delay any longer.”
He touched the flag, which soon changed into a deep, dark black.
In the hologram, Jack Sparrow’s points increased to 1300, placing him on equal footing with Thalia.
He then noticed Kaelen’s position, still below Aria’s, and thought, ‘Hope you keep your end of the deal…’ before hurriedly moving towards his next target with determination.
On to the next location…
“Pathetic!!” Thalia shouted with disdain as she looked at Finnian, who was holding his battered body together with great difficulty.
He couldn’t believe that Thalia was able to counter-attack him no matter what method he used against her.
‘S-She is stronger than I anticipated….’ he thought, his insides feeling completely misplaced and battered. Her attacks were far stronger than what she had initially shown.
“W-What level are you?” he asked with a voice full of pain and desperation.
He really needed to know and hoped she was far above him; otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to show his face to Helena or…. the Archpriestess ever again.
Thalia smirked as she replied, “You… just thought I must be at a higher level, right? But too bad, I am just at Level 10, the same as the others!” She showed her Golden Arcane Card, where only one star shone brightly, indicating her level was around 10 to 15.
Finnian’s face turned grim, as if he had just eaten something vile and disgusting.
“Hahaha… look at that face… damn! That’s why I despise these weaklings who think they’re superior just because they were chosen,” Thalia muttered with contempt before grabbing Finnian’s throat and lifting him up effortlessly.
“You know, even Chosen ones can be killed if someone weak really puts their heart and soul into it….” She smirked and added, “There is still a living example walking around… and yet each one of you guys didn’t even bother to put me in your sight, looking down on me just because I wasn’t a chosen one…. Man, that’s really hurtful and pisses me off!!”
“Ccrrggrrrrr!!” Finnian struggled desperately to escape from her iron grasp. His team had already been completely eliminated by her team, so only Finnian was left now, utterly alone.
“Let me tell you this… I will defeat you all, even if Arcane doesn’t recognize me… I will defeat the previous sovereign as well as the future pathetic sovereign and prove to the entire world that sovereigns are nothing but bored toys for Arcane!”
The crystal badge shattered and warped Finnian, causing him to disappear and leaving behind a dark brown-coloured flag.
Thalia had emerged victorious against Finnian, and she smiled as she looked at her team. Although they had defeated Finnian’s team members, her own team had lost one member, and several others were wounded.
She sighed, knowing that in the next battle, she would likely be the one fighting. She then grabbed the flag, which instantly transformed into an onyx-black colour.
The hologram in the sky updated, increasing Thalia Crimsonclaw’s points to 2100 and placing her at the top once again.
“Hehe…” she giggled softly to herself.
On to the next location…
“Huff-Huff-Huff,” Aqualina Naiadia panted heavily as she looked at Aurelia Scarlet and Selene, both of whom had numerous cuts on their bodies.
“I-I suppose even two Golden Aptitude fighters were not enough to defeat you,” Lia muttered with a pained face as she looked at Aqualina.
“S-She is incredibly strong…” Selene mumbled, glancing around at the others who had already been defeated in her team. Aqualina had only lost two people, and now they were surrounded.
Aqualina took a long, steadying breath before saying, “I never thought you would be this strong,” pointing at Lia, who simply shrugged.
To be honest, the last time Aqualina attacked her, it was a surprise attack, and Lia was not in the right mood, which allowed Aqualina to take her by surprise. If not, Lia might have given Aqualina a tough fight.
“Though you are not strong enough…” Aqualina muttered in an amused tone as two long, thin white swords appeared in her hands.
She instructed her team members to take care of Selene while she focused on Lia.
Selene gritted her teeth; she wanted to use her weapon but knew she wasn’t ready to wield its full power. She could only use her magic to attack the others.
Ting
Aqualina and Lia fought skillfully, their blades clashing with sparks flying. However, Lia was a single-handed swordsman, while Aqualina wielded dual swords, making it difficult for Lia to concentrate on both of her opponent’s weapons.
As the fight escalated, Selene was eventually defeated, though she managed to take down two of Aqualina’s team members with her.
“Shit!!” Lia gritted her teeth.
She could not handle fighting two opponents simultaneously. She had used every bit of her power and had no choice but to retreat, “Let’s settle our score later…” Just as Aqualina was about to strike her,
‘Puffff!’
Lia’s body suddenly burst into a red mist before transforming into a bat and flying away.
“Tsk, I sometimes forget she is a blood-sucking vampire!” Aqualina gritted her teeth before stumbling down.
“P-Princess!” The remaining team member panicked.
“It’s fine…” Aqualina said, her body having taken a significant toll from fighting two Golden Aptitude Rankers, ‘I need to train more…’ she mumbled, and just then,
Thud
The last team member suddenly fell down and disappeared into particles. Aqualina’s eyes widened as she turned around to see Jack Sparrow and another figure appear.
‘Tsk, it’s getting tough now…’ she thought and stood up as she ready to face the next opponent!
