Chapter 277: Devil…
Victor, along with everyone else in the room, was taken aback by….. Raven Noir.
She was a woman known for her silence, rarely speaking to anyone, so it was surprising to hear her voice now.
The professor frowned, clearly displeased by the interruption, “What’s the matter, Ms. Raven Noir? I’m addressing this team, not yours. Please return to your place,” he said, trying to maintain authority.
Ignoring the professor, Raven looked directly at Victor and made an unexpected offer. “I will give you 1000ˀ for this,” she said, her voice calm and measured.
Victor blinked behind his mask, puzzled by her sudden interest, ‘What is she up to?’ he wondered.
Seeing Victor’s silence, Raven upped the amount, “2000ˀ,” she offered, her tone unwavering.
“…”
“3000ˀ”
“…”
“4000ˀ”
“…”
Still, Victor did not respond. Raven sighed and finally said, “5000ˀ. That’s my final offer.”
The entire class fell silent, stunned by the escalating bids. ‘Is she serious?’ everyone thought in unison, unable to comprehend the situation.
‘That might be worth it, but isn’t she spending too much without even negotiating?’ Aqualina thought, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Meanwhile, both Selene and Aria, seemingly out of sync with the gravity of the moment, whispered to themselves,
“He is the best!”
“He is the best!”
They then looked at each other in surprise and chuckled simultaneously,
“Haha…”
“Haha…”
and wondered why they were even chuckling at each other.
Anyhow,
Victor, squinting his eyes, thought, ‘Is she trying to rub her wealth ‘I am filthy rich!’ at me?’ He then remembered seeing a poster about a masked person with a hefty reward and…. wondered who it might be. Inwardly, he laughed at the absurdity of the situation.
“I think you misunderstood my silence, Ms. Raven…” he finally said, breaking the tension.
“Hmm?” Raven nudged her sunglasses up.
Victor then turned to the professor, who was still trying to process the situation, “Why don’t you check it, Professor? This is not an ordinary firestone… Didn’t I say it was a surprise?” he said, gesturing for Ashara to hand over the crystal to the professor.
The professor snapped out of his daze, glancing at the crystal sceptically. “I’m sorry to say this, Mr. Victor, but I won’t—”
“Tsk, are you even listening, you clueless idiot?” Victor interrupted, his tone laced with irritation.
Veins popped on the professor’s forehead as he glared at Victor. “Idiot? Are you referring to me?” he asked, barely able to contain his anger.
“Of course… Not” Victor replied quickly, shaking his head. He then turned to Ashara, putting on a show, “Idiot! Do you think you’re some kind of big deal? Do you even understand what I’m trying to say? Or should I tell the principal what an idiot you are? Not able to handle it” he said, his voice dripping with fake frustration.
“Pffft—”
The class erupted in suppressed laughter, everyone covering their mouths to stifle their amusement. It was clear that Victor was actually mocking the professor…. That only increased Professor’s anger.
Meanwhile,
‘W-What did I do?’ Ashara, initially confused and hurt by Victor’s harsh words, quickly caught on when she saw him wink at her. Realizing the act was a ruse to provoke the professor, she played along, watching as the professor struggled to keep his composure.
“What did you say, Mr. Professor?” Victor asked innocently, his face the picture of politeness.
“Grrrrr,” the professor growled, gritting his teeth as he fought to control his temper. “If this doesn’t surprise me, everyone from this class will be banned from my lectures!”
Thalia, tried to object, “That’s not fair—” but the professor cut her off sharply.
“SHUT UP!” he barked, silencing her immediately.
Determined to prove Victor wrong, the professor poured his arcane energy into the crystal, thinking, ‘Let’s see what this arrogant brat has done!’
Ssssshhhh
The atmosphere in the laboratory grew tense as the blue flames erupted once more from the crystal.
The professor, his face twisted in amusement, glanced at Victor and asked, “That’s it?” His voice dripped with condescension, clearly expecting something more.
“Haha…” Leon and Kai laughed haughtily, “Are you trying to show off?” they asked.
The other students were ready inform to the principal as they didn’t want to be banned from the class just because of Victor.
Victor, maintaining his composure, simply instructed, “Pour more energy.”
The professor mockingly shrugged, channelling even more arcane energy into the crystal. However, despite the increased power, nothing seemed to happen.
“Tsk” The professor’s face began to glisten with sweat from the effort, and just as he was about to stop, there was a sudden change.
Sssshhh—
The blue flames abruptly ceased, replaced by a strange sound:
‘BURF!’
“….”
A moment of stunned silence followed.
The professor’s lips twitched as if suppressing a laugh, and then he burst out, “Just a fart? Hahaha!” He gripped the crystal tightly, laughing uproariously.
The other students caught off guard, couldn’t help but feel a mix of amusement and confusion.
“Hahahaha… Loser!” Leon laughed even more.
The professor, wiping tears of laughter from his eyes, said, “You really have a unique sense of humour, Victor—”
But before he could finish, Victor interrupted, “Surprise!” He gestured the peace symbol with a small, knowing smile.
Spark
ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
“AAAAARRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!”
The professor let out a piercing scream as his entire body was enveloped in electric sparks as if struck by continuous lightning.
Raven and Ashara, standing nearby, watched in shock as the blue crystal in the professor’s hand crackled with white sparks and slowly covered the entire crystal.
Raven’s eyes widened, realizing the ingenious circuit, ‘Two different circuits in a single crystal… Quite impressive. He seems to have a good understanding,’ she thought, her eyes scanning Victor with newfound interest.
“I will give you 10,000ˀ for this product” Raven announced with a determined face.
“…. Seriously?” Victor never thought that a small thing could cost this much.
“W-We need to stop!!”
Kai and Leon, seeing the professor in distress, rushed to help him, but were nearly struck by the erratic lightning.
ZZZZzzz
“FUCK!” Kai exclaimed, narrowly dodging the electrical arcs
Victor, wearing a sly grin, remarked, “Oh, I forgot to mention… Hehe… The lightning won’t stop anytime soon… because he poured too much energy.” His words sent a chill through the room, and the students murmured in unison, “Devil…” as they witnessed the professor’s ordeal.
Raven’s eyes widened even more, ‘T-This is not just two circuits he…. it has three circuits and functions… Awesome’ she then shouted, “50,000ˀ”
Victor was taken aback it was at this moment an idea popped into his head, ‘Fuck! Why didn’t I think before….’ he mused by the idea that just popped up…. as a sly smile appeared on his face, “Hehe…” as he looked at Professor whose skin started to change dark.
Did he feel sorry?
Hell, NO!!
‘This fucker looked at my Aria…. in a different way’ Victor thought, when they arrived at the laboratory the professor lustfully looked at Aria though it was for a second, it was enough to get Victor’s eyes.
And Of course, Aria knew about it but she didn’t want to cause a scene and as a woman who just divorced her husband, she knew how this world going to look at her so she decided to take care later but…. ‘He is cute~’ Aria thought, her eyes turned soft and gentle and felt really warm.
Jack Sparrow who watched the scene with quite an interesting face thought, ‘He might not be bad… should I ask him?…. hmm…. Tsk, Let’s wait and watch’.
Helena, horrified, was about to intervene when Finnian stopped her, shaking his head. “Why? He is suffering!” Helena protested, pointing at the professor, whose body was beginning to blacken.
Just then,
“What’s going on?” Alaric burst into the laboratory, his eyes widening in shock at the sight before him. With a swift motion of his hand, he shattered the crystal, ending the torment and leaving the professor’s charred body slumped on the floor.
The pungent odour of burnt flesh filled the air.
Alaric’s face contorted with fury, “Who dares to do this—” He stopped mid-sentence, his eyes locking onto….. Aria, who was gazing at him with an unsettlingly serene expression.
“How?” Alaric’s subconscious voice trembled, his face paling. It was as if he had seen a ghost. He couldn’t comprehend how she was standing there, seemingly unscathed by the events that had transpired.
Aria’s voice was cold as ice, dripping with barely restrained anger, “How? What are you talking about, Professor… A.l.a.r.i.c?” Her eyes were lifeless, filled with a dark intensity. She knew he was the one responsible for nearly losing her beloved and the dire situation involving her mother.
“I-I…” Alaric stammered, stepping back in fear, his breath coming in short, panicked gasps. ‘It’s not possible,’ he thought frantically, ‘There was no way they could have survived… I planned everything perfectly! There was no way!!! It must be a sou—’ His thoughts were abruptly interrupted as Helena, who had been tending to the injured professor, shouted,
“We need to take him to the infirmary immediately!”
