Chapter 316: Know your place, Servant!
Next Early Morning,
“I-I am sorry…” Kyra’s voice trembled as she mumbled the words, her head bowed in shame and regret.
Delphine gazed at her, her eyes softening with empathy. She sighed before asking gently, “Are you alright now?”
Kyra nodded, still unable to lift her head.
Delphine’s expression softened further. She stepped forward and enveloped Kyra in a warm, comforting hug, “You are the top cadet among your peers,” she whispered, “Even though others belittled you for your background, you didn’t let that get to you. You reached a height that even the noble children envy. I hope you can maintain this strength. I know it’s hard, but that’s why we are here for you… This time, we won’t fail you. Okay?”
Kyra responded with a quiet, “Hmm…” as she clung to Delphine.
…..
….
Delphine stepped out of the room after a lengthy take care of Kyra and found Victor standing calmly outside.
“For the time being, I will take care of her,” Delphine said, her voice firm, “I’ll take her out with me. Being alone in there might cause her more harm.”
Victor nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation, “I see…” he murmured, then asked, “What about Kai?”
“Vice Principal Alaric is currently investigating it,” Delphine replied, her expression serious. “Since it involves a professor, everyone is keeping tight-lipped.”
Victor glanced at her, noting the concern etched on her face, then nodded and turned to leave without another word.
“W-Wait!!” Delphine’s voice trembled as she reached out and caught Victor’s hand.
Victor turned back as he stared into her eyes… Delphine immediately let go of his hand, folding her arms under her chest and adjusting her glasses nervously. “I-I heard… you saved her.”
“Yes,” Victor responded simply.
Delphine gritted her teeth, remembering how Victor used to seize such moments to flirt with her, his perverted tendencies always coming to the fore…. But now, his demeanour was different, more restrained.
“If there’s nothing else, I need to leave now,” Victor said, his tone carefree, “Otherwise, the Princess will be angry.”
Hearing his nonchalant tone, Delphine bit her lip, feeling a mix of emotions, “I-I saw Aria with you yesterday. Why?” she blurted out, her voice tinged with…. jealousy and curiosity.
Victor grinned inwardly but maintained his calm exterior, “‘Why?’ She asked me out for dinner. Is that wrong?” He knew Delphine must have seen him with other girls, but Aria was the one who always seemed to ignite her jealousy and anger.
“W-Wrong? Of course….” Delphine stammered, her annoyance clear before adding, “Not!” and she mumbled something under her breath that Victor couldn’t quite catch.
Victor smirked, stepping closer to her. Delphine flinched, her body turning rigid as she watched his hand move towards her face.
Her cheeks turned red at the thought, ‘I-is he going to touch me… Finally?’

But she quickly remembered the certain ‘image’….. She knew she had to avoid him, yet her hands refused to move as if fearing the loss of something important if she did.
“It’s a petal,” Victor said softly, plucking a red-black petal from her hair.
Delphine felt a pang of disappointment but then noticed Victor staring intently at her as he moved his mask aside.

His face was dangerously close to hers, and Delphine’s breath hitched.
Her eyes remained locked on Victor’s piercing blue eyes. Then she saw his lips move, but no sound came out. She frowned, puzzled by his silent message. Victor shook his head before putting his mask back on and said, “Take care of her.” He turned to leave.
Delphine watched him go, a mix of longing and confusion swirling within her.
She desperately wanted to invite him to dinner…. to spend time alone with him.
‘Tsk,’ she clicked her tongue, frustrated.
But then she remembered the movement of his lips, trying to mimic them in her mind.
“You… are… Beautifu–”
Delphine’s face turned beet red as she covered it with her hands, her heart beating wildly, ‘P-Pervert…’ she mumbled but there was the smile on her face.

Victor smirked, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over him, ‘A few more pushes and pulls…’ he mused with amusement
‘Puuffffff…..’ He blew the petal and watched the red-black petal float away.
He walked on, a happy smile on his face.
The red-black petal when it touched the ground….
Puff!
It burned with a small minute bomb-like action!

…..
Aqualina, her face twisted in a mix of annoyance and fury, handed over her bag with a sharp, frustrated motion. Aether stood there, stunned, trying to piece together what had caused her outburst.
He couldn’t fathom why she was so upset, ‘Is she angry because I didn’t come?’ he thought, feeling a pang of confusion.
Selene, ever perceptive, saw the tension and decided to speak up, “I was the one who took him out yesterday,” she said with a nonchalant shrug.
Aqualina’s eyes widened, a flicker of realization crossing her face. Her anger surged, ‘This bitch!’ she thought, her teeth gritting as she tried to suppress her frustration. Although she had agreed to the arrangement before… but now everything had changed…. She loved him and… the jealousy she felt was undeniable.
“You could have informed me,” Aqualina said, her voice tight with irritation.
Selene shrugged again, hugging Aether as she usually did. Aqualina’s lips twitched, her irritation barely contained. She pulled Aether’s other arm around her, making her possessive stance clear.
“What? He is MY servant!” Aqualina declared fiercely.
Their argument continued meanwhile Aether enjoyed their softness…. as they ran into Kai and his sidekick, Vesperine.
“Good morning,” Vesperine said with a polite bow, her voice soft but carrying an edge of formality.
Aqualina looked her over with a disdainful glance. “Indeed… It’s a good morning… Until now…” she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm and frustration.
“P-Princess!!” Kai’s voice held a note of distress as he tried to keep up with Aqualina’s brisk pace. However, Aqualina simply ignored him and walked away.
Kai and Vesperine exchanged glances, their expressions tinged with awkwardness. Leon, ever the supportive friend, patted Kai on the shoulder with a reassuring gesture. “Don’t worry, Kai. Give her some time. Sometimes, girls need a little while to figure things out. Once she does, I’m sure she’ll come around.”
Kai blinked several times, a sense of familiarity washing over him.
Then he managed a smile. “That’s my best friend for you!”
Leon returned the smile and gave Vesperine a wink. “You too, sister. Don’t worry. I’ll support you with everything I’ve got!” Vesperine’s cheeks flushed slightly as she looked away.
Leon then followed Selene, leaving Kai and Vesperine behind.
“Master Kai,” Aether called out, his voice cutting through the murmur of the crowd.
Kai turned, his expression guarded, “What is it?” he asked, his tone edged with irritation.
Aether, oblivious to the growing tension, asked curiously, “Where were you last night?”
Both Kai and Vesperine flinched. Kai’s face paled as dread seeped into his features, “W-What are you talking about?”
Aether continued, oblivious to the discomfort he was causing, “Well, I noticed there was a commotion in the night and saw your fi–”
Before Aether could finish his sentence, Vesperine interjected sharply, her voice laced with authority. “As a servant, you dare to question your master? Know your place, Servant!!”
Kai, caught off guard, saw the subtle signal Vesperine gave him. Understanding the unspoken message, he joined in, “Yes, know your place, Servant!!” With that, they turned and walked away, leaving Aether standing there, perplexed and frowning deeply.
Aether watched them retreat with a furrowed brow.
