Chapter 334: Academy is in Danger Part-3
“Where are we going?” John asked, his voice tinged with curiosity and a hint of apprehension as he followed Kai, Aqualina, Vesperine, and Timmy.
Aqualina glanced at John, her gaze cold and calculating.
This was the same man whose face had been disfigured by Selene, the same man who had used his servant to harm Aether, spread the cruel nickname “Princess’s Lackey,” and even tried to manipulate her.
John, whether it was coincidence or fate, had ended up in her team… So, she took him to their search.
“To find the clues,” she replied, her voice steady, though she couldn’t hide the disdain she felt for him then she looked at Vesperine who guided them to the top of the building.
Vesperine led them up the winding stairs to the top of the building. The air grew colder with each step, and Kai, who was sweating profusely, looked like he was harbouring a guilty secret.
As they continued to ascend…
When they finally reached the door to the top veranda, Timmy stepped forward, his hand already reaching for the Locker, “It’s locked,” he muttered, frustration evident in his tone. Just as he was about to break it open,
“Stop!” Aqualina with a sharp-cut voice, stepped forward, her eyes narrowing at the lock. With a swift motion, she drew a small blade from under her sleeve and sliced through the lock, pieces clattering to the ground.
Kai watched in disbelief, about to question her when he noticed something that made his blood run cold…. pieces of red-black spider parts embedded in the shattered lock. “T-That…” Timmy stammered, his face turning pale.
Aqualina’s expression grew stern. She turned to John, her voice icy. “Move ahead. Now.”
“Hell no!” John shouted, his voice breaking with fear. “There’s no way I’m going first. Who knows what’s waiting out there for me?”
Suddenly,
Chuckkk
Drip, Drip
Blood dripped from his cheek, a thin red line appearing as Aqualina’s blade retreated. John’s eyes widened in shock and terror as he looked at her.
“You will be killed by me or… probably not killed by those spiders. Your choice,” Aqualina said, her voice void of any emotion, sending chills down everyone’s spine.
Kai was stunned, his mind racing, their situation was already a mess and now, “P-Princess, what are you do—”
Ssshhhh
Aqualina’s finger pressed against her lips, silencing him. The eerie calm in her eyes made him lower his head, his heart pounding. He glanced at Vesperine, who looked at him with disappointment, causing him to grit his teeth in frustration.
‘Sh-she’s really taking revenge on me, isn’t she?’ John thought, his fear intensifying. He could see that Aqualina didn’t care about his life at all.
John gritted his teeth, the taste of blood in his mouth, ‘If I survive this, I’ll make her pay for this!’ he vowed silently, though he knew deep down he was powerless against her.
He slowly pushed the door open, every creak making his heart skip a beat. Hesitantly, he peeked out and stepped onto the veranda. After confirming it was safe, he let out a deep sigh and motioned for the others to follow.
As soon as they stepped onto the veranda, a deep, cold breeze greeted them, sending shivers down their spines.
“Achoo!” Vesperine sneezed, rubbing her cold shoulders. Kai, with a concerned look, quickly removed his shirt and draped it over her.
“T-Thank you,” Vesperine said, her cheeks flushing. Kai nodded with a gentle smile, his gaze lingering on her before turning to Aqualina, who was staring at the sky with a furrowed brow.
“Now, tell me what exactly happened,” Aqualina demanded, her voice cutting through the chilly air.
Vesperine flinched, her eyes wide. She took a deep breath before speaking, “I saw two figures standing near the edge of the veranda,” she began, her voice trembling. “It was a night just like tonight. I couldn’t see them clearly, but I heard them shouting at each other. One of them said, ‘I did exactly what you told me’… or something along those lines.”
“Okay,” Aqualina nodded, standing at the edge of the veranda and glancing down. “That’s all?” she asked, her voice carrying an edge of impatience.
Vesperine nodded, her face flushing with embarrassment. “Unfortunately, I was too scared to listen to them, so I ran away,” she admitted, her voice tinged with awkwardness.
Aqualina’s mind raced, ‘I did exactly what you told me…ah?’ She pondered, her thoughts swirling. She had heard that Professor Kennedy died in this very place, and Vesperine’s story seemed to align with the same day, ‘So, the other party killed him?’ Aqualina’s frown deepened, ‘That means there are two traitors in the academy… and another person must be among us, laughing at us secretly.’ Her eyes narrowed at Vesperine as she asked, “What exactly were you doing here?”
Vesperine and Kai both flinched. Vesperine tried to stammer out a lame excuse, but Aqualina stepped closer, her face indifferent and cold. “As I said before, no one will question me if someone dies….”
Vesperine gulped audibly and glanced at Kai, who tried to interject, “P-Princess, you are scaring—”
However,
“Mr. Kai Frostblade,” Aqualina’s voice was icy.
Kai flinched at the formal address, bowing his head quickly, “I was the one who asked her to come here.”
“Huh? Why?” Aqualina’s frown deepened.
Before Kai could respond, Vesperine interrupted, “Please forgive him, Princess, but it’s not him! I was the one who asked him to come here….”
“H-Huh! No! I am the one…” Kai protested, unwilling to let Vesperine take the blame.
“B-But, it’s the truth! I am the one who asked to have fun in a different place!” Vesperine shouted back, neither willing to let the other be sacrificed.
John and Timmy exchanged amused glances. ‘Fun? Here? I wonder what kind of fun they were talking about?’ they thought in unison.
Aqualina’s lips twitched in annoyance before she calmly said, “Shut up!”
“!!!”
Both Vesperine and Kai flinched as they felt the killing intent emanating from Aqualina. Vesperine, with a pale face, confessed, “I was the one who invited him here….”
To put it simply, Vesperine had invited Kai to have ‘fun’ here. When she noticed Kai looking down, she used a flashlight to signal that she was up there. As she happily waited for him, two figures suddenly appeared, and she immediately hid behind the bell. Though she couldn’t see them clearly, she felt their strength and ran away, encountering Kai on the stairs and pulling him aside to escape.
“I see…” Aqualina nodded with understanding… Nope, she didn’t understand!
Inwardly, she was screaming, ‘Why the hell would they want to have ‘fun’ here?’ She shook off her confusion, thinking everyone had their own fantasies and fetishes.
But then something bugged her: if what Vesperine said was true, how come those two didn’t sense her presence?
Aqualina asked, “So, why do you think that was related to this situation?”
Suddenly, Vesperine’s face turned to dread as she pointed towards the bell, “I didn’t hear the details… But I did see one of them pointing towards the bell.”… Only she knew how much she deep shit scared when the figure pointed towards the bell, she thought they found her!
Aqualina’s frown deepened. She walked towards the bell, and everyone followed, looking around for anything notable…. but there was nothing.
“There’s nothing here,” Timmy frowned and was about to crouch down to look inside the bell when,
Thud!
Splatter
“KYYAA-Mfffffffff!!!”
