Chapter 66 [V/S Sun!]
Chapter 66 [V/S Sun!]
I probably have died about 25 times against this one.
-Whoosh!
He moves in for an attack as I take a step back.
-Clank!
Parrying his attack was easy, as long as I could make out where they were coming from. Unlike all my previous fights, this guy was more of a casual fighter that never revealed the full extent of his power.
‘In other words…’
-Clank!
I parried a forward slash before taking a step on the side. Then I ducked as I dodged his upper kick,, before taking a step away from him.
‘In other words, there will be no end to his moves, no matter how many times I try it out. He will always block me at the end of my attack,’ I sighed as I dashed towards him again.
-Whoosh!!
Even if I can’t hit him, hitting his staff to chip off the light magic little by little was still fine. For now, that is what I was aiming for. Or to be exact, I wasn’t just chipping the light magic off, but sticking my dark magic on his staff.
“Aren’t you a really smart one?” He smiled as he looked at his staff turning black just in a miniscule amount. It wasn’t something you can see unless you have godly mana sense.
“Man gotta try everything he can,” I smiled before running towards him again.
-Clank!
-Clank!
-Clank!
.
.
The voice of my dagger against his staff echoed in the hall as I let out more and more dark magic into the staff. “Hmmm… not only the staff, but you are letting it out in the air? Are you trying to fill this whole hall with Dark Magic or something?” He seemed interested in what I was doing.
The reason he was not doing anything against it, despite having the capability to do so, was probably related to his own limitations. Like how he can’t show physical abilities more than what I was capable of. He can’t exert more magic either.
-Clank!
Another parry.
-Whoosh!
One dash back.
“Huppp!”
And a jump forward that allows me to dodge his forward stab, and reach the other side before restarting the combo.
This fight was never meant to be won using complete strength. This was meant to be used using the bare minimum and excel in it. You need to excel so much in the bare minimum, to a point where no one could reach you.
‘But I am nothing that great… so I need to fill that gap with my own capabilities and tricks,’ I kept my brain running,, focussing on the guy, reading his movies and feeding then off.
“The world is surely an amazing place. To think I would meet two interesting people at once,” the golden armored guy spoke as he took a step back. Obviously, I didn’t stop releasing the dark mana slowly into the air, but I did stop at a distance from there.
“Nah… this world is messed up,” I spoke as I looked at him with a nonchalant look. Whether it was racism or it was about the Goddess of Balance… There were many things that were uncertain.
“Ooh! Why do you think so?” He asked as he found my answer pretty much fascinating.
‘I didn’t talk to him at all in my previous times… ‘ I realized that this was the first time I had the liberty to think freely and talk, perhaps because I had figured out all the trials?
“Well. True Gods were already too much for the world. Normally a world would function better without the Gods but they are there, making rules and amendments as if they created the world,” I spoke out to my heart’s content for once.
Perhaps it was because of the fact that I knew that this world could pretty much function without the Gods, I was one of the people who actually fought against them in the last war.
“Hmmm? So you think this world would be better off gods?” His interest was at the highest point right now.
“Not exactly. But more like free from interference of gods? Like you leave the problems of the mortals to mortals? Or something like that,” I corrected myself. I don’t have a problem if the Gods were to live on their own. “Then you must seriously hate the Ancient Gods because they are constantly interfering with the world at an extraordinary level?” guy asked again, and I chuckled.
“Ummm… the sole reason they can interfere in the world is because they have believers despite being dark. And the only reason they have dark forces is because ‘Light force’ outcast the people they should get along with,” I sighed on the inside.
“Darak Mages as yourself? You must have gone through a lot,” I saw pity in his eyes as he looked at me. “Not really,” I then showed a miniscule amount of Light magic to him, making him look at me with his eyes wide open. He observed me with a shocked face.
“>.>”
“Y-Y-You! How are you able to… How’s that even possible?” He shouted as he looked at me and I chuckled at him. Looking at his face, I guess it was worth it. “Keep it down, will you?” I hushed him, making him look at me with a blank face.
“Well. I don’t really mind the Gods and the Ancient Gods… though they crossed the line when they did what they did with the witches.” My face turned a bit as I looked at him.
And hearing my response, his expression turned serious as well. It seemed like he, too, felt the same way as I did.
“What is your name Warrior?” He asked.
“Adam. Adam Wesker,” I told him with a calm mind, and he nodded at me before speaking,” I am Sun.”
He has eyes for a few moments before speaking,” Answer 3 questions of Adam. And I will let you pass the trial without any wasted effort.”
‘Hmmm? This is unexpected,’ I thought as I didn’t expect this was possible. Especially considering how the other trials were so basic.
“What do you wield your sword for?” He asked the first question.
“An honest answer? Hmmm… perfect. Or perhaps somewhere everyone can be happy?” I answered him with the same casual face, making him narrow his eyes at me,
“Why?”
“Why? I mean…. It is the hardest thing to do among all possibilities. So why not try going all the way when we have the chance?” He probably won’t understand what Ii was trying to say.
“Is that so? Hmmm… I don’t even know if that kind of answer is what I was expecting…. But, Oh well! It’s not like it’s against my principles. Now next question,” he continued as he looked at me, n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
“What is your motive in life?”
I gave it a thought on this question.
Was my motive to become the strongest? Not really. I was not interested in something like that.
Was it to save everyone, reaching the perfect concussion wheeler everyone was happy? Nah. I am not even that delusional.
Perhaps to find out the person who was responsible for sending me to this world? Hmmm… I mean, yeah, that is a good reason, but to be honest, I wanted to roam the world first. Have a little fun… enjoy my time here.
Then what exactly is my motive in life?
“If I were to put my finger on it, the closest I can answer is that I want to make the correct decisions at least. No matter what the situation is, I want to make decisions that I won’t regret. A life where I don’t have to question my own decisions. Where I don’t regret any step that I took… I want to live that kind of life… that is my motive of life,” I answered with my heart.
A satisfactory feeling appeared in my heart as I looked at the Sun. He seemed to be satisfied with my answer as well. “That is a beautiful way to live a life,” he spoke as he looked at me before he pondered a bit more. His eyes seemed to be questioning something before he finally finished collecting his thoughts.
“There are many things you will face in our life that are going to be hard. But I guess, you already know that,” he smiled as he looked at me before morning to the last question,
“Well. Here is that last question, if you were to get complete power. What will you do with it?”
Complete power? I am pretty sure that I won’t even be able to get something like that even if I try over a hundred times. The laws of this world are too strict to be easily broken like that.
“Travel?” I answered the first thing that came to my mind.
Being an omnipotent God, there would be nothing left to do, to go from one place to another, to live by hiding my power, or showing them when necessary. “I can probably try traveling with humans, elves… even demons and monsters, trying out different things. Since the world is ever, I think traveling would get me entertained for a very long time,” I explained my answer to him
And he stood there as he observed me.
