Clap Clap
“Well done, kid, for acquiring such a strong slave,” Drishti applauded as she moved towards the sofa before taking a seat, folding her legs, and resting her chin on her hand supported by her thighs.
‘…..’
Both Regina and Ryuk kept looking at her with blank gazes, understanding the loss they would endure if engaged in an argument with her, balancing themselves, they focused on each other.
“My Liege, please give your first command,” Regina, in her knelt position, kept her gaze fixed downward while inquiring about her first orders.
“Why did you charge such a low amount for your battleship losses?” Ryuk inquired of Regina, a small smile visible on his face, already knowing everything from the conversation between the two women.
Drishti’s calling her a scammer moments ago and Regina wanting to return an amount of gold which was his previous life’s entire asset, made him at least understand that Regina had taken an extravagant amount from Drishti.
Will he just ignore this whole thing?
Absolutely not.
He will not leave this matter just like that. After all, he also suffered a huge loss with the destruction of his Spire and Energy Crystal, which may have been fulfilled from Drishti’s side but still, he wasn’t satisfied.
Moreover, isn’t it true that she also killed four of his trusted members he sent to her, accompanied by Dreck, members who were chosen precisely for their usefulness for this day?
“I-i…” Regina lifted her gaze, noticing Ryuk’s smile and then glancing at Drishti, whose expression had turned cold.
She understood everything, and of course, there couldn’t have been a better time for her to get back at her after being called a slave.
Slowly rising from her position, she calmly stated, “Exactly, it was a discount given to Lady Drishti, since she was acting as the proxy for Head Position. My Liege, I think now that she isn’t—”
“Don’t act innocent, Regina. You charged ten times the real price for that trash ship, which got hacked like it was nothing.” Drishti’s voice resonated inside the room, her gaze fixed with a dominating aura filling the whole room.
Without a sound, an enormous killing intent was focused on Regina’s body alone.
Ryuk could feel it too, just by standing beside her, understanding that he needed to do something to help Regina.
However, it seemed his help was not needed this time.
“Base cost: 1 billion. Upgrade cost another 1 billion. All crew salaries: 120 million, and maintenance was 200 million.” With a cold gaze, Regina looked down at the woman seated on the sofa, mentioning the charges without being intimidated by the enormous killing intent. She continued, “These are just charges for a normal day, Lady Drishti. You mobilized my whole division for your mere gameplay and costed the lives of twelve veterans. Don’t tell me you think that a life’s value is just some gold coins?”
“Heh, good, good,” Drishti slowly rose from her seat, composed and with glinting eyes as she looked at Regina.
Ryuk felt surprised at Regina’s composure under such pressure, knowing firsthand that even normal Legendary rankers couldn’t keep their cool in such situations.
A feeling as if your heart is exposed to a monster’s hot breath, with each beat causing suffocation and fear of being devoured at any moment.
But seeing Drishti offended, it seemed he needed to intervene. After all, he couldn’t lose his newly acquired knight just like that. He spoke up, “Why not we finalize it at 5 trill—”
“How much?” Drishti interrupted, standing with folded hands, her composed gaze fixed on Regina.
“My Liege, how much do you want?” Both already aware of Ryuk’s intentions of wanting compensation, they looked towards him to name the price.
Unexpectedly, seeing them, Ryuk couldn’t help but wonder why Drishti easily accepted Regina’s words without retaliation or anything.
But feeling both of their gazes, he decided not to back away now.
“How about 10 trillion?” Ryuk proposed, the maximum amount he could think of extorting.
“Just that much?” Drishti inquired with a frown, the amount not seeming to affect her much.
“How about 50?” Ryuk increased the value upon seeing her reaction, but still, it didn’t surprise her much.
“I thought you would extort a hefty sum, but that much is Fine by me,” Drishti nodded before sighing as if the amount was meager for her to pay.
Naturally, Ryuk wanted a large amount of money for expenses during his journey, and finding this to be the right time, he thought to get some money.
But now, seeing Drishti flaunting her wealth, it seemed he was being too greedy.
He shouldn’t act like a scammer and ask for such huge amounts from her.
A soft smile formed as he understood that being materialistic was unnecessary here. “Lady Drishti, I think charging so much gold coins from you was just greedy of me, without understanding how you could afford so much.”
“Huh, but I agreed to pay?” Drishti felt confused. Though the amount was high, it was affordable to her.
After all, she was in charge of the Expense department of the Devereaux family.
Instead of paying herself, she could just transfer all of it to Ryuk’s Flagbearer expenses, indirectly making him one day pay back all the amount with 10% interest.
But of course, she could only withdraw it one time, which is why she needed to know the exact amount now.
“No, I don’t want to burden you. How about you bear the expenses of everything once we are outside Ardoros?” Ryuk proposed with a calm smile, looking at the woman whose face visibly turned blank, understanding the young man’s words.
“How kind of you,” she couldn’t help but accept that she had been outsmarted by him.
“Thank you. Everyone says that,” he nodded slightly, accepting her compliment while also being accustomed to such words.
Drishti couldn’t find the words to say anything, seeing his straightforward reaction, not delving into this matter after already losing more than half of her assets.
Yes, she could clearly understand that the cost she needed to bear outside Ardoros would definitely exceed each one proposed by this young man until now.
But she didn’t feel disappointed; instead, she saw it as payment to witness something entertaining.
“Let’s go to the Flagbearers Confirmation Section now,” Drishti moved towards the doors, stating the work needed to confirm his participation in their battle.
“But didn’t you already accept me as Flagbearer?” Ryuk inquired while moving too, followed by Regina, referring to the announcement he had heard from Noah about being accepted as Flagbearer.
“Do you think those who even went as far as to destroy your Mother’s energy core will let someone like you be accepted as Flagbearer?” Halting in her path, Drishti turned to look at Ryuk’s face, now devoid of any emotions, gazing back at her.
Ryuk understood that if after some years he returned to claim his position in the heir battle, there was a chance they would deny his participation due to lack of evidence.
It was something that wasn’t unexpected from these people.
“Lady Drishti, can you tell me the names of all the people behind that conspiracy?”
