“Isn’t it obvious? Let’s go to your bedroom first,” Ryuk reciprocated her smile.
“Aren’t you asking for too much now?” Drishti’s face turned serious, understanding the meaning behind his words.
“Getting it once wasn’t enough; I need more,” Ryuk expressed his desire to acquire more Artifacts, not just one, or at least see for himself what hidden treasures lay inside that room.
“I will let you have everything once you’ve won the heir battle. How’s this?” Drishti proposed, knowing that those treasures held little value for her, and in exchange for her hobbies, they were trivial.
If Ryuk performed well enough, it wouldn’t be a big loss for her.
“I appreciate it, Lady Drishti,” Ryuk finally achieved the results he desired, knowing that it would be impossible for him to obtain anything without a deal, which was now settled.
If he had asked for this in the middle of the heir battle or at any other time, it was clear that due to her less interest in him, she would have never accepted it. But right now, he was an Ascendancy level powerhouse.
‘Did I choose the wrong guy for my granddaughter?’ Seeing the kind-hearted young man flirting with an other woman and of that level, sweat beads formed on the old man’s forehead as he observed everything since early, doubting his decisions.
“Lady Drishti, could you suggest a place for me to increase my physical strength?” Ryuk inquired, already aware that no one could be a better teacher than the founding ancestor herself, but he doubted that he could really learn something from her.
He didn’t doubt her, but he wanted to hear Drishti’s recommendations.
“If it is regarding physical strength, then there is no one better than the Dariants to teach you,” Drishti narrowed her gaze, glancing towards Ryuk’s whole body as if gauging something, and informed him about the most suitable race.
“Hm, Darian—” Before Ryuk could think further about this race, he was interrupted by a voice.
“Please reconsider, my liege. Visiting that place isn’t recommended; it could be a problem,” Regina came forward, slightly bowing and informing about the need to avoid that place should be a priority.
“Why is that, Regina?” Naturally, he wanted to hear Drishti’s recommendation but didn’t want to trust them blindly.
What if, for her amusement, she placed him in some deadlock? That was why he inquired about her recommendation now instead of elsewhere.
“Once the heir belonging to the second major branch family, Devereaux-Blairs, went to that continent. While there, he was killed at the hands of a man,” Regina explained the reason. Before noticing Ryuk’s gaze, she further explained, “Even though it was the fault of that heir, the Blairs declared war against the Dariants.”
Halting in her way, Regina noticed changes in Ryuk’s facial expression and added, “After killing that man, the head of the Blair family wanted to eradicate the whole race on the pretext of his anger, but it became a huge mistake for them. The Dariants, being cornered, showed their might and took the lives of 2 LEGENDARY rankers and 6 EPIC ones.”
“How many did they lose?” Ryuk, having already fought with LEGENDARY Level powerhouses, knew that even a single one of them, unleashing all their energy, could be enough to destroy an area of more than 120 miles, considering mana-infused lands.
“12,000,” Regina informed, aware that the losses from the Dariants’ side were irreplaceable, but it was a rule that the strong ones crushed the weaker ones.
“How many years have passed since then?” Time heals everything, or at least it will calm down the rage boiling inside them, which could be helpful for him.
“Liege, this event happened 98 years ago,” Regina replied, glancing towards Drishti’s direction, who seemed busy commanding some newly arrived men, specifically crew members for their ship.
Meaning, Drishti had already decided, so the best Regina could do was make Ryuk tell everything.
“98 years, it’s not that long, but there is hope,” Ryuk remarked, not looking at things from his old world’s perspective, where the average age was 60 years, but in this world, even 100 years would be like some 20-30 years ago.
“Liege, exactly, it is not the end. Just three years ago, the head of the Blair family was killed by the daughter of that same man,” Regina revealed a crucial issue here, seeing Ryuk reaching conclusions.
“So, is there any retaliation from the Devereaux family?” Technically, if it was some heir’s death, then it should be the family’s problem, but now that a head of a major branch family had died, it was inevitable for the Devereaux family to intervene.
“Ahem,” the old man, seeing the conversation between Regina and Ryuk becoming an embarrassing history for him, intervened. “Young Master, exactly, the previous head of the Blair family is the father of my granddaughter. So, I would like to take the conversation from here.”
Hearing the voice that had etched in Ryuk’s mind due to hearing it not known how many times, once again, he prepared himself to hear.
“Exactly, I had allowed him to marry my daughter because both of them were in love. But it seemed Blair just wanted to get hold of me, who had addresses of Flagbearers. After the birth of my granddaughter, my daughter committed suicide seeing me becoming helpless, and the end result was me taking away my granddaughter with me,” the old man’s eyes turned downward with visible pain resurfacing, which was hidden behind a facade to help his granddaughter grow with a good life for all these years, with a lost smile forming on the helpless man.
“But what happened after the Devereaux family took actions?” Ryuk, not insensitive to his emotions, but when someone scratches healed wounds, it just gets worse, so he changed the topic.
“Oh, Haha, yes, I forgot about that. Exactly after Blair’s death, the head of the family himself went to eradicate the whole Dariant race. But it seemed that they collided with the strongest being in existence there, Haha,” internally, in some corner of his heart, after Blair’s death, he had hoped that the person who killed him remained safe. It seemed breaking when the decree was passed, but the Devereaux family had to take back their decree within a few days.
‘Strongest being?’ Forgetting about all things, Ryuk focused on that particular word of the old man’s, since he was already beside someone who was considered the epitome of strength, if not for her confusing habits.
Naturally, there are two types of individuals: the first type exudes strength, discipline, and overwhelming presence, while the second type appears approachable and calm until they decide to assert their unfathomable might.
And among both of them, the second are far more dangerous, since no one knows when a single thing will offend them.
And until now, Ryuk had already understood the category Drishti fell into, making him always be on guard to speak calmly without becoming too friendly with her.
“It was a relief that Lady Drishti convinced that figure, somehow,” the old man scratched his chin while remembering how, out of all the delegates, Lady Drishti herself decided to meet someone, even with her well-known isolated personality.
‘So, that figure even made her involved in it, but the question remains,’ Ryuk speculated on the threat level for Drishti herself meeting someone, then turned towards the old man and inquired, “Who is that figure?”
A thing I want to clarify, not spoilers: Old Man never revealed that his Granddaughter is Demi-human, I mean half blood, He just forget to mention it. ~ Just Informing you guys.
