Reincarnated and Regressed Villain – Make heroines beg for forgiveness – Chapter 123

123 Chapter 123- Meeting an old friend

{A/n: Illustration of twins for better visualization}

“Damn it!” Gritting his teeth, the man threw the unconscious body of the young girl inside the cell.

Thud

Looking at the fallen body, the man’s gaze turned towards his hand, which had a burn mark, making him want to kill her that instant. “Damn you, brat!”

“Isn’t it a blaster shot?” One of his comrades calmly came forward, looking at his wound.

“Yes, that brat was much tougher than I thought,” the man replied, glancing at the figure inside the cell while rubbing his hand.

“But aren’t you an Adept ranked? Could have just beaten her up?” the man inquired.

“Tch, if not for the Mayor’s orders to bring this shit in one piece, I would have smashed her body into pieces,” gritting his teeth, the man let out his frustration.

“So the Mayor is behind all this, hm?” Placing his hand on his chin, the man thought about something, confusing the other guy and prompting him to inquire, “Hey, weren’t you also there? Why are you acting like you don’t know?”

“Oh, he was also there?” The man pointed towards himself, his words and gesture not matching.

“You—SKCHLT!”

“Kuugghhh!?” Suddenly feeling a force from behind and then intense pain in his chest, the man turned his gaze downward to look at the area around his chest hollow, as if the flesh in that place was torn through.

“Cough!…. THUD.” Instantly, blood dripping from his mouth, the man fell to the ground, his eyes becoming devoid of life.

“Woah, how do you do it without moving?” Being wrapped around Ryuk’s arm, the woman saw how everything happened instantaneously.

It took 3 seconds to arrive here and 1 second to kill two of them, leaving behind the third one for some interrogation.

“I did move.” Ryuk glanced at the woman with a soft smile. Thinking about her ability, he inquired, “So, your illusions aren’t just playing with the target’s mind?”

The reason for his inquiry was the fact that even using soul gaze, he wasn’t able to see through it, his senses also kept denying the fact that it was all illusion.

In conclusion, mana signature, energy density, power level of that individual, added with smell and sensation around this place, everything seemed far more real than reality itself.

“Hm, how about you tell me first how strong you are, and then I will tell you my secret?” Caressing his hand before taking it away from her waist, the woman slid through his grip and folded her hands, looking at him.

‘….’ Ryuk didn’t have anything to hide, but the problem was, could he trust her?

“I am at Early Legendary,” he said, not paying attention to the boy wrapped in his left hand, whose eyes were widened with his mouth sticking tightly together, not letting even a breath make its way out of him.

‘H-he killed all three of them!’ Sam’s eyes couldn’t believe the scene he just witnessed. It was super fast but enough for him to guess what happened through those three bloodied bodies lying there.

Of course, he had seen people die before, but it was the first time witnessing such one-sided, lightning-fast action replay without a break.

For a moment, he even felt like the one holding him was an afterimage, more like he was static in the air due to how fast he was caught again.

“So, you are lying now,” the woman said, hearing such a blatant lie from his mouth but not caring much since it was his choice. She informed, “My ability doesn’t influence someone’s brain to show illusions. More specifically, it was used to do that at the initial level, but now it can manipulate the surrounding mana to create the most realistic illusions, since mana is what makes things around here.”

‘Isn’t it just reality manipulation?’ It was the only thing that came into his mind.

“What are you even thinking? It isn’t that overpowered,” the woman giggled, understanding the first thing that would come to mind for anyone after knowing working principle of her ability, let alone the masked man in front of her.

“Then?” Ryuk inquired while looking at the woman, who moved towards the cell where Mae was thrown a moment ago.

“I cannot permanently change something, Um, you could have already guessed. I am just at Adept level, so I can only use my ability for a limited time,” the woman informed, slowly lifting the lying girl in a princess carry.

“I see.” Of course, Ryuk wanted to know about that time limit, but it would be like revealing her weakness, clearly indicating it needed enormous trust.

Would someone who just met few hours ago show so much trust?

“Maybe like 5-6 hours, I guess?” She thought about the approximate time and told him.

‘…’ Ryuk stood as she passed beside him while carrying the girl.

Coming out of his thoughts and turning towards her, he inquired, “Should we first drop the children at home and then do our work?”

“Yes, we can, but you sounded just like a husband,” with a smile, the woman left the place while Ryuk turned his attention towards those men lying dead, ignoring her words, commanding, ‘System, is there really a Demonic signature here?’

[Host, it seems these individuals have come in contact with something carrying Demonic energy, though it is negligible. But yes, they indeed have an Energy Signature.]

‘….Mayor’, everything seemed to be related to that guy, but it will be a hassle if he as a Flagbearer killed someone of that rank, but again looking at already three bodies lying on the ground, he just decided to go with the flow.

Turning towards the direction where woman disappeared before glancing at the boy in his left arm looking back at him with scared appearance, teary eyes, and contracted demeanor, causing a smile to form on Ryuk’s face, adding, “How about we pick up your big sister in our way?”

‘N-no, they were right, these flagbearers are monsters’, Sam could only see the same amber light shrouding the young man’s body with his eyes seeing a blurring figure.

Despite its origins over hundred years ago, the town, spanning 50 square miles, has evolved from its humble beginnings into a rundown area following a war.

A war which happened between an entire race and 10 individuals.

At the center of this town existed a single piece architecture built on carved stones, polished with precision and inscriptions making the detailed engravings on it always remain clean and beautiful.

Naturally, it wasn’t made by cutting some mountains or something, but it was like a single white stone, cut into a mansion, pillars with intricate designs, far more majestic than any palace on Heindal.

SWISH

Ignoring the metal gates guarded by two individuals of ADEPT ranks, a figure started to materialize just at a distance from that stone-carved mansion, near the center fountain.

‘Even a blind could tell why this town is in ruins’, Ryuk’s eyes directly fell on the enormous mansion in front of him, huge in size with architecture which was just grandiose for a mere Mayor’s mansion, it was clear where all the money for repairing of this town would have gone.

"So, Diana, what's your excuse for betraying me?" His amber glinted eyes bore into the woman with bloodied, broken blue hair, kneeling in complete disarray. "... you're evil." "Oh, so, looking out for all of you makes me evil?" The man narrowed his eyes, contemplating the echoes of protagonist halos and heroines' mentality, starkly real now. Coming from a world far removed from such grim reality, he had read about these personalities in novels, but experiencing their shortcomings firsthand was a different story. "How am I evil?" He looked down at his foot where a young man, limbless and crushed, lay in a state of complete brokenness, mustering the little strength he had left to utter some words. "... y.. you ba..stard, You killed millions." Hearing these words, the man's internal amusement grew at the absurdity of these hypocritical people. He had eradicated all the evil organizations within the Empire after ascending to his throne. Wars were waged to crush rebellious kingdoms that stood against his Empire, uniting the entire Heidal Continent under one flag—the Selvius Empire. He shifted his gaze towards another woman with pink hair, her body completely broken, supported by a rock to maintain a semblance of balance amidst the devastation. "Hmm, so what about you, Karina? Wasn't your family about to be executed by the Aidiac Royal family? Is it wrong for me to have intervened?" "You killed them without mercy, and although you saved my family, it was not worth it." "I just saved—" "It's bullshit. You could have solved everything peacefully without drawing so much blood." Hearing all this, the man began to understand why those novels depicted these people as hypocritical and low in intelligence. If he hadn't saved them, they would have suffered the most gruesome fate. Yet, despite being saved, these ungrateful individuals chose to blame him. The bitter irony of their ingratitude gnawed at him, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. "Guess you all have the same reasons." The man looked towards the seven people, their disdainful gazes directed at him. He had only aimed to change their fates, to rescue some from slavery, others from crippling circumstances, and a few from inevitable betrayal. Yet, they all blamed him for saving them, unable to comprehend that he had severed the root causes that would have subjected them to excruciating suffering. "Hahaha." "Indeed, now I see." He now understood what those novels had tried to convey—'these idiots think this whole world works like they think it would.' 'System.........
