“Let me tell you. So, the son of Woman A, who was responsible for that girl’s father’s death, entered the same place,” Luna slowly stood, her eyes gleaming with amusement as she realized the complexity of the situation. Glancing at Diana, she said, “And COINCIDENTALLY, that girl fell in love with her Father’s Murderer’s Son.”
“Now tell me, what will that girl do when she realizes these things?” Luna asked, her eyes fixed on the woman whose eyes were widened from grasping the gist of things. Yet, not giving her a chance to reply, Luna added options, “So, will the girl backstab that boy or forgive him?”
“…She will forgive him,” Diana’s gaze turned cold, realizing the depth of the situation to be more than she anticipated.
“Oh, and why is that?” Luna, slightly perplexed, looked at her sister, whose face was cold with a sharply focused gaze, inquiring back at her.
“I saw that woman’s eyes, they were repulsive,” Diana gritted her teeth, remembering those golden pupils looking back at her with visible mockery and challenge.
If she hadn’t been so far from her, she would have torn that woman to pieces at that moment.
“Repulsive, you say? And here I heard they were enchantingly golden,” Luna remarked, feigning ignorance as she observed her sister’s frustrated expression.
“…Not every glittering thing is gold, especially if it belongs to that woman,” Diana replied, clearly not in a good mood.
Her mind kept replaying thoughts of that woman, those golden eyes, warning her to stay away.
At this moment, Diana felt a strong urge to separate her beloved from that woman.
The reflection of those two amber eyes and the man whose every shadow should have belonged to her inside those golden pupils—these thoughts were enough to make her want to kill that woman.
“Set your jealousy aside, Diana, and tell me, do you understand how things are unfolding?” Luna asked, feeling helpless as she observed her sister’s obsession.
“…I don’t think there’s any clear direction when that woman holds the potential to betray him,” Diana replied, her eyes downward, contemplating the slim chances of being able to manipulate that woman like others.
As a Riantain, Diana had been taught from an early age to understand body language, emotions, and human anatomy.
Consequently, she was skilled at discerning human weaknesses, emotional states, and how to exploit them for her benefit.
However, that woman’s body language and gaze were crystal clear to Diana, warning her to stay away from that man—Something which she wasn’t going to do atleast until she is alive.
“Fine, now tell me, what do you understand from that story? For example, the names of those women and the whole story?” Luna inquired, not wanting to reveal all the details until Diana decided for herself and understood the situation.
Her intention was clear— stay away from that young man.
“Alisia Devereaux was Woman A, who found Esme’s father and allowed him to accompany her and have runic inscriptions made by him. Soon after, a Tenebri fell in love with that man,” Diana explained, calmly sharing her perspective with her sister.
“And then, the Head of the branch family, called Blair-Devereaux, under the orders of his supporting flagbearer, killed that man. This led the woman to lose her trust in Alisia Devereaux, whose own bloodline had killed the man,” Diana continued, piecing together the story as she understood it, although she acknowledged some missing pieces.
“After relentless searching for a safe place for her upcoming child, woman went to an unknown isolated continent and gave birth to two daughters,” Diana deduced, completing her thoughts. “After a few years, the woman took her elder daughter, Esme, and escaped the deteriorating continent which was affecting her health—”
“Sigh, Diana, don’t you understand?” Luna interrupted, rubbing her forehead, frustrated that Diana only grasped part of the story, leaving out crucial details.
Swish
“I don’t think there’s anything more to know about that woman,” Diana said, rising abruptly from her seat, her hand swiftly summoning a wooden stick.
Luna narrowed her gaze, observing Diana’s battle-ready stance, indicating her impulsive desire to confront the girl without considering the consequences, which made Luna’s expression stoic.
SWOOSH
“Diana, your judgment seems clouded when it comes to that boy. But remember, don’t make hasty decisions based on impulse,” Luna stated, her aura instantly filling the room with dense mana, causing Diana’s whole body to freeze as she stared intensely at her sister.
WHOOSH
“Don’t test my patience, Sister Luna. I can’t lose him because of your interference,” Diana’s aura burst forth, causing a disruptive reaction inside the room, which slowly expanded outward.
SWISH
“…What magic has he used on my little sister to make her fight me?” Luna sighed, observing her sister’s childish behavior as her entire body vanished into thin air, reappearing directly beside Diana.
‘?!’
“You cannot stop me!” Diana retaliated, understanding her sister’s intent to prevent her from leaving and taking action against that Tenebri girl.
BAM!
“Diana, hold your horses. Don’t think I can’t address your behavior in my own way,” Luna firmly stated, blocking Diana’s punch and noticing the intense emotions in her sister’s eyes, realizing Diana was about to do something reckless.
“Then let me go,” Diana calmly insisted, hoping for a chance to leave and deal with the woman as soon as possible.
“I will let you go, but first tell me, what is Esme’s mother’s name?” Luna saw no reason to delay any longer.
“…Why does it matter?” Diana narrowed her gaze, not understanding why she needed to know the family details of someone destined to be a dead body soon.
“Dalia. That’s the woman’s name,” Luna revealed directly, gripping Diana’s fist tightly, sharing the name of Esme’s mother.
‘!?!’
‘…Dalia Tenebri?’ Diana’s mind raced as she recognized the name, but she quickly dismissed the thought, assuming it was a coincidence.
“More specifically, she’s the mother of Alia Tenebri, the girl you went to meet a few days ago,” Luna’s grip loosened as she sensed Diana’s anger subsiding, her eyes reflecting her own shock.
“N-no, wait. But don’t they have different eye colors?” Diana’s mind was flooded with emotions, primarily shock, as she realized how complicated the situation had become.
Meaning, Alia, whom she had manipulated and ensured would use her perfectly, with the end goal of being able to claim Ryuk for himself after killing her when Ryuk finally lost in battle.
However, everything failed due to some idiots not playing their roles perfectly.
But now, Ryuk was entangled with Alia’s sister, who had betrayed him in a past life.
Everything was just confusing for Diana; she couldn’t understand exactly what was happening here.
“Didn’t I already tell you, coincidentally both sisters were not twins?” Luna, seeing Diana’s widened eyes and relaxed body posture, finally found the results satisfactory, even making her realize the stupidity of her sister.
Diana would have gone to kill the woman who was under the protection of the world’s strongest, but she stopped when she realized that the woman was the sister of some random Epic ranker whom she held some hatred towards.
‘…Exactly what’s going on with you,’ Luna had already observed in all these five years how Diana had evolved from an isolated kid to a prodigy, working hard and even pushing her body limits to finally reach ZENITH.
It may seem easy to achieve strength and ranks inside Aurora Nest where time was much longer than in the real world, but if time were the only thing to make someone strong, then elves or dragons would be gods or the strongest in this world.
So, one needed to endure agony, pain, and endless struggle to become strong, which Diana went through in these five years.
And all this suffering for just a man.
Luna couldn’t understand how someone could go so far as to destroy themselves just to become strong enough for someone they could never have.
Thud
“No, Sister Luna, how could this be? No,” Diana fell into her seat, hands covering her face, her eyes peeking intensely through the gaps.
Diana’s mind was a whirlpool of thoughts. Alia, who should have rotted away on that small continent, now had a chance to reconcile with Ryuk because of her sister, and leave Alia aside.
What if that woman, Esme, opened Ryuk’s heart to make way for others to have a chance too?
“I need to kill her as soon as possible.” Diana remained far calmer than anyone who had come to know about something so crucial; her mind was set on uprooting the cause of everything.
“Sigh, why are you so hard to understand, Diana?” Luna couldn’t help but feel confused. Even after revealing several things that should have diverted Diana’s attention from that woman, she remained hell-bent on killing her.
“….Fine, what do you want me to do, Sister?” Diana, understanding her sister’s intentions upon seeing her provide such crucial information, calmed herself and waited for Luna to speak her mind.
“Good, now you’re listening,” Luna finally felt the chance to speak her mind after all her hard work, seizing the opportunity to ask, “Tell me, Diana, did you kill Alisia Devereaux?”
“….No,” Diana replied straightforwardly, not understanding the reason for Luna’s inquiry but remaining patient for her next words.
“Listen to me, Diana. The Demon Queen wants to attack Titanora. Do you think it’s a coincidence?” Luna inquired again, her eyes fixed on Diana’s expressions.
“I… don’t think Ryuk would be behind all this, right?” Diana wasn’t sure either, seeking confirmation from Luna’s perspective. If indeed Ryuk was involved in provoking the Demon Queen, then things were more complicated.
“Time will reveal itself, but for now, keep your distance from him until I confirm his involvement. Do you understand?”
“….yes”
