‘It will be an interesting battle,’ a smile formed on Drishti’s face as she anticipated watching a battle worth her time.
“What do you want?” Finally understanding that Drishti’s appearance here was driven by well-known motives to fulfill her interests, Man inquired without caring about anything else.
Yes, her personality was well-known throughout Ardoros—always remaining within the boundaries of the Devereaux Family and searching for something interesting.
“Nothing, just wanted to make sure you don’t hold back,” Drishti said with a small smile, making clear one of her reasons for being here.
“Sorry?” Even after hearing her words, Man couldn’t believe that all this drama was just for those words, prompting him to inquire further.
“And, don’t intervene in the battle between Ryuk and him,” Drishti said, narrowing her eyes as she revealed the major reason for her presence.
Having already witnessed this man’s previous aggressive stance in searching for cures of Edward Abernathy’s hands, Drishti knew he would again intervene and disrupt such a good show for her.
‘?!’
“Wh-what!” The man’s eyes instantly widened, realizing the whole thing was created only by this woman to protect Ryuk Devereaux. “You cannot do it, Lady Drishti!”
“I will also not intervene if something happens to him. What do you say?” Drishti placed both hands on her folded knees, sitting comfortably, her eyes glancing at the man, ignoring the reddened face of the young man behind him, whose body was trying to adept to that unknown force suppressing it.
An interesting aspect was that, it was working, making her remember Edward Abernathy’s Awakened ability.
Indeed, due to having all the abilities of the other three major families’ bloodlines, the Abernathy family, in reference with the Tenebri Bloodline, Awakened an ability to its user.
And Edward Abernathy Awakened the ability called Adept, meaning his body will adapt to any surrounding, be it energy, poison, or other harsh conditions, and mold itself as most suitable possible.
Something which was in itself overpowered, since it also applied to the fighting styles of opponents.
But for Drishti, he was far less interesting than someone who was able to control her own body against her will.
‘I forgot to ask him,’ she reminded herself, to ask Ryuk whether that attack he had done last time was still inside her body or removed, not that she cared.
“Lady Drishti, I will remember this day,” the man gritted his jaws in frustration, glaring at the woman who needed to pay for the humiliation of this day.
SWISH
While in a seated position, Drishti’s body started to become transparent as it slowly disappeared, leaving a few words reverberating inside the control room. “Of course, you shall, or else I will kill you.”

In the capital city, where five huge onyx-black architectures lay on the ground, surrounded by several individuals emanating sharp pressure, tap tap sounds echoed.
tap tap
Inside one of those battleships, several footsteps resonated through the long metallic hallway leading in a certain direction.
“Big Sis, where are you going?” Mae inquired to the woman leading them, clad in a white dress, accompanied by four more individuals belonging to the Devereaux family, evident from their orange eyes.
“…You both need to be placed somewhere safe,” Esme calmly suggested to the twins, already sensing the mana fluctuations occurring outside the battleship.
Due to her ability, the connection between her and mana was strong enough to make her feel even the slightest or negligible fluctuations, just like last time when a woman tried to spy on them using some artifact.
And right now, due to her ability, she could feel two huge battleships moving towards their direction while several strong individuals scattered all over the continent.
It was clear that a battle would soon occur, especially with the Demon Queen’s declaration and the arrival of the Abernathy family, whose history was well known to her—everything pointed towards an inevitable battle.
“We’ve arrived, My Lady,” one of the cloaked figures informed as they arrived outside a metallic door.
TING!
With the given authorization, the metallic gates slid upward, revealing the large room filled with sofas and a huge king-size bed.
“Fine, Mae and Sam, you both are going inside now,” Esme firmly stated to both of the children, causing them to look at each other before hugging her.
“No! You are not going alone, outside!” Mae retorted as she clenched Esme tightly, gripping her dress to prevent her from doing something stupid.
For Mae, the only family left were either her brother or big sister.
Except for them, there was no one whom she really knew.
“Big Sis, let that rude guy handle the fight. You can’t do anything with this twig body of yours,” Sam also joined in, hugging her tightly while reminding her of how she could not fight with her twig-like body and should leave everything on Ryuk Devereaux.
A visible twitch formed on Esme’s face, her hand clenching into a fist before she controlled her frustration, only for this time due to the emergency situation. “Fine, I will go inside with you guys.”
It was Esme’s plan to use this as an excuse to take these kids inside the room before safely locking it, at least for now.
Behind her, all of the four men’s intense gaze were fixed on her, a visible understanding passed through them as they remained calm, following the orders they were given by their Liege.
“You are lying, aren’t you?” Mae saw through her directly, causing her eyes to narrow in suspicion. But Esme, proving her skills, kept a stoic face.
“You don’t trust me?” Esme gently inquired, yet received an instant head shake from both the twins, causing her eyes to close in frustration before turning towards the room.
“Fine, let’s enter together,” Esme sighed, moving inside the room with both the twins.
As they entered the room, she moved towards the sofa before sitting on it.
….
“Are you an illusion?” Mae came an inch away from Esme’s face, her eyes narrowed in suspicion, while poking Esme’s cheeks to verify her doubt.
FLICK
“Ouch!” Mae finally confirmed her suspicion, retreating back and taking a seat on the other side of the sofa.
Sam was busy eating the food served on the table, glancing towards the guards who seemed shrouded in dense mana, all of them intensely focused on them without blinking once.
Eventually, Sam turned his eyes towards Esme, realizing that instead of them, all four guards were keeping tabs on her to prevent her from leaving the room.
‘Sigh, are they really that strong?’ Sam couldn’t help but doubt the strength of these four individuals emanating such pressure yet falling for the illusion of his big sis.
At least he could think that his sister was an idiot, but how could four who were supposed to protect them when they were not able to see through this whole thing?
‘Really, I need some sleep.’
Sam stood and moved towards the bed before directly falling onto it.

‘It was unexpected,’ a smile formed on Ryuk’s face as he teasingly looked to his left where a woman with golden pupils, wearing a white dress and a tiara, was approaching.
As she arrived, her golden pupils reflected the black-masked man and the military-informed woman with a half-white mask.
Esme’s eyes softened as she stood beside the young man, looking towards the sky with a composed expression, whispering, “I may be weak, but not weak enough to hold you back.”
