“Y-young Master, Rui Ke! You finally arrived!” At last, Bone Breaker heard the voice he had been anticipating ever since he cursed his fate and the man who had fled, abandoning them to endure their misery.
Without hesitation, he leaped back and knelt in front of the black-robed man who stood with both hands behind him.
“N-no, Elder Brother?! No!” The soldier beside the decapitated body that had recently hit the ground felt his vision blur with rage as he directed his gaze at the unknown man in the black outfit with striking amber eyes, who had arrived and brutally ended a life in an instant.
“Y-you!” The soldier attempted to let out a scream, gathering his inner strength before propelling himself at the figure in the black robe, who stood resolutely, calmly awaiting his approach.
‘He will be blood pulp,’ Number 1 thought, looking towards the soldier charging towards Young Master Rui Ke.
‘Blood pulp? More like future fertilizer,’ Number 2 beside him shrugged his shoulder as simultaneous thoughts crossed their minds.
‘He’s about to be a permanent part of the landscape,’ Number 3 nudged his elbow.
“Senior! Please spare me!” The soldier quickly dropped to both knee, gliding across the terrain as he lowered his head to the earth, refraining from seeking vengeance for his fallen comrade, fully aware that the odds were not on his side. ‘Fuck, fuck, how did someone this strong come from the lower town?’
‘Shit, coward!’ Number 1 through Number 3 all frowned, seeing such a weakling surrendering like some pig wailing their eyes out in pain; even they couldn’t fall this low to beg for their life.
Naturally, unlike most people, the soldiers from the border towns had experience since they always encountered someone low-key with unfathomable strength colliding with them at borders, and due to the soldiers’ inferior strength, they acted ignorant only to meet death.
So, even at the cost of losing his self-respect, ego, and attitude, if he survived today, it would be a miracle.
“What to do with him, Young Master?” Bone Breaker asked, looking towards the now-kowtowed soldier trembling with fear.
“No need for bloodshed, just move,” Ryuk ignored the soldier before passing beside him, knowing well it would take too much time for him to leave this hassle and enter Upper Town.
“Yes, he hates bloodshed,” Esme trailed behind, keeping her expression and voice perfectly emotionless, employing her illusion as she walked alongside Ryuk.
[Yes, Host, feel absolute hatred for those who do bloodshed >.< ] '.....' Ryuk, hearing both of these people giving useless remarks, kept ignoring them while observing the place where he had noticed several strong individuals with Phase I strength present around the whole Middle Town, but none of them were strong enough. His main aim was to enter Upper Town, but before that, he needed to recover his energy, as Upper Town may hold more dangers and could be harder for him to deal with if he had fewer energy reserves. The second minor reason to pass through Middletown was a doubt about whether he would again be brought into some random cliché plot or not, just like how meeting Liu Wei was an obvious plot where Ryuk was brought into a scene where a face-slap event was going to occur. Additionally, Xiang Zhen was kidnapped without much evidence by someone heading towards Upper Town, and right now, Ryuk was about to enter Middle Town, where most of the merchants and trades occurred. Yet he remained calm and did not act hastily, as it could be a trap to lure him, or perhaps the opposition he would face could be much stronger than he was. [Host, should I give that woman a shock? O_o] '...Leave it, she will just come here and inquire how I did it,' Ryuk rejected the offer, where the System, like previously, had severed the connection of soul projection, once again offering a way to give Drishti a shock since she was using her strength to keep an eye on Ryuk, who was invisible to her. Indeed, from the moment he vanished from Lower Town, he erased his presence, causing him to get notifications about how a woman, specifically a powerful one, was trying to tear through the mana to keep his location pinpoint, causing her to go so far as to stitch a path to here. Naturally, one can use their own mana to expand and keep an eye, but it is done in two ways: Sound travels through specific vibrational transfers or wave transfers, similar to how mana can move information through collisions of its particles or by consolidating all the mana into a wave-oriented framework. To Ryuk, hailing from the modern era, this resembled the concept of a ball being disturbed in one spot, resulting in the transfer of kinetic energy to others; similarly, a person harnesses mana particles to relay every detail, from images to auditory information by applying the same method. However, it was evident that various vibrations occurring in the interim could cause the information to become hazy or somewhat incorrect. This leads to the use of a bridge or rope technique, where mana particles are organized into a string-like formation. Much like how two individuals holding opposite ends of a rope can convey messages, the alternate method operated in a similar fashion, sending information through waves from one end to the other. But what would happen if one end sent an electric current to the other end, where a person had positioned the string close to her ears? Clearly, it was feasible to send Drishti a brief wake-up call, but Ryuk certainly preferred she stay away and simply savor the show, as it would ensure her absence from this place and the hassle she would bring. "Young Master, why aren't we directly entering Upper Town?" Bone Breaker felt confused since, seeing how they were able to directly arrive here at the gates of Middle Town, couldn't they just directly teleport to Upper Town? "We will rest here," Ryuk calmly replied as they all entered the gates, causing several pedestrians to glance in their direction. Their eyes reflected a black-robed figure, with the lower half of his face visible; it was clear he possessed enough handsomeness to cause a few blushes among the women nearby as he passed by them. In conclusion, Ryuk's plan was simply to enter Upper Town and use the Wei family to join that test, but an issue occurred since he needed some time to recover the energy he had lost last night in that sword strike. So, slightly changing the plan, he decided to wait in Middle Town and collect some information about families in Upper Town. "There is an inn at the end of the third left turn." Ryuk moved, followed by others while his senses covered the whole area as he made his way, while others kept following him cautiously, keeping their eyes on the nearby gazes from several individuals. ---- "Bring some dumplings, noodles, and wine," Number 1 went to the reception while passing through the heavy crowd inside the inn, where several individuals dressed in expensive robes patterned in traditional style with flower patterns were seated while glancing in their direction. Mostly, they were curious about the identity of the weak young man who was followed by four servants stronger than him, a woman dressed in white following him with a unqiue face which wasn't getting memorized by them, adding to their curiosity. Unbeknownst to them, Esme's face was covered in an illusion for anyone to see through her. Seated just a short distance from them, a group of four beautifully silk-robed women exchanged glances, one of them slurring slightly as her wine-slicked lips curled into a playful smile. With a tipsy charm lighting up her flushed face, she leaned closer and proposed to her friends,"With those fiery orange eyes and that irresistible smile, I've made up my mind—I'm going to take him all night long."
