Chapter 1462: To the Dueling Ground
“Yep! Just as they said. You target a person and anything you throw at them, given enough velocity, will hit them,” Tim said as he read the book in front of him.
He was in his bed, his eyes lacking energy, his skin lacking elasticity, and his overall body with no strength. He looked as though he was at death’s door, ready to die at any moment.
Tiffany’s knife had been brought back for him to record in his room, which he did while remaining as weak as he was.
“That makes it 7, right?” Jasmine asked. “We need 3 more treasures.”
Tim nodded weakly. “And we only have a day more to go,” he said.
“We will get another one in 4 hours. Just wait for that,” Jasmine said. “Rest up. It all rests on you now.”
Tim spent the next 3 hours doing his best to prepare for the duel. Around 11, he finally left his room and freshened up, getting ready to go to the dueling area in the section of the town that was under Redfist pirates.
Tim, Jasmine, Ning, and Tony made their way to the west side of the town, arriving at the location that was provided to them by pirates of the Redfist pirates
Tim was pretty worried about the overall fight, and somehow excited at the same time. He was in a similar situation as Jasmine where he knew he couldn’t die or get hurt too badly.
Ning would save him and heal him immediately.
Still, along the way, he decided to make a little more preparation.
The group arrived at Redfist’s dueling area, which was a large dirt-filled mound about 20 feet on all sides, barred with ropes that seemed to be stuck together, forming a compound.
The ropes being stuck together was something Tim and the rest recognized as Redfist’s first mate’s power. The Rope treasure could tie anything together permanently and require one to use the treasure again if they wanted to untie it.
“You have arrived,” Redfist spoke as he moved out from the mound where he seemed to have been sparring with a few of his pirates, in preparation for this duel.
“I have indeed come,” Tim said, staring at Redfist’s body.
Redfist’s upper body was bare, glistening in sweat that moved through the crevices formed by his extremely muscular body.
“What’s wrong? Scared?” Redfist asked.
“Yes,” Tim said truthfully. “But I’ll still fight you.”
Redfist chuckled a little. “Don’t worry, you won’t die. I’ll stop right before killing you so you can return only wounded,” he said.
“Thanks for being so considerate,” Tim said with a scoff.
“Alright, get ready. Go warm up and we’ll begin the duel in 10 minutes,” Redfist said. “Gouge, tell him all the rules and make sure he doesn’t do anything sneaky.”
Tim was moved to the side where he began warming up, while Gouge started explaining to him the rules of the battle.
“The duel will be a simple hand-to-hand fight with no weapons of any sort. You can wear gloves, but they can’t be padded or altered to make them strong. You cannot wear any clothes to soften the impact either and your harder treasures must be kept in places where it can’t hurt the other fighter.”
Tim listened to the rules, nodding each time while jumping around a bit, getting his arms and legs flexible.
He took into heart the knowledge he received there. Can’t hit with open palms, no striking the eyes or the nether regions.
“Any restrictions on the treasures?” Tim asked.
“That will be for you to decide,” Gouge said. “Do you wish to fight without a treasure or with one? Our Captain will follow you to do the same.”
“Use my treasures,” Tim said. “Definitely use my treasure.”
“Then that is how the fight shall proceed,” Gouge said. “You will win when you knock out the other person or force them to give up.”
The warming up was complete, and Tim placed his treasures around his hip where it would be out of place for anyone who would be fighting with him.
Tim hid the things on his own, not letting the others see the treasures he had. It would cause a bit of trouble if people saw how many he had.
There was some treasure he couldn’t hide, and he wore it openly as he walked to the dueling mound with it.
Redfist arrived and was immediately taken aback by the two treasures he saw.
On his right hand, Tim wore a bangle, and on his left hand, he wore a ring that clearly belonged to Jasmine.
Redfist frowned a bit. He remembered Sam’s bangle and knew it was being worn by someone else. He did not remember where the ring came from, but he was nearly certain that the bangle was not bonded to him.
‘What the hell is this kid doing?’ Redfist wondered. ‘Is he going to use Sam’s treasure?’
There was a possibility that was the case, but the greater possibility here was the fact that the kid was using the treasure to try and make him think he was going to use them.
He was a little confused with the overall situation, but he let it be. He had to focus on the fight.
If this were a regular battle, he had no doubt he would win. But given that it was anything but that, he had to be ready for unknown shenanigans brought to him by the use of some unknown treasure.
He had heard about the battle earlier today where the girl had won against Tiffany by simply creating images of people in thin air and making Tiffany fight the fake people.
Anything could be happening if that had already happened before.
“Are you ready?” Redfist asked Tim as they both stood on each side of the mound.
Tim nodded. “Ready.”
“Good,” Redfist said and walked toward the middle of the mound, the golden glove perfectly fit in his hand. “Let’s fight.”
