Chapter 1491: Some Pirates
The deck was a mess after Tim did what he did. Everyone looked at him, wondering how he could have done that. Many guessed it to be treasure’s doing, but they hadn’t him pulling out any treasure, which had surprised them quite a bit.
They were also surprised at how casual they were about the whole thing, as though what they had just done was something anybody could do
“How… how did you do that?” Arya asked, very clearly surprised and confused as well.
Tim sat back down. “Oh, this necklace of mine. I can use it to control the elements,” he said.
“Wow!” Arya reached for the necklace and played it around her fingers before letting it go. “That’s… quite the amazing necklace. You never told me it did that.”
“Never came up during our conversation,” Tim said. “You did know I have a few different treasures, don’t you?”
“I do, but still… knowing you have a treasure and finding out what they are is a completely different matter,” Arya said. “What do the rest of them do?”
“I’m sorry, I can’t say. If I ever do use it, you’ll find out,” Tim said.
“No, I’m sorry for asking. I shouldn’t be asking about your treasures anyway,” Arya said. “Still, seeing you have so many makes me curious about which ones you exactly have. That… and how you got them.”
“This journey of yours with Ning feels like a fun journey,” Arya said. “I wonder if I should join you on one of these journeys.”
“Absolutely,” Tim said. “That’s a fantastic idea. You’re not doing anything here anyway since your father does all the work.”
Arya grimaced a little when she heard that. “Actually… the truth is…”
“NING!” Jasmine burst out of the door, looking all around. “NING!”
Tim and Arya stood up, wondering what had happened. Was there an emergency here that they had to know about?
“Pirates!” Jasmine shouted. “Goddamn pirates!”
Ning walked away from the bow, somewhat confused as to why Jasmine was shouting before he realized what was happening.
This was the funniest thing he had witnessed all week.
“Hahahah!” He began laughing out loud, much to the confusion of everyone else. His laughter only got Jasmine to become more and more angry.
“You… You died, didn’t you?” Ning asked her.
“Yeah, and you just watched and did nothing,” Jasmine scolded him with her arms on her hips. “How could you do that?”
Ning shrugged. “Hey! You had to find out somehow if your pen worked or not,” he said. “Now you do. Congrats.”
The people around the deck were already scrambling to look for pirates around the open sea. They were ready with their weapons, but they saw nothing.
“What would you have done if I had died?” Jasmine asked.
“You wouldn’t have died if the pen wasn’t with you.” Ning shrugged. “Trust me. I have made all the preparations in such circumstances.”
“You better have,” Jasmine said.
“Young lady!” Colonel Jane came running up to her. “You said there were pirates? Where?”
“You won’t find them right now. They’ll show up a few hours later. Just be on the lookout for them.”
Colonel Jane frowned. On one hand, the claim was preposterous. On the other hand, the girl did have 4 treasures, so her words carried a lot of weight.
“Believe her,” Ning said. “And be on the lookout.”
Jane nodded and went to make preparations.
Jasmine didn’t want to go back to her room anymore, so she stayed out in the open, feeling the air in her face from the open sea.
About 3 hours later, two ships showed up from either side, demanding that they be allowed to be boarded, guns already out, canons ready to shoot.
The ship they were on had way more firepower.
Within seconds of the ship’s arrival, everyone realized that they were the pirates they had been told would come, and so the ship’s crew began firing canons at once.
The two ships were destroyed immediately, sinking into the sea floor within seconds. They didn’t even have a chance to fight back at all.
Everyone who had nothing to do at the moment simply watched the whole ordeal from start to finish, shock filling them to their core.
Arya was way too stunned as this was the first time she had seen people die so violently. She always knew such things abound, but seeing it made her want to throw up.
“Thank you, young lady!” Colonel Jane walked up to Jasmine. “If not for you, we would have been caught off guard. Our battle wouldn’t have gone this cleanly”
“How come they got so close?” Jasmine asked her. “I thought you were watching the entire thing closely. You have VIPs on board.”
“We were, but these waters are supposed to be safe. It is constantly policed by the Marines. I’m not sure how these lowlives got in so easily,” the Colonel said.
“There is an important event tomorrow. So everyone coming through these waters is important. Pirates are bound to try and catch a good prey this time around. A single ship they manage to loot or take hostage would mean a lifetime of fortune for them. You will all have to be more careful.”
“Yes,” the Colonel said, returning to increase the security at all times.
2 hours later, they saw land, finally arriving at the Midland, the largest of the 3 major lands of the Morgian Empire.
The ship traveled along the shore, making its way toward the river Ossin that would be coming up anytime soon. The number of ships around them began increasing as well, slowly becoming more and more frequent as they came upon the mouth of the river that led into the depth of the land.
It was late afternoon when the ship finally entered the river and began making its way up the river. Just a day longer they would arrive at Morgia, capital of the Morgian Empire, where the party was going to take place.
