Reincarnated as an Energy with a System – Chapter 1519

DODS

Chapter 1519: DODS

Ning went to the Spark shop next, deciding that he needed to buy some sparks. With the amount of Jiubels he had, he could buy quite a lot of Spark, but he decided that he needed no more than 20 grams for now.

However, when he did try to buy it, he was told that a person was only allowed to buy 10 grams of Spark a week at his current status. It was some sort of new rule they had made with the migration incoming within the month.

Reluctantly, Ning bought 5 grams of Spark, with more only being possible to buy a week later.

He had been planning on using a lot of Spark to test out his powers more, but with what he had now, he could only do some sparse experiments.

Ning went over to the library next, with no more than 2 hours left for him to read anything he wanted. After thinking for a bit, Ning read up on migrations and this world’s technology.

Migration was a simple event where when the people were going to enter the dark side of the gas giant, they would travel to another satellite where they already had a base.

Ning wondered what the reason was for this event, and it turned out that every satellite around Krimanax took on average 2 years to go around it. During that time, if they had gathered enough resources to last a year in darkness, they could stay in the hole.

However, more often than not, that was not possible, and instead, they had to migrate to another moon.

The main reason Ning came to learn about migration was the fact that during the darkness, the surface of the planet got so cold that it became impossible to harvest Spark in any qualitative manner.

Trying to do so would only result in failure, so it was better to move to another world where Sparks were more freely available with the sun shining on it brightly.

Once again, it was never stated how long these people had been migrating. It simply stated that they had been doing this for a while now.

Ning read up on the technologies next, but there wasn’t much about it.

The system itself was called DODS, the Definitive Ocular Display System, and the crystal sphere that was used to hold data was called a Data Core. There was some information about how it held inside of it a tech that could etch directly into the core, and alter it in some way.

It also explained how it tracked the user’s eyes and directly projected the image into their two eyes, producing the holographic display effect.

What Ning really wanted to know, how the technology was made, or where it was made, was never answered. As far as he could tell, the books acted as though the technology had always existed.

There were some speculations that the technology was from a time far in the past when some sort of event had wiped out all information. Aside from that, not much was known.

Ning had a speculation on where the people came from. There had to be some sort of world where life could thrive, perhaps on one of the many moons of the gas giant.

However, after some catastrophic event, they were forced to find a way out of the place, forced to move to the moon. They couldn’t take with them many things, which caused their history to be so sparse.

Ning left the library when night fell once again, and he was forced to leave. He went over to the cafeteria to eat his dinner, where he found a few of the people from earlier today and socialized with them for a bit before returning to his room.

Upon return, Ning began testing out the extent of his new powers, and see just what sort of matter he could turn an object into.

He tried various metals he was familiar with, and their alloys. Perhaps because he had worked with metal a lot, he could easily turn anything into metal.

Air was similarly easy as well, but changing something into individual gas was quite difficult. He simply wasn’t experienced with air that intricately.

He had to test out a bit, but the only thing he could mainly make was oxygen and nitrogen. And that too was after a lot of trial and error.

Ning wanted to try out and see if he could make wood, but that would have to wait. He had no intention of using up his 5-gram supply of Spark overnight.

Ning went to sleep.

Ning woke up some time later, once again to the large sound made by the metal plate that he had come to learn was being called DODS.

A new day started.

The training officer came early and began with their exercises. Afterward, Ning and his fellow Cadets went to the Cafeteria to eat.

“Oh right, I am a little confused about something. I just found out what my power is. What do you do to go about getting it registered into my core?”

A wave of congratulations filled the table before one of them explained.

“You’ll have to go over to the administrator’s office and tell them that you have gained your power. They should put you in a training class for some time so you can master your power.”

“I see,” Ning said.

“What power did you get?” one of them asked.

“I’m a Converter.”

“Ooh!”

“Converter is good.”

“Very versatile.”

“You’ll have to learn a lot to make good use of it.”

They gave various advice, and from what Ning could see, none of the Cadets there were converters at all.

In fact, none of them had any powers at all. Ning could only wonder why.

After completing his meals, Ning went over to his room to use DODS to see what his job was for the day. Once again, it was elevator duty, and there wasn’t much time.

“Registering will have to wait then,” Ning thought and made his way to his work.
