Reincarnated as an Energy with a System – Chapter 1554

Underground Pocket

Chapter 1554: Underground Pocket

Ning’s proposal had to be thought through, so the group of 5 moved to a corner where they began talking among themselves.

This was supposed to be a simple delivery, but now it had turned into something that could truly disrupt their entire chain of Dust supply.

The woman had to make an extremely important decision and she had to make it quick.

Ning sat by the side, waiting for their decision to come to a conclusion. After a while, the five finally turned around and the girl at the front spoke up.

“Okay, we will accept your offer. Are you free to go with us right now?” she asked.

“Absolutely,” Ning said. He stood up and dusted himself off, ready to move.

The five walked into the hole in the wall and beckoned Ning to get on as well.

“I’ll see you guys soon,” Ning told Jay, Cenn, and the rest and walked in with them. As soon as he walked in, two of the men immediately began moving their hands and the hole began covering up.

Two crystals appeared from two of the other people who were at the front, showing the pathway inside of the tunnel.

The tunnel in total was about 2 meters in diameter and 3 meters across. That was just enough space for the people to be in.

Ning watched as the two carvers at the front pulled the earth from the front and deposited it behind them, making the tiny pocket of air inside the tunnel continue moving.

Ning walked along, surprised at how efficient everyone was. He was more than sure that they did this a lot.

“What are your names, by the way?” Ning asked. “My name is Ning.”

“Karina,” the woman answered. “You don’t need to know the others’ names for now.”

“Okay,” Ning said and continued walking. “So, Miss Karina. May I ask where exactly we are going?”

“A place,” the woman said. “You need to meet someone important who will decide whether to let you join us or not.”

“Huh? I thought it was already decided,” he said.

The woman turned around, her eye narrowing as she did. “I do not have that sort of authority. Our leader will have to make the decision on whether to employ you or not.”

“I don’t see why there needs to be a decision,” Ning said, carelessly running his mouth. “After all, are you going to let go of a competition that you could have otherwise made to join you?”

He shook his head and laughed a little at the absurdity of that possibility. There was no reason for anyone to refuse him.

Still, Ning was ready for the possibility. He was only outwardly showing the ridiculous display to show them his fake confidence.

“Tell me, when did you learn to turn things into Dust?” Karina asked.

“One night when I was high on Dust,” Ning said. He retold the same story he had told Jay and Cenn. He made sure to recall every word the same so that if they later confirmed with Jay or Cenn, he wouldn’t be caught.

“And you just learned?” she asked.

“What can I say? I must be talented,” Ning said.

“What else can you turn things into?” Karina asked.

“A few things,” Ning said. “Rock, glass, air, water, that sort.”

Karina kept on asking questions and Ning continued answering. When Ning questioned her, however, she rarely answered anything.

Ning was frustrated by the lack of an answer, but he made sure not to show it. Also, he began wondering just where the hell they were going. From what he could tell, they had walked in a straight line, and should thus have gone beyond one of the cities.

And yet they were still moving.

‘Are they smuggling through the cities like this? Walking through the underground with no idea where what is? How are they staying on track?’ Ning had a lot of questions.

He feared one of the answers was that they had a Thinker with them. If the Thinker decided to check his legitimacy with more than a little Spark, it would be obvious.

‘No, they can’t do that. They can’t learn about other people just by doing that,’ Ning thought. He had been taught that.

Aside from Cultivators, who could help regrow a person’s body, no one else could do anything to a person that the person did not want to without using a lot of Spark.

Even Connectors needed permission to glimpse more than a single instance of thought, and that was breaching privacy.

Whatever the reason was, a human body just required a lot of Spark to have the powers be used on them. A regular Thinker would have to consume so much Spark to gain one bit of insight about a human that it would break them completely.

Ning wondered why that was. Had the energy itself created some sort of contingency? Many special Energies did do that.

‘I wonder if since Spark comes from Krimanax, it needs to be something Krimanax knows about for them to know too?’ Ning thought. Since they lived underground, there was not much for Spark to tell them.

Could that be the case?

Whatever the case was, Ning was satisfied in knowing that these people wouldn’t just know what he was doing.

Ning could feel his eardrums slowly being pushed. It didn’t affect him much, but the other people were a little uncomfortable. There was a Breather among their group of 6 who was secretly adding air to the pocket.

Otherwise, they would’ve long ago begun feeling the effect of a high carbon dioxide concentration in the air.

“We’re nearly there,” Karina finally said and the other gave a simple hum of confirmation.

Ning looked forward to knowing where he had come from. If his guess was correct though, he had to either be in City 7 or City 8. That had most definitely walked through the entire Military city with no doubt.

The pocket of air finally opened on the other side and the pressure dropped. Everyone sighed in relief.

They had arrived at their destination.
