Reincarnated as an Energy with a System – Chapter 1566

Nirun

Chapter 1566: Nirun

Ning followed the Carver through the night, but he only just returned to his home and didn’t go anywhere. It appeared he would go talk to his Captain a while later.

The man didn’t sleep. He wanted to sleep, but if he did, he would either have to wake up in the middle and break his sleep or miss out on talking to his captain.

It was already just an hour or two away from morning, so he decided to stall it out. He went to take a bath, and ate some food, simply waiting.

Finally, when the lights came on in the ceiling, the man left his room, slowly making his way toward the Captain’s room. Ning went along with the man and arrived in front of a large room, which the man entered.

There was no one there right away, so all he could do was wait.

A while later, someone arrived in the room and the man stood up, saluting the man. “Captain!”

The man paused and looked around, making sure there was no one there.

“What are you here for?” the Captain asked.

Ning looked at the captain, taking his image into mind. There was nothing there to name him just yet, but at least he knew what he looked like and where his office was.

That should be enough.

“He requests Yoman’s help tonight and the following nights,” the man said.

“No,” the Captain said simply. “He can’t have anyone else. Go help him tonight. If he wants Yoman, tell him the price will be higher.”

The Carver seemed like he wanted to say something, but he held his tongue. “Yes, Captain.”

“Go and take some rest. You look horrible.”

The man said nothing and returned back to his place.

Ning left him alone this time, going to meet Redaime. She was already in her room and wasn’t surprised when Ning asked to enter.

“Come on in, and close the door,” she said.

Ning did as told and brought out a jar full of the liquid that he had scooped out of the ground before it was burned.

“They poured water into yesterday’s mixture, stirred it for an hour or so, and then created this thing,” Ning showed Redaime the solution. “After filtering this for rough chunks, the leader then boiled the water away, leaving behind pure Dust.”

Redaime raised her eyebrow looking at the mixture in front of her. “This is it?”

“Yes,” Ning said. “They are done making Dust and the first handoff will happen tonight.”

“Tonight? That’s sooner than I thought,” she said. “They plan to take it to all the other cities one day at a time, and tomorrow they start with City 8.”

“Good work finding that out,” Redaime said. “We will catch them redhanded, as you said.”

Ning nodded. “I also found another military officer involved in this.”

Redaime’s face jerked up, a look of suspicion in her eyes. “Another General?”

“No, this time a Captain.” Ning described the man and where he stayed to Redaime, getting back a quick answer from her.

“Dalaan!”

Redaime scoffed after saying his name. “So he is involved in this too. I knew he had great desires and greed to become someone big, but I didn’t think he would take this route.”

She turned back to Ning. “Do you have the evidence?”

“The Dust maker’s main Carver is a Cadet under this Captain. Goes by the name of Nirun, I think.”

“Nirun?” Redaime seemed confused for a second. “I’ve heard that name somewhere before. Nirun… Nirun…”

She looked around, trying to remember when suddenly her face changed.

“Nirun!” she appeared surprised to remember the name, which surprised Ning in turn. He couldn’t see what could possibly make a Captain surprised to hear about a Cadet’s name.

“He is supposed to be Sparkless. How is he still Carving?” Redaime asked.

“What?” he asked. “He was Sparkless?”

“Yes,” Redaime said. “This was… 2 years ago? There was a big deal about a Carver with great Potential becoming Sparkless by overworking himself. His case was made an example for others to not overwork themselves. How could he possibly have healed himself?”

Ning got curious now. Did this mean there was a way to heal someone who was Sparkless? Who had done it? How had they done it?

“This is big,” Redaime said. “Go make sure it was the same Nirun. Make sure there are no other Niruns you’re confusing him with. I’ll begin making preparations for the arrests of all of the criminals.”

“Aye aye, Captain!”

“What?” Redaime looked at him with a confused look.

Ning laughed to himself. “Nothing. Just wanted to say that. I’ll go do what you said.” He left the room before Redaime could ask him anything else.

As soon as he left the Captain’s room, he began wondering how Nirun could have possibly reverted from Sparkless to someone who could use Spark once more.

Maybe there was a way, or maybe as Redaime said, this was a different Nirun.

There was one way to find out.

Once he was out of sight of anyone, Ning teleported into Nirun’s house, who was beginning to prepare to sleep. He had changed into some comfortable clothes and was about to get into bed when he turned around to some noise.

Ning sat at the table with one leg up on another, leaning on his hand with his elbow on the table.

“Nirun, right?” he asked.

“Who are you?” Nirun asked, confused and scared. He reached for the vial of Spark at the corner of the room, grabbing it immediately. He took out a bit of it and sniffed it immediately.

Ning watched him take in all of the Spark and waited for him to turn around.

“Do you not remember me?” Ning asked. “I thought I left an impression on your lot. I would’ve expected a surprised ‘it’s you!’ at least.”

Nirun frowned, but slowly his eyes changed as he finally remembered who Ning was. It had been a week since he had last seen him, so he didn’t remember immediately.

“It’s you!” he shouted out loud.

Ning smiled. “There it is.”
