Chapter 1601: Mexol
The movie on the screen… was decent at best and horribly boring at worst. Even for someone like Ning who did not need to sleep, he found himself yawning multiple times as he watched the movie.
When it was over, he was finally glad that he could move on with his life.
Once he was done watching the movie, he searched for more Data Cores from around the place, but only found ones that worked with the DODS machines.
He gave up on the television in front of him and reverted the entire thing back to how he had found it, just as a broken relic.
Now that Ning had done that, it was time to learn a bit more about the planet and see if those who lived on the moons came from there.
Using the Interface was annoying even now, but Ning managed to find the information that he wanted.
The planet he wanted to know about was called Mexol, and the people from it were called Mexolites. It was a planet like any other in the universe, with a bustling population of humans and animals and all sorts of plants.
Around 60% of the surface was covered in water, and the rest was land with humans living all throughout it.
Humans lived on that planet for thousands and thousands of years and their society had been well past the days of the industrial revolution.
Everything was fine even after that, but things changed when they found a use for a certain material that they called ‘Life Quartz’. It was a special piece of naturally occurring crystal, which could take in the power of the sun and glow in the night.
For thousands and thousands of years, People had made use of it to light their houses, but when the scientists realized that it could be used as more than just a light source, things changed drastically.
The ‘Life Quartz’ was then harvested from all locations around the planet’s equatorial line and used to power their everyday machinery.
The planet evolved rapidly as more and more inventions were made to make use of the Life Quartz’s ability to store and use energy.
Everything was alright at first and nobody saw any problems with using the quartz. However, that was only because the changes that happened were very gradual.
What the humans failed to realize throughout their time was that their sun was larger than most suns which could create a suitable habitat for life to grow in.
To these humans, it was never a thought that the sun was too large for the planet to be cool enough to sustain life.
The humans never realized that the only reason they weren’t burned to death was thanks to the Life Quartz that they had around the equator.
Every day, the sun would shine upon their planet, and the Life Quartz would absorb it all so that the sun could never heat up the planet enough to make life impossible.
Then, at night, it would release all of that light back into the space, lowering heat significantly.
This had gone on for millions of years and was the main reason why life had even existed. And yet the greedy humans didn’t realize that until it was very late for them.
The climates had begun changing from the added heat and everything the humans did to remedy it caused things to go on an imbalance. Disasters occurred left and right, and no one could do anything to fight it.
They understood finally that their planet was dying and it was all their fault.
Soon, humanity sought to find a way to revert all of the changes that had happened, but there was nothing they could do. All they could do was stop using Life Quartz, take every piece of it, and lay it out to soak the sun until the planet returned to normal.
That was a very grand idea and one that would work with time too. But by the time it worked, the humans would all have died.
So, after much consideration, it was decided that these people would leave the planet and go find someplace else to make a home.
After much thought, they decided that it would be one of the moons of the planet Krimanax.
Krimanax could be seen in the night sky with the naked eye, so it was a good place for them to want to go to. They were dying in Mexol anyway, so their one chance at survival being in the stars was the only hope they had.
And they took up on that.
Within a few years, they gathered enough people to send for the stars, to find a place to live in. It was a last-ditch effort in an attempt to find a place to stay as their own was no longer safe at all.
Most of humanity was going to die, but as a species, they wanted humans to continue living. And so, they flew toward the night sky and made their way to Krimanax.
These people were very much lucky to have found Spark here, which they learned to use, and used to survive. If not for the Spark, these people would have died a long time ago.
Humanity in this solar system would have long since been extinct.
“They didn’t know they could live,” Ning thought, surprised that everything they had done was on a hail mary. It was incredible how lucky they had been.
“I wonder if the planet returned to normal or if everything there is dead,” Ning thought. He could search for the information on Interface, but he had a better idea.
Ning teleported to the surface of Wream and quickly looked in the direction of the sun, where Mexol would be. Once he made a relative guess, he flew in that direction.
Finding Mexol without the help of the System took some time, but knowing that it was the 4th planet made it easy enough that he found it in under 2 hours.
Once Ning found the planet, the dark side of which glowed brilliantly even in the night, he flew down toward it.
