Reincarnated as an Energy with a System – Chapter 1653

Breakfast

Chapter 1653: Breakfast

Ning slept through the early morning chickens, and the rustling around the room as Shara woke up. But once multiple people came into the house one by one, he couldn’t keep sleeping.

He got up and left to check what was happening.

He yawned as he arrived at the living room and saw a middle-aged man in a small conversation with the old woman. He had a dad body that said he didn’t work out at all but still had the strength to snap you in half.

Along with that, he also had a small Spirit following around him. It was an older man, likely his father.

Ning stared at the man for a bit, who had returned to his conversation with the old woman.

“I’ll send the two when they get back from school. Rema and the others should come long before that too.”

“You won’t be joining then?” she asked. “I was hoping you got your day off from work.”

“No, the mill can’t stop,” the man said and looked outside. “I should be heading out soon then. I’ll tell the others to head over as soon as I can.”

“Okay.”

The man walked away.

The old woman turned to Ning and smiled. “You finally woke up? Go and wash your face. The girl is making some breakfast. Should be ready in a bit.”

Ning nodded. “Who was that man?” he asked.

“A neighbor,” the old woman said.

“I heard more voices earlier. Did a lot of people come by?” he asked.

“Oh yeah, we are gathering to sow some seeds in the farm later on. There is a large area to be sown so we will need many people,” she said.

“Oh!” Ning said with surprise. “And they’re all coming to help you?”

“Not just help me. Help themselves,” the old woman answered. “We’ll be going to everyone’s place and sow what we can.”

“Do you need help?” he asked.

The woman chuckled a bit. “It might sound easy, but if you’ve never done it before, you’ll feel your back-breaking,” she said. “You can help if you want. We’ll show you how it’s done.”

Ning smiled. “I’ll go get freshened up then,” he said and was about to turn when he paused. “That man from earlier, he has a Spirit around him. Does he know?”

“Hmm?” the old woman asked and her eyes slightly widened. She clapped suddenly, realizing something. “That’s right! You’re a Spirit Detective. I forgot what you guys can do. There are a few people with spirits in this town. Do you think you could help them? You can’t ask for much money though. Most of these people don’t go to the city because they don’t have the money to pay regular Spirit detectives.”

Ning shrugged. “I don’t need money. I’m happy to help,” he said.

The woman seemed genuinely surprised at his claim. “Are you sure?” she asked. “You can at least take something.”

“I genuinely don’t need anything,” Ning answered.

The old woman couldn’t help but smile. “I’ll tell them to get you something nice then,” she said. “Now go.”

A while later, Ning sat around the dinner table, eating freshly made flatbread with some vegetable gravy that Shara had made. Despite her age, she had helped around the kitchen in the tavern, so she knew how to cook a lot of things.

With the old woman’s help, she could make it tasty as well.

“Oh how I wish I could see your future,” the old woman lamented as she slowly ate a bowl of slop she had made on the side. Ning had asked why she didn’t eat the flatbread, and the woman had simply shown him her teeth.

Over half of them had already fallen. She truly was old.

People started streaming into the house and greeting the old woman, asking her how the seeds were.

It turned out that the old woman had visited Ternia because she needed to buy some seeds in bulk, which couldn’t be bought in their city. The sowing season had come around, so she decided to go get the seed.

The seeds were for rice apparently, but one that smelled really nice. It was hard to come by and was cheaper in Ternia.

The old woman left with the people to the back, most of whom were housewives from the look of it. Ning finished his food and left to help them as well.

The women in the group started making small talk, asking where Ning was from. A few even hinted at the fact that he may be eloping with his wife, but Ning quickly shut down the rumors.

Nearly 50 different people gathered at the scene and a few had Spirits on them. Ning could see it all so very clearly.

“Farah! Come here,” the old woman called out.

“Yes, grandma?” a young woman with a 2-year-old child in her arms walked up to the old woman.

“Ning here is a Spirit Detective. Your mother’s Spirit, he will tell you what you should do,” the old woman said.

The words suddenly caught everyone’s attention. They turned to look at Ning with new light, now realizing that he was more than just a young kid who probably ran away from his house.

“You can see Spirits?” the woman named Farah asked.

“I can,” Ning said. “I can see her right now. Is she your mother?”

The woman nodded. “How much you ask?”

“Nothing,” Ning said.

“She’ll pay you what she can afford. I told you not to do it for free,” the old woman said.

“I don’t really need the money, really,” Ning said. “I’m happy to help.”

“I’ll pay,” Farah said. “Is a silver coin… enough?”

“More than enough,” Ning said. “I don’t mind even just getting the half of it. I honestly don’t mind not getting anything, but since Grandma insists, I’ll take what you can offer.”

“Really? I’ll go get it for you then,” Farah said, ready to leave.

“Stop! You can get it for him later. Let him help you for now,” the old woman said and gestured for Ning to start.

Ning took a deep breath and spoke to the Spirit.
