Reincarnated as an Energy with a System – Chapter 1654

Happy to Help

Chapter 1654: Happy to Help

The Spirit around Farah was her mother who had died of a sickness over 6 years ago. Farah’s mother was a doting mother, perhaps one that was far too doting for her own good. Because the connection between the mother and daughter was so good, Farah had taken care of her mother until the end of her life, with no success in saving her.

There may have been ways to save her, had they only been richer, but living in the village, that was not something they had.

Farah’s father had apparently died very early on in her life, so when her mother died, she was left all alone.

Grandma Usha had noticed the Spirit very early on and had told her about it, even about the fact that it had been her mother. But without a Spirit Channeler or Spirit Detective, they could not be sure why the spirit was there.

Ning spoke with the Spirit, to ask why it lingered, and he finally got the answer.

She simply wished to see a tree that grew at the back of another one of the houses that they used to live in a long time ago. When asked why she wanted to visit the tree, it turned out that it had been the tree where her first son, an infant who had died of the same disease, had been buried there.

Before she moved on, she wanted to see her son one last time.

Farah gasped in shock, holding her child tightly. She couldn’t help but start to sob when she heard about it. She had never known that her mother had another child before her, one that had died long before she was born.

The way her mother had treated her her whole life always stuck out with her, especially given how other mothers treated their children, and now it made sense, finally.

Many of the women in the circle knew about the tragedy apparently. It was just an open secret that they had never bothered speaking about ever again.

Now that Ning revealed this information, they began recalling the horrible day when they found out about the infant’s passing away. They too began tearing up, one by one.

“Farah, child, you should leave for today. Go see to your mother,” the old woman said and the others reflected her intent. They were all happy to have Farah take a day off and go deal with her issues and feelings.

Farah nodded and took her child as she left the house.

Ning sighed at the sound. It always came at the expense of something rather sad. He was beginning to fear that was all it did, but he had instances where it came on for other scenarios as well.

Ning looked at the other women and men in the group and saw two more with Spirits. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to help them or not. At least, not right now.

Still, the old woman called out their names and they came. It appeared they had been hopefully waiting for their turn. Ning couldn’t believe he was thinking of not helping these folks.

The man who came first had an older man as a Spirit following him. It was apparently his elderly father who had passed a few years ago.

“He wants you to name one of your children after his own father. He wants his father’s name to not be forgotten,” Ning told the man.

“What… what was his father’s name?” the man asked. “My grandfather died when I was a child. I don’t have many memories of him.”

“Gotorag,” Ning said. The old man wasn’t sane enough to tell him the name, but thankfully, the system knew and the name came on his quest.

“Gotorag… Gotorag…” the man said softly. “I have a child on the way. If it’s a boy, I’ll make sure to name it.”

Ning got a point for passing along the message. There wasn’t much for him to do in this scenario.

Next up was a woman with long braided hair that had touches of white here and there. The early onset of wrinkles was visible on her skin as well.

The Spirit surrounding her was her mother, who had apparently died a while ago. The reason she stayed around was because she regretted the actions she had when she was still alive.

The mother had done things when she was alive that had caused her to burn bridges with her own children, causing many of them to drift apart. That was not what she wanted in the end.

She wanted them to be together, but what she had done couldn’t be undone. After death, the only thing she truly wanted to see was for all of her children to sit together at a dinner table and watch them laugh as they ate.

That was the woman’s only wish.

Ning got another point for telling the information. The woman who heard the information sighed.

“I thought it would be something like this,” she said. “I’ll try to mend the relationship to the best I can, but it’s been so many years, and we’re all so…”

She couldn’t finish her sentence. She simply shook her head, not a single tear forming on her face. “Thank you for telling me this. I’ll make sure to pay what you’re worth by the end of the day.”

“You don’t have to if you can’t,” Ning said. “Please pay me only if you can afford to, not because you need to.”

The woman smiled. “I’ll pay you because that’s what you deserve. Thank you, young man.”

Ning couldn’t help but smile as well.

“Alright, that’s enough resting for now. There’s no one else with a Spirit, and the ones who have it can be told later,” the old woman said.

“For now, we need to work.”

Everyone got up at once, moving to the fields behind the house. This was where they would be working for the rest of the day.
