Chapter 32: Schedule
Waking up later than usual, all because of Nith, Kyouka opened her eyes to a pesky slice of sunshine poking at her eyelids.
She didn’t find her beloved at her side. Now that their relationship had progressed at a steady pace, with more highs than lows, Kyouka and Nith shared the bedroom. Not much progress happened in their night life due to Nith not being able to use his arms.
Moreover, their recent development of concocting the healing potion with a poison within, whose sole purpose was to clean the mess, took up the majority of their time.
Kyouka would hole herself up in her basement and burn the midnight oil, with Nith overseeing her progress and teaching her about poisons.
There was no time for anything intimate because of their packed schedule.
That said, Kyouka found the courage to steal Nith’s lips and shove her tongue into his mouth, discovering the pleasure of kissing him. She’d assault Nith so often that he didn’t have to go against his character to kiss her.
She’d always sneak up to him in the morning.
“Where is that hunched bastard? A morning kiss gets me going to work hard!” Kyouka said, the command drawing her out of bed and straight to the kitchen.
Alas, Nith wasn’t there, nor in the bathroom or the basement. She didn’t find him on the store’s floor, either.
Behind their store and house was a small garden.
If Nith wasn’t here, Kyouka would wait for him to return and strangle him for breaking her kissing streak! It had been twenty-three days!
“Ah,” Kyouka gasped as she found Nith basking in the sun, shadowboxing. He wielded a blue spear with a golden blade, thrusting at imaginary enemies.
He used his imagination to create styles, switching from double-handed wielding to a single hand, thrusting, cutting, and slashing.
Wearing only short pants, he stomped on the grass with bare feet. Covered in sweat and sunshine, Nith’s face and chest sparkled. This bastard didn’t neglect his muscles and exercised enough to develop lean muscles that drew a hot breath from his woman.
Kyouka returned to the kitchen with sparkling eyes. After making coffee, she brought a chair outside and watched the show while sipping on the hot liquid.
She didn’t worry about the store, as their newly hired part-time student should have already opened it.
Nith noticed Kyouka.
He approached her and asked, “How was it?”
“Love to see you in action,” Kyouka replied, hiding the fact that she had no clue about spearmanship or anything else for that matter.
“I see, you’re at sea. Where’s my chair?” He clicked his tongue and went to the kitchen to fetch one for himself.
He placed it beside Kyouka and sat down.
Waving her hand before her nose, Kyouka commented, “You stink.”
“Get used to it,” Nith casually replied. He extended his hand. “Come out.”
A blue spear with a golden blade manifested in front of him from dark wisps. Catching its shaft, Nith held it tightly before calling it back home, turning the spear into particles that sank into his chest.
He said, “I can materialize this spear and upgrade it with other spears. It’s like synthesis, I guess? Or maybe just a typical MMO combination of spears to make a single, stronger weapon.”
“I see, I see,” Kyouka replied. ‘The heck is MMO?’
What Nith had practiced early in the morning was crap. He knew he used his body in the wrong way, as he couldn’t find the connection with the spear.
Perhaps, if he were to train enough, he’d receive a title for spearmanship and develop a natural connection to it. Of course, there was no need for a title to establish that connection, so Nith knew he was at fault.
He knew how to throw a punch.
But he didn’t know how to thrust a spear.
It wasn’t as simple as it looked.
“Nith!” Kyouka called her beloved.
Knowing what was coming from her excited voice alone, he turned toward her and leaned in.
Her lips pressed against his, and her tongue instinctively intertwined with his. She sucked on him, her morning coffee invading his mouth. Amidst the flowery fragrance wafting over him and her sweet, coffee-tainted breath caressing his face, Nith absolutely didn’t care about anything else but to keep going for those plump lips.
Now that he could use his arms, he caught her head and pulled her in close, taking over the morning kiss that had been Kyouka’s domain until today.
Her eyes rolled up before she closed them, surrendering to Nith’s passion and strength.
Five minutes later, he let her comfortably sink into the chair, while he supported his head on his arm and looked away. He’d never admit that he took the initiative.
Stretching her crossed feet and caressing one ankle with the other, Kyouka angled her head back and stared at the clear skies, a warm cup of coffee cradled in her hands.
“Ah… it feels so nice. I could live this way until death do us part.”
“Bitch, we’re not married yet.”
“We will be… soon enough, you hunched bastard.”
“Yeah, someone’s drunk,” Nith shook his head.
A few minutes later, Kyouka stretched herself up. “Haha! Twenty-four streak saved! What’s your plan for today? You can use your arms, so it’s about time you hit the ground running!”
Nith smirked. “Yeah… the plan was to either become proficient in potion craft, gain a title for it, or become stronger through other titles. I need to up my strength, resilience, speed, and defenses, so I’d need a title like Spear Master or something similar. I feel like exercising a lot, so I want to go to Valora’s Guild—”
“Princess Valora!”
“—Princess Valora’s Guild and see their benefits,” Nith didn’t want to leave the capital before becoming The Second Grade. With The Spear of Starvation in his arsenal and his experience in potion making, he’d be able to catch up to Kyouka in no time.
Kyouka gazed heavily at Nith. “You know… I don’t want to let you go alone!”
“Huh? You ain’t my mom,” Nith replied.
“Shut up! Princess Valora is clever and expects to get to me through you, so I’d go with you to her guild at some point anyway! I’ll see their benefits myself, too! The schedule is simple. From morning to afternoon, we concoct potions and poisons together. Then, we go to her guild!”
“Are you jealous?” Nith deadpanned.
“I am!”
“Don’t sound so proud of that. And why are you even jealous? Only an idiot would fall in love with me. I don’t walk straight, I look grim, and people think I want to kill them just by looking at my face…”
His stare became somewhat pitiful. Yeah, there was someone across from him who loved him to a fault.
Kyouka’s face became murderous. “You have a problem with me or my schedule?”
‘Fuck… I went overboard this time… what do I do?’ Nith thought. “How about we go to the town hall on our way to the guild and sign the marriage papers? Let’s get that tax discount.”
Kyouka’s face did a one-eighty, her eyes sparkling. “Nith!”
“Wait, I need a ring,” Nith mused aloud.
“Ah, me too!” Kyouka added.
Could these two spend money on rings right now?
…
And thus, the marriage was postponed for later.
