Eru sighed when he felt the ground tremble from two separate directions, “What now—” he mumbled. Eru struggled to get up from his chair. He opened the door slowly, closing his eyes and extended his aura. Suddenly, Eru’s eyes shot wide open, “Two large forces are coming here”, he said sombrely. He quickly went inside the house, grabbed all of his belongings and immediately tried to leave the area.
However, Eru did not manage to get far due to the injuries that he had suffered previously. ‘Rather than be a sitting duck over here, might as well hid in a nearby forest,’ Eru thought as he edged closer to the forest south from the ruined village. Eru did not want to get far deep into the forest, however, as it would endanger him further. Eru settled down at the edge of the forest, observing the ruined village curiously. “I wonder whose force those are. I reckoned one belonged to the Dark Heavens, seeing that I killed their entire team. But the other one— Maybe from the adventurers guild?” Eru pondered. “It can’t be. Tailwind City Adventurers Guild is big, but they’re not a force that could shake the land. Don’t tell me— The army?” Eru squinted his eyes.
Not long after, Eru saw two massive forces meet each other. Eru focused his eyes, and after enhancing his eyes with aura, Eru could see from afar. Eru squinted his eyes, “The forces Dark Heavens sent was quite big for a search party. Maybe they have something that can tell when one of their members died. And for the other party— Is that Ling and Long?” Eru saw Ling was riding a horse alongside Long and two other figures in front. “Who’s those two?” Eru observed a handsome, blonde-haired guy and an old military general with white hair and a grey beard.
Eru watched as the two forces met right inside the ruined village. The Dark Heavens squad leader, Xu Huang, was a large man that greatly resembled Xu Zhu. “Is he Xu Zhu’s brother?” Eru thought in his head. The blonde-haired guy squinted his eyes, “You’re with the Dark Heavens?” he asked the one leading the pack. “I am Xu Huang of the Dark Heavens”, Xu Huang cupped his hands, his voice reverberating throughout the whole area. “I am honoured that Governor Eli knew of Dark Heavens and prepared such a large force for us”, Xu Huang eloquently said.
“You are right, guild master Ling”, Governor Eli looked at Ling briefly, “The Dark Heavens are not welcome inside Gale Territory. Surrender now and face justice!” he threatened. Xu Huang chuckled, “Gale Territory always belongs to the Dark Heavens. It is your people that invaded us. Now, the Dark Heavens shall rise again and reclaim what we lost.” Governor Eli frowned, he looked at Sun Jian, and the latter nodded in understanding.
“The Dark Heavens never belong anywhere”, Governor Eli rebuked, “Sure, the Dark Heavens occupied Gale Territory, but what did they do then? Nothing. The only thing the Dark Heavens did when they occupied Gale Territory was to terrorize the masses. You captured people, made them your slave and experimented on them. You lot have no place here, scum!” Governor Eli insulted. Xu Huang let out a wicked chuckle, “Hahaha! What’s wrong with us enslaving the weak? We, the Dark Heavens, are strong. We are meant to rule the weak!”
Governor Eli snickered, “Hah! You talk big, but who’s the one that lost decades ago and was forced to hide like a rat? That’s right, it’s the Dark Heavens.” Veins popped up on Xu Huang’s forehead, “Enough talk, prepare to die! All troops, advance!” Xu Huang rallied with his giant axe held up high. “Don’t let the Dark Heavens win! People of Gale Territory, kill the Dark Heavens!” Governor Eli barked; he pointed his sword towards the Dark Heavens troops before the army charged together. Ling gathered her mana into her mouth, “Adventurers, don’t be afraid! Help the army fight off the despicable Dark Heavens, and you will get paid!” The adventurer’s eyes lit up, they raised their hands in unison, “Yeah!” they yelled.
Meanwhile, Eru looked at the scene before him, dumbfounded. “Wait, what? Is this an emergency war? What the hell is happening?” Eru asked to himself. Eru watched the battle between the Dark Heavens faction and the Governor faction unfold. Eru noticed that between the Dark Heavens and the army, the Dark Heavens had slightly stronger individuals. However, the Tailwind City’s army was able to push the Dark Heavens back thanks to their training as a cohesive unit. The Tailwind City’s army teamwork was unparalleled, and they were able to gain a slight advantage when clashing against the Dark Heavens forces.
Eru saw that there were two outstanding performers between the two forces. From the Dark Heavens faction, it was the large man wielding the giant axe, Xu Huang. And from the army, it was an old man who was holding into a long cleaver with rings attached on the cleaver’s back, Sun Jian. Eru also saw Ling and the rest of the adventurers fighting valiantly. Although most of them were no match for the Dark Heavens army, there were still some powerful fighters. For instance, the young scholar and the valiant woman that Eru tested a couple of days before. Eru watched them growing while fighting, and he also saw Ling, nimbly gracing the battlefield with her talismans.
“Good thing I get away fast from there”, Eru breathe a sigh of relief. “Yes, good thing you escape, brother Eru”, a familiar voice was heard by Eru from his side. Eru jolted, “You!? What are you doing here? And how the hell did you find me here?” Eru looked at Long with his eyes nearly coming out from its socket. Long flashed a smile at Eru, “Hello, brother Eru” Long greeted nonchalantly at Eru. “Answer my question, damn it!” Eru shook his head. “Well”, Long rubbed his chin, “I don’t feel like getting involved in a war of humans, so I look for a direction to escape.”
“When I did, I sensed someone familiar to me. Lo and behold, it’s brother Eru”, Long explained with an innocent smile. Eru sighed while shaking his head. “Besides, I only came here because I want to follow my fellow tribesman. Why should I care about the affair of humans?” Long shrugged his shoulders. “If you don’t care about the affair of humans, why would you push for a change for Gale Territory then?” Eru inquired. Long slightly smiled at Eru, “One, because I’m bored. Second, I want to help madam Olga with her business. As long as Gale Territory maintain this closed up status, madam Olga inn will never thrive in here.”
Eru looked at Long deeply before letting out a sigh, “Whatever, it’s not my place to say what you want to do. Since you’re here, however, help me out then.” Long’s eyebrows raised, “What do you need, brother Eru?” Eru stretched his body, “Help me get out of here. Help me get to Tailwind City. I’m knackered.”

“Here we are, brother Eru”, Long said while crouching. “Thanks”, Eru got down from Long’s back. Thanks to Long carrying Eru on his back, Eru and Long managed to reach Tailwind City in just two days. When they arrived at Tailwind City’s gate, Eru and Long were spotted by a familiar face to Eru. “Eru? What happened to you?” A burly man wearing armour asked with concern. “Ah, Captain An Lin. I’m fine, I’m just injured from work”, Eru explained. An Lin frowned, “You’re not joining the war?” he asked. Eru shook his head, “What war?” Eru asked, playing dumb.
“You must’ve missed them, then”, An Lin rubbed his chin, “Governor Eli and guild master Ling had gathered the army and the adventurers, respectively. It was quite an urgent call, said the Dark Heavens are back.” Eru frowned, “The Dark Heavens?” An Lin nodded, “Yeah, them lot. You’re from outside Gale, so you might not know, but the Dark Heavens are stories parents used to tell their kids when they were being naughty. I can’t believe that the Dark Heavens are real.” Eru nodded, “Oh, they are real, alright. I’m like this because of them. In fact, we were set up by them.”
An Lin’s face contorted with anger, “What!? They set you up?” Eru nodded, “Yup. One of them disguised themselves as an old man from a village somewhere and put up a request on the adventurers.” An Lin squinted his eyes, “So that’s why guild master Ling seemed agitated. Wait, didn’t she leave with you?” he inquired. “She did, along with this man”, Eru pointed at Long. “And they were both injured by the Dark Heavens, and I had to stall so they could escape. Thankfully, I got lucky and managed to kill one of them, but because of that, I had to hunker down for three days”, Eru explained.
An Lin observed Eru up and down before letting out a sigh of relief, “Thankfully, you’re safe. Come inside; it’s not safe out there. Little Yu has been looking for you.”
