Chapter 122: Chapter 122
“Little Yu has been looking for you”, An Lin said with a smile. “Oh, yeah. I haven’t checked out yet”, Eru let out a chuckle when he remembered the cute and silly little girl. Then, Eru and Long were led into Olga’s Peace and Quiet Inn by the ever-enthusiastic Captain An Lin. “Welcome!” A familiar voice greeted Eru, Long and Captain An Lin from inside the inn. Little Yu saw who walked in, and her eyes sparkled. “Brother Long! Customer!” Little Yu said with a beaming smile.
Little Yu approached Long before clumsily hugging him by his waist. Long rubbed Little Yu’s head gently, “I’m back”, his lips curled up into a smile. “Little Yu, please give me the usual”, Eru asked. Little Yu nodded gleefully, “Coming right up, Customer!” she said cheerily. “Hey, don’t forget about us too”, Captain An Lin interjected. “Of course, three usual for our three guests”, Little Yu skipped towards the kitchen. An Lin smiled, watching the little girl, “Shall we?” he said as he led both Eru and Long upstairs.
Eru sat by the windows, followed by Long. An Lin sat before him, “So before we talked, let me ask you one question. Does your usual order taste good?” Eru chuckled, “Of course. You would know that, won’t you, Captain An Lin? Everything here tastes good.” An Lin heaved a sigh, “I do. But, I have bad memories getting screwed over by Olga”, his body shivered. An Lin shook his head, “Anyway, about these Dark Heavens bloke. How dangerous are they really?” An Lin asked with a low voice. Eru and Long’s expression turned serious, “Very dangerous. I did not know why they set us up, but I reckoned guild leader Ling was their target. They even prepared a fake village for it. And the villagers were people turned monsters. So yeah, very dangerous”, Eru explained.
An Lin gasped, “People turned monsters? Even woman and children?” Eru and Long did not say anything and just nodded. An Lin banged the table hard, “Bastard! They are even worse than what we’re told in the legends. I hope Governor Eli and guild master Ling managed to win the war.” Eru responded by nodding his head, “I hope so, too.” They continued to chat, and not long after, they heard footsteps approaching them slowly. “Customer, here is your food!” Little Yu’s little head emerged from the stairs as she held multiple plates in her hands.
“Would you like me to help you with that, Little Yu?” Eru offered. “Don’t need to”, Little Yu said, then she nimbly manoeuvre herself towards the table and put the dishes on the table. Eru’s usual order was there. Four bowls of white rice, tofus, rice dumplings, noodle soups, chicken feet and three hot tea were presented towards Eru, Long and An Lin. “Enjoy your food!” Little Yu said before leaving them, descending the stairs happily. “Whoa, this all looks really good”, Eru salivated. Long nodded, “I agree. In all my years of living, the food inside this inn is one of the best I have tasted.”
“Time to dig in!”

While Eru, Long and An Lin were enjoying themselves by eating delicious food at the Peace and Quiet Inn, the battle between the Dark Heavens and the Governor army plus the Adventurers was still underway. Ling was launching her talismans towards the Dark Heavens people, and Sun Jian was still decimating the Dark Heavens grunt. Governor Eli and Xu Huang were locked in a stalemate as their power level was similar to each other. Xu Huang was stronger than Xu Zhu by a margin as he was a 5th Grade Aura Master. Governor Eli was slightly stronger than Xu Huang, but he could fight toe-to-toe with Governor Eli thanks to Xu Huang’s Star Steel armour.
“Just go ahead and die!” Xu Huang shouted; he twirled his axe in the sky before swinging downwards. Governor Eli easily moved out of the way, “Hah! Such telegraphed attack was too easy to dodge”, Governor Eli taunted. “You!” Xu Huang snarled, “Take this!” Xu Huang kept spinning his axe, creating a whirlwind around him, making it harder for Governor Eli to approach. “Hahaha! Try reaching me now”, Xu Huang provoked. Governor Eli clicked his tongue, “Tch, childish trick.” Governor Eru then stomped his feet, causing a boulder to rise in front of him. After that, Governor Eli kicked the boulder towards Xu Huang, forcing him to stop the whirlwind and block the boulder.
Governor Eli brandished his sword, slashing Xu Huang in his torso. However, thanks to Xu Huang’s Star Steel armour, Governor Eli’s slash could only slightly graze Xu Huang. Although Xu Huang’s skin was protected by his armour, Governor Eli did have a slight trick on his sleeve. Governor Eli gathered his purple aura in his palm, spinning it before hitting Xu Huang in his chest. Xu Huang stepped back in pain as he clutched his chest, “H-how?” he stuttered. Governor Eli snickered, “Although your armour protects you from my sword, in the end, it was still an armour. Heavy armour loses out to heavy blunt weapons. That’s basic knowledge.” Blood dripped from Xu Huang’s mouth, “D-damn you!” he gritted his teeth. Then, Xu Huang turned back, “All forces, retreat!” he shouted.
Xu Huang flared up his aura, retreating immediately from the battlefield. “After them!” Governor Eli barked; he pointed his sword towards the retreating army from the Dark Heavens. Sun Jian, alongside the army, pursued the Dark Heavens while Ling and the Adventurers halted their advance. The Adventurers suffered more casualties than the army since they were slightly weaker than the Dark Heavens forces. “Gathered the deceased and make sure they are properly taken care of. The mages, please help the injured and whoever left, clean up the battlefield”, Ling barked.
Ling followed the uninjured adventurers in ‘cleaning’ up the battlefield. What Ling meant by cleaning was stripping the dead body for their belongings, a.k.a, looting. Ling led the adventurers in taking the weapons and armours from the dead Dark Heavens. “Whoa, this is good stuff”, Ling picked up one of the Dark Heavens swords. Ling observed the sword and found that there was no sign of deformation on the sword. Usually, a sword used on the battlefield would have some sort of deformation, but the sword that Ling held right now did not have any of that.
“I wonder what kind of materials this sword had?” Ling pondered. “All adventurers prioritized their metallic equipment! This is your order!” Ling barked. The adventurers listened to Ling order, and immediately after, they stopped stripping people of their robes and helmet. Instead, all swords, spears, hammers, axes, and amours were all picked up by the adventurers. “Hurry it up! Finished up before the army came back!” Ling shouted. After a while, the adventurers managed to finish their plundering, and they gathered their loot right beside Ling.
Ling then took out one of her talismans, throwing it to the pile of weapons and armours, storing them inside of the talisman. “You know the drill, right?” Ling asked. The adventurers all nodded in response. “After this, please ask your payment to Gu”, Ling informed. The adventurers waited until, eventually, the Tailwind City army came back. Governor Eli approached Ling slowly, “Thank you for your help”, he cupped his hands. Ling cupped her hands back, “It’s the least we can do. After all, the Dark Heavens are a problem for all of us.”
Governor Eli flashed a smile at Ling, “Of course, of course, we all need to help each other. But, there’s something that I wanted to ask you for a while now.” Ling pondered, “What is it?” Governor Eli looked at the almost naked corpse of the Dark Heavens troops, “Why are the corpses empty?” he asked while raising his eyebrow. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. But, if you want to discuss it further, we could talk when we’re back in Tailwind City”, Ling said.
Governor Eli and Ling stared at each other; invisible sparks could be felt between them.

While Governor Eli and Ling were speaking to each other, Eru sat inside his room, being able to finally shower after a few days outside. Eru dried his hair with a towel, “Ah, this is life. I wonder how the war is doing”, Eru pondered. Then, Eru looked back on what happened earlier, “Sigh, so much is happening in my life that I don’t even know what is what anymore” Eru let out a deep sigh. “I just want to go outside and travel the world. But one thing led to another, and here I am”, Eru monologued. He picked up Buddy, “I guess I should let natures take its course, huh, Buddy?”
Buddy buzzed happily, signalling support to Eru. “Thanks, pal. No matter what happens, we’re together, Buddy” Eru put Buddy in its scabbard. Eru laid down on the bed, “Besides, I’m not me from my previous life anymore.” Eru turned his body sideways, “I’m never ever want to go back to the way I was. I never want to be weak anymore”, he mumbled before going back to sleep.
