Governor Eli led Tailwind City’s army back to Tailwind City. Ling walked beside Governor Eli and behind her was Tailwind City’s adventurers. “We have arrived”, Governor Eli said, drawing a sigh of relief from the tired army and the adventurers. When Governor Eli, Ling and the rest arrived on Tailwind City, the city’s residence welcomed them by creating a path for them in the street, launching fireworks and throwing flowers petal at them. “Woohoo! Glory to Governor Eli! Glory to Governor Eli!” the citizens cheered as Governor Eli’s army and the adventurers walked into the city.
Eru looked from afar the dignified appearance of Governor Eli. “Huh, for a governor, that guy is not that bad looking”, Eru exclaimed. “Yea, he’s not that bad. And he’s strong as well. But that guy is crafty as hell, though”, A voice resounded from beside Eru. “And here I thought the mighty guild master would join the parade as well”, Eru quipped. “Fuck you”, Ling snarled, “That’s all you said to me after my effort? Asking for reinforcement to look for you, and yet, here you are, sleeping soundly inside the city”, Ling quipped back.
Eru chuckled, “When I sensed that the ground was trembling, I look that there were two massive forces coming my way, so I quickly escaped from that place.” He continued, “After that, I just happened to meet Long on the way. And, if you want to blame someone, please don’t blame me. Blame Long instead; because of him, I could get back to Tailwind City.” Eru grinned towards Ling. Ling shook her head in exasperation, “Yeah, yeah, whatever you said. Meet me inside the Adventurers Guild later. Governor Eli would like to speak to you. After all, I told Governor Eli everything about you”, Ling winked, “Oh, and bring Long as well”, she said before swiftly leaving from there.
Eru flinched when he heard what Ling said. He sighed as he watched Ling leave, “Hah. Trouble loves me, don’t they?”

Before Eru headed towards the Adventurers Guild, he went back to Olga’s Peace and Quiet Inn and ordered lunch. Like always, Eru sat near by the windows and had Little Yu bring up his food upstairs. “Have a nice meal!” Little Yu said as she cheerily descended the stairs with a big smile on her face. Eru waved his hands towards Little Yu and could not help to let out a chuckle, “That girl always make my mood better with her charismatic smile”, Eru muttered. Eru looked at his food, and immediately after, he gobbled up everything. After Eru finished eating his lunch, he bid farewell to Little Yu as he proceeded towards the Adventurers Guild. Upon arriving there, Eru realized that he had forgotten to bring Long with him. Eru shrugged his shoulders, “Ah, whatever. I don’t know where he lives anyway”, he mumbled as he opened up the door to the Adventurers Guild’s building.
Once inside, Eru was greeted by Ling’s assistant, Gu. “Welcome, Mr Eru. Guild master Ling and Governor Eli are waiting inside the guild master’s office. I’ve been tasked to lead you there”, Gu said politely. Eru nodded, “Okay, lead the way.” Gu observed Eru for a second, “Excuse me, Mr Eru, but did you not bring Mr Long with you?” he asked. Eru shook his head, “Nope. I can’t seem to find him anywhere,” Eru lied as he forgot to look for Long, and Eru did not know where Long does live. Gu led Eru towards the guild master office, and once they were there, Gu knocked on the door.
“Guild master, I’ve brought Mr Eru with me”, Gu informed. Behind the door, Ling’s voice could be heard, “Bring him in”, she commanded. Once inside, Eru found Ling was sitting opposite Governor Eli with a table separating them. “Welcome”, Governor Eli greeted. “Please, take a seat”, Ling said. “Thank you, Gu, you can leave us now”, Ling ordered. Gu cupped his fists, “As you will, guild master”, he said, closing the door before leaving. Eru took a seat beside Ling. He bowed slightly while cupping his hands, “I’m Eru from Bora Village. It’s my pleasure to be acquainted with Governor Eli.”
Governor Eli flashed a smile, “Please, it’s me who is honoured. To be able to foil the Dark Heavens plan at such a young age, I am fortunate to make your acquaintance.” Eru nodded, “Likewise.” Ling grumbled, “Enough sucking on each other slong. We’re going to talk about some serious talk, particularly the Dark Heavens.” After Ling said that, Governor Eli’s expression turned serious. “But, before we start, where the hell is Long?” Ling snarled, “Didn’t I tell you to bring Long with you?”
Eru shrugged his shoulders, “Can’t find him anywhere. Maybe he’s holed up inside his home, and before you ask where that is, I don’t know. He’s just a guy that tagged along.” Ling sighed, “Fine, let’s just start the meeting.” Governor Eli looked at both Eru and Ling before he opened his mouth slowly, “Regarding the Dark Heavens, I wanted you two to tell me once again how did they come to you”, Governor Eli said as he leaned closer towards the table. Ling recounted the story of how a man named Lan Di had visited her in the Adventurers Guild and requested for a job.
She also told Governor Eli about the Forest of Death and the wolves over there. About how Eru managed to kill a lightning giant wolf and when Ling and Long were trapped inside the forest with the flaming wolf. After that, Ling told Governor Eli about Lan Di and the Village Chief and how the Dark Heavens turned all the villagers into various kinds of monstrous creatures. However, Ling did not recount about Eru and Long’s transformation into a dragon-like being and downplayed the wolf, Eru and Long’s strength.
“So that’s how it is”, Governor Eli pondered. Then, Governor Eli scrutinized Eru, “So you stay behind with another one named Li Qiye to halt the Dark Heavens reinforcements?” Eru nodded, “Yes, I did. We managed to kill him. He said his name was Xu Zhu from the Dark Heavens”, Eru explained. “Xu Zhu—” Governor Eli rubbed his chin, “Is it the Xu family from North Gale?” Ling pursed her lips, “It is possible. If that so, then the Dark Heavens have root deeper than we think”, she said sombrely.
The room atmosphere turned sombre after hearing Ling’s words. “The matter of Dark Heavens could be settled later. For now, I heard from Ling that brother Eru was doing the Adventurers pilgrimage?” Governor Eli changed the conversation, instantly lifting the gloomy mood inside the room. Eru nodded, “Yes, I am. In fact, Lan Di request was part of my pilgrimage according to guild master Ling.” Governor Eli smiled, “Guild master Ling and I have been talking, and we decided to hand you our approval”, he continued, “Congratulations, brother Eru, you passed the Gale Territory Adventurers Guild pilgrimage. Hand over your adventurer’s handbook to Ling, and she will stamp it with the Gale Territory special stamp.”
Eru’s eyes widened in surprise, “That’s it?” he blurted out. Ling snorted, “What do you mean that’s it? I would’ve liked for you to do more if it was up to me. But, thanks to this Dark Heavens bullshit, you passed with flying colours.” Eru raised his eyebrow, “So I don’t have to deal with you anymore? Phew, I’m glad”, Eru genuinely said. “What do you mean!?” Ling snarled, and Governor Eli let out a small chuckle. “Anyway, here you go”, Eru handed Ling his adventurer’s handbook, “When could I get this back?” Ling accepted the handbook, “It should be done tomorrow morning.”
Eru nodded, “Right. Am I done here?” Ling and Governor Eli nodded, “Have a good day, brother Eru”, Governor Eli said as he and Ling watched Eru leave the room. After he left, Ling looked sombrely at Governor Eli, “Is this the right thing?” Ling asked. “Yes. After all, this matter is Gale Territory’s problem. We don’t need outsiders to interfere, and besides, he’s done enough. If we can, we should not involve him any deeper than this”, Governor Eli replied. Ling squinted, “But, Eru could be a great asset on fighting the Dark Heavens”, she said hesitatingly. Governor Eli smiled, “He could, but like I said earlier, this is Gale Territory’s problem. We need to handle this on our own for the sake of our goals.”
Ling sighed, “For the sake of our goals.” Governor Eli nodded, “For our independence.”

Eru walked back from the Adventurers Guild and into the Peace and Quiet Inn. When Little Yu heard Eru’s footsteps, she stood in front of the entrance, “Welcome, customers!” she greeted cheerily. However, when Little Yu found out that it was Eru who walked in, she sighed, “Oh, it’s just you.” Eru smiled, “You always did this when I came back”, he rubbed Little Yu’s head. “Stop it, I’m not a child”, Little Yu pouted. Eru stopped rubbing Little Yu’s head, and the latter lifted her tiny head upwards, “The usual, then?” Eru nodded as he ascended the stairs. Eru sat right by the windows, enjoying the quiet night sky.
