Chapter 129: Chapter 129
*Drap Drap Drap Drap*
Sounds of footsteps approached Eru and his surroundings, shaking the ground.
Eru and Long suddenly felt something was wrong. Eru and Long stood up swiftly; they brandished their weapons as they stood back to back, “Be careful”, Long warned. One guard from Duncan’s troupe also felt it, too, as she immediately banged her sword to her shield. Panic appeared on Duncan and Diane’s faces, “What’s wrong, Sydney?” they asked. “Something approaching us!” Sydney warned, “And that something is very strong. Men! Escort the master and the madam to their tents and activate the barrier”, she barked.
“Yes, ma’am!” the remaining twelve men saluted as four people separated from the squad. “Come with us, Master, Madam”; the four people approached Duncan and Diane. “We’re sorry, Mr Eru, Mr Long. It appears we cannot stay and accompany you two any longer. If you’d like, you two can join us inside our tent”, Duncan offered. Eru slightly shook his head, “Don’t worry about us. You two go ahead and protect yourself.” Duncan and Diane bowed, “Then, excuse us.”
Sydney approached Eru with her sword drawn and a bucket shield strapped on her right hand, “You two, you mind helping us with our formation?” she asked while pointing her thumb at her men. “And be under your command? No, thank you”, Long refused; his dragon pride was tickled. “You heard the man. We’ll help when we can, but it would severely weaken us joining a formation we are not familiar with”, Eru added. Sydney clicked her tongue, veins slightly popped up on her forehead, “Suit yourself”, she walked away annoyed.
Eru, Long and Sydney, along with her subordinates, waited, alert and ready. As time went by, the tremors from the ground intensified. Then, from deep within the darkness, a lit-up pair of eyes glared at Eru, Long and Sydney alongside her men. As it got closer, it revealed itself under the light of the nearby torches. Two sharp canines protruded from its mouth as its mouth curled upwards. Smoke came out from its nose while the pattern on its body lit up light blue. The light from its fur revealed itself even more.
Its four hind legs were bent, ready to pounce. The horns on its head glowed blue, and mana gathered around it. As it walked closer, the figure of a giant blue wolf was revealed to Eru, Long and Sydney. “Fuck me, a giant wolf again?” Eru cursed. The Giant Blue Wolf howled, then multiple smaller wolves appeared from the darkness, surrounding the entire area. “Shit!” Sydney grunted, “They got us surrounded.” The men around Sydney were nervous; sweat filled their bodies as fear slowly crept out to them.
Seeing the state of her men, Sydney pursed her lips. She banged her sword on her buckle shield, “Wake up, people! Brandished your sword and face your enemies with bravery! Get into formation if you don’t want to die!” Sydney yelled, rallying her men. Infused with her aura, Sydney’s voice managed to wash away the men’s nervous feeling they felt and replace it with a newfound passion. All the men raised their weapons, “Ou!” they yelled; their morale rose. “She’s quite capable”, Long quipped with slightly raised lips.
“What? You’re interested?” Eru smirked. “Sure, if she can live for a few hundred years after this, I’ll come for her”, Long replied sarcastically. Eru sighed, “Shall we get this over with?” Long nodded, “I’m way ahead of you, brother Eru”, he replied while holding his staff with his right hand and charging towards the pack of wolves. Long jumped up, in front of him appeared a red hexagon, “Fireblast!” he yelled while waving his left hand. The red hexagon glowed up, and the wolves in front of Long were charred to ashes.
“Freaking show off”, Eru chuckled; he held his black sword to the side coated with his raven-coloured aura. “Aura Blade!” Eru swung his black sword, decimating nearly a quarter of the wolves. Sydney and the others jaw dropped; they looked amazed and afraid at the same time seeing the scene in front of them. The Giant Blue Wolf grunted; it growled, bringing more wolves from its pack. “You wolves really bring back bad memories”, Eru grumbled as he slashed a wolf that was charging at him.
“Tell me about it”, Long added. He shoved his hand inside the mouth of a charging wolf. Said charging wolf exploded from the inside, as Long dusted off his clothes, “Dirty mutt”, he said with disgust. Eru and Long worked together in tandem, killing the wolves on their way to the Giant Blue Wolf. “Uh, ma’am, should we follow them both?” one of Sydney’s men asked, shakingly pointing his finger towards Eru and Long. Sydney closed her gaping mouth, “No, we’ll guard here. Protecting our clients has always been our top priority”, she shook her head.
“Looks like they don’t follow us, brother Eru”, Long said as he glanced slightly backwards. “Let them do what they want. After all, their job is to protect Duncan and his family”, Eru squinted, “What I’m worried about is if that Giant Blue Wolf is as strong as the Giant Flaming Wolf or the first Giant Wolf I fought….” Eru pondered. “Even if it’s so, we can handle them no problem together, brother Eru”, Long assured. Eru shook his head, “Yeah, sure. Whatever you say. But I still felt there’s something not right about all of this.”
Eru and Long strolled through the wolves pack with ease. Sydney and her men gaped as they watched the prowess of Eru and Long before them. “Those guys are monsters”, Sydney gulped. “Uh-huh”, her men nodded in agreement. Meanwhile, Eru and Long arrived in front of the Giant Blue Wolf with their weapons drawn. The Giant Blue Wolf growled; its four hind legs were ready to pounce. “What do you think?” Eru asked Long. The latter shook his head, “Nope, they don’t emit their pressure.” Eru rubbed his chin, “I once fought a similar giant wolf that doesn’t emit the overwhelming pressure.”
“Hmm”, Long pondered, “Something indeed feels amiss.” The Giant Blue Wolf barked, its pressure intensified. Sydney and her men braced themselves, they gritted their teeth, and their feet were planted in the ground. However, such pressure was nothing to Eru and Long. Eru was unaffected because he was used to facing opponents with stronger pressure than this, and as for Long, his pride as a dragon made him refuse to bend and bow down to any opponent. Long put his staff on his shoulder, “Do you want to handle this, or should I?” Eru sighed, “You go, then.”
Long smiled, “My pleasure”, he said as his eyes slit into dragon-like eyes. The Giant Blue Wolf snarled; it felt provoked when it saw only one of Eru and Long was coming at it. Long could feel that the Giant Blue Wolf was annoyed through his senses. He smirked, “I alone am enough for you, mutt!” Long brandished his staff, hitting the Giant Blue Wolf on its body. The Giant Blue Wolf was sent backwards a little, but it immediately retaliated. It gathered mana on its horn as water formed from the mana. The Giant Blue Wolf howled; it sent a high-pressure water stream towards Long.
“Child’s play”, Long quipped; he spun his staff, diverting the high-pressure water stream. Long jumped, he extended his hand out, “Fireball!” A fireball hit the Giant Blue Wolf on its torso before lading behind it. The Giant Blue Wolf tried kicking Long, who was now behind it, but Long quickly grabbed those legs. “Up you go”, Long planted his feet, trapping the Giant Blue Wolf’s legs on his armpit before swinging it, throwing the Giant Blue Wolf towards a nearby tree. The Giant Blue Wolf quickly went back to its feet, snarling and glaring at Long with hateful eyes.
“You hate me, yeah? Come on then, show me what you’ve got!” Long provoked with a wicked smile and slanted eyes. As if it understood Long’s words, the Giant Blue Wolf growled. It got even mad as it released a terrifying pressure. Sydney and her men were already using all they’ve got to resist the pressure. However, this one move from the Giant Blue Wolf managed to bring them to their knees. “Fuck”, Sydney cursed, “How the hell did these two guys can keep standing in the face of such pressure?”
As Sydney said that, the pressure emitted from the Giant Blue Wolf continued to intensify, making several of her men pass out. Sydney buckled down even more, forcing her to use her sword to propel herself. Blood trickled from her mouth as Sydney tried to keep her consciousness open. She saw her subordinates collapse one by one, and they even started to bleed. Upon seeing that scene, Eru frowned. He appeared right in front of Sydney and her men in an instant before using his black sword to stab into the ground. “Ha!” Eru shouted, his raven-coloured aura expanded, dissipating the pressure weighing down on Sydney and her men.
“Yo, you’re alright?”
