Unbeknownst to them, Sydney’s father saw the interaction between his daughter and Eru. He thought that the two seemed to be a little closer than what he would’ve liked. “That rude bastard! Flirting in front of her old man, I’ve got to teach him a lesson,’ Sydney’s father thought inside of his head as he walked steadily towards Eru and Sydney. Then, before Sydney and Eru went away towards the training ground, Sydney’s father stopped them in their tracks. He drew the blade that strapped in his back,
“Young man, I challenge you to a duel!” Sydney’s father pointed the tip of his blade at Eru’s face. Sydney flinched back, and Eru stood dumbfounded. “Dad!” Sydney stomped her foot. She was embarrassed that her dad was doing stupid things in front of her teacher, well, at least someone that taught her previously. “Don’t stop me, daughter”, Sydney’s father said, “This young man dared to flirt around with you when I, your father, was right in front of him. If he wants to take you on a date, he must defeat me first!” Sydney’s father declared.
On the side, a certain red-haired man, Long, was laughing uncontrollably, looking at the scene in front of him. “Uh, excuse me, sir, but can you please explain to me what happened please?” Eru asked with a straight face, further angering Sydney’s father. “You duel with me!” Sydney’s father said. After that, Sydney’s father leaked out his aura a little bit, his eyes blazing, full of fighting spirit. Sydney pouted; she stomped her feet into the ground, getting in the way between her father and Eru.
“Dad, stop it! Don’t embarrass me in front of my teacher”, Sydney tried to explain. However, since Sydney’s father had his focus on Eru, only a few fragments from Sydney’s sentence reached his ears. “Embarrass? You embarrassed my daughter!?” Sydney’s father erupted with anger while Sydney herself facepalmed. Then, suddenly, Sydney’s father brandished his blade before striking at Eru. In reflex, Eru drew Buddy out from its scabbard, blocking Sydney’s father’s strike.
“Guh”, Sydney’s father grunted; he stepped backwards before turning away from Eru, “You better come. I shall wait for you in the training grounds”, he said before leaving Eru dumbfounded at the spot. As Eru watched Sydney’s father leave, Eru’s mouth was still agape, “Uh, what’s just happened?” Eru muttered, confused about this entire situation. Then, Sydney bowed her head, “I’m so sorry about my father. I’ll go talk to him right now”, she said. However, just as Eru was about to reply, he heard a notification sound inside of his head.

Eru’s jaw was hanging out, his mouth was wide open. ‘Jon? Who’s Jon?’ Eru thought before realizing that Jon was the name of Sydney’s father. He sighed before stopping Sydney by grabbing Sydney by her shoulder, “No, let me. Your father challenged me, does he not? What is a man if he refused a challenge issued to him?” Sydney felt complicated. On the one hand, Sydney saw the ridiculousness and overprotectiveness of her father towards herself, and that caused him to challenge Eru in the process. On the other hand, Sydney also felt that Eru had the right to accept her father’s challenge and being provoked by her father.
“Y-you don’t have to, teacher” Sydney tried stopping Eru, but Eru was already walking away. Not long after, however, Eru turned back, “Where is the training grounds located?” Eru asked, feeling quite embarrassed after walking away trying to look cool. Long chuckled while Eru’s face was slightly red. Sydney held back her laugh, “Follow me, then teacher”, she said before leading Eru towards the training grounds. Eru found that to get to the training ground, Eru, Long, and Sydney had to descent through an elevator to get to the floor below. “Ah, so that’s why the elevator from the mall to the residence was so long”, Eru muttered.
As Sydney led Eru and Long towards the training grounds, Eru found that there were a couple of guards looking menacingly towards Eru. But when they saw that Sydney was leading them, they turned respectful before averting their gazes. Then, Sydney stopped in front of a large door. “Is this the training grounds?” Eru asked. Sydney opened the large door for Eru and Long before answering, “Yup”, she confirmed. Then, when Sydney completely opened the door, Sydney’s father, Jon, was standing upright at the centre of the training grounds.
“So you’ve come”, Jon said calmly before opening his eyes. Jon’s expression was fierce; his white hair that was combed down previously was now spiked up, revealing his face. Jon had scars all over his face, evidence from the many battles he experienced when he was younger. Jon’s battle outfit was a sleeveless armour that fully revealed his well-toned body. Jon let out his aura, his fighting spirit high and ready to fight. Jon pointed his blade towards Eru, “Come, ready yourself and prepare for battle”, he barked.
“Dad, listen to me first”, Sydney shouted, but Eru’s put his hand over Sydney’s shoulder, “It’s okay. I’m going”, Eru said before walking forward. Eru and Jon met face to face. They glared at each other, sending their fighting spirit by their eyes. Sydney’s father flared up his aura. A golden-coloured aura came out from within Jon, revealing his prowess as a 4th Grade Aura Master. Not wanting to lose to Jon, Eru also flared up his own raven-coloured aura. His 3rd Grade Aura clashed with Jon’s 4th Grade Aura, creating a mix of black and gold on the sky.
Sydney’s father, Jon, eyes widened; he had a look of appreciation on his face when he saw Eru’s prowess. “Hooh, possessing such power at such a young age is rare indeed. But, if you want to have my daughter, you need to defeat me first”, challenged Jon as he raised his blade up. Eru unsheathed his black sword, Buddy, from its scabbard as he shook his head, “You know, old man, you misunderstand easily” Eru scratched the back of his head. Eru held his black sword with two hands, “I’m not doing this for your daughter. I’m doing this because you challenge me”, Eru said as he focused his attention on Jon.
“Stop lying, ya bastard!” Jon barked, then he stepped backwards, creating distance between him and Eru. “En Garde!” Jon shouted before charging at Eru while holding his blade up high. Eru sighed, “I’m not lying”, he said while thrusting his black sword forward. Jon managed to avoid Eru’s thrust by stepping to the side, “Die!” he shouted while slashing his blade horizontally towards Eru. Eru immediately pulled back his hands, and using his black sword, Eru blocked Jon’s blade from reaching him, from slashing him.
“You know, old man, if you keep being stubborn, you will eventually get hurt”, Eru said as he locked Jon’s blade with his own black sword before kicking Jon away with his right foot. “Don’t get cocky, young man”, Jon scoffed, again he rushed forward towards Eru. Eru and Jon clashed swords, parrying and striking each other repeatedly. The clash of sword and blade between Eru and Jon made Sydney, the only spectator beside Long, stand in awe. “Incredible”, Sydney muttered, “I knew my father’s techniques were wonderful, but I did not expect that teacher could match my father.”
Long that stood beside Sydney let out a small chuckle, “You haven’t seen anything that brother Eru was capable of”, he said, “If brother Eru wanted to, he could end this duel right here and right now, and your father wouldn’t stand a chance.” Sydney looked at Long sceptically, “Although teacher Eru is strong, there’s no way what you said was the truth.” Long smirked, “Doubt me all you want” Long clicked his tongue, “And remember, being able to be taught by brother Eru was a blessing you will never reply.” Sydney ignored what Long had to say before focusing on the fight between her father and Eru. Long scoffed, “Silly woman”, he mumbled before he too observed Eru’s fight with Jon.
Sydney’s father, Jon, and Eru continued their clash of sword and blade for a hot minute. They fought each other without using much of their aura. The stalemate between Jon and Eru continued for a long time until, eventually, Jon has had enough. “This is getting nowhere”, Jon said. Eru pointed his black sword at Jon, “Then give up, old man.” Jon chuckled, “Give up? There’s no such thing in my dictionary”, Jon said as his aura started to thicken around him. Golden-coloured aura swirled on top of Jon, “I’m going all-out!” Jon shouted. The wind pressure from Jon’s aura made Sydney flinched backwards and caused dust to fly anywhere.
“Here I come!” Jon said loudly as he charged towards Eru.
