Chapter 140: Chapter 140
Sydney’s father, Jon, and Eru continued their clash of sword and blade for a hot minute. They fought each other without using much of their aura. The stalemate between Jon and Eru continued for a long time until, eventually, Jon has had enough. “This is getting nowhere”, Jon said. Eru pointed his black sword at Jon, “Then give up, old man.” Jon chuckled, “Give up? There’s no such thing in my dictionary”, Jon said as his aura started to thicken around him. Golden-coloured aura swirled on top of Jon, “I’m going all-out!” Jon shouted. The wind pressure from Jon’s aura made Sydney flinched backwards and caused dust to fly anywhere.
Not willing to lose out to Sydney’s father, Eru also flared up his own raven-coloured aura. Eru’s aura swirled around him as golden-coloured aura, and raven-coloured aura clashed once again. “Here I come!” Jon shouted; his golden-coloured aura condensed around Jon’s body, slightly empowering Jon even further. Eru did the same as he prepared himself from Jon’s fearless charge. Jon struck down, his blade meeting Eru’s sword. However, this time, since Jon and Eru coated their body with their own aura, the clash between Jon and Eru caused a massive explosion.
The explosion sent shockwaves everywhere, wrecking the training grounds in the process and sending Sydney flying back. Just before Sydney hit her head on the wall, Long’s hand extended and grabbed her by her collar. “Thanks”, Sydney said as Long slightly nodded his head. Then, Sydney raised her head up; she saw her father and Eru was fighting ferociously as their weapons clashed against each other. “Whoa”, Sydney exclaimed while looking at the fight between her father and Eru.
Meanwhile, Jon grunted. He stepped back due to blocking Eru’s strike, “Not bad, boy. But not good enough!” he yelled. Jon quickly recovered on his feet before locking swords again with Eru. Jon used his set of skills to perfections, reflecting on his experience from countless battles he experienced back when he was younger. Using that, Jon managed to push back Eru because of Eru’s lack of experience compared to Jon. Jon used various tactics he learned when he was younger to gain the upper hand.
“Guh”, Eru grunted. He was having a hard time now ever since Jon flared up his aura. Thanks to that, Jon gained significant power and speed boost to his movements. Coupled with that, Jon changed his tactics; he changed the way he approached the fight ever so slightly, making Eru have a hard time guessing Jon’s next move. Usually, Eru was quite good at predicting his opponents’ movements thanks to the training that his father, Rudi, instilled in him when he was at such a young age. However, now, Eru was forced to adapt in an instant due to Jon’s unpredictable movements.
“Hmm”, Long rubbed his chin, “I might’ve underestimated the old man a little too much”, he said when Long saw that Eru was being pushed back. “See? I knew you were lying when you said that teacher Eru could defeat my father right here right now”, Sydney quipped with a small smile on her face. Long grunted; he ignored Sydney, continuing to watch the fight between Eru and Jon.
Jon used his sabre to twist Eru’s black sword before dispossessing the black sword from Eru. Eru eyes widened; his expression was filled with shock and disbelieve when Jon disarmed him so easily. “Hah”, Jon pursed his lips, “You’re good, but I’m better”, he smirked as he pointed the tip of his blade at Eru’s face. Eru gritted his teeth, “I haven’t lost just yet!” Eru shouted. Then, Eru willed it inside of his head; in an instant, Buddy appeared right inside of Eru’s grip. After that, Eru swatted away Jon’s blade before delivering a combination of attacks towards Jon.
Jon’s eyes opened wide with a surprised look on his face, stupified when he saw Eru’s black sword suddenly appear in his hand. “What kind of sword is that!?” Jon exclaimed while defending against Eru’s barrage of attacks. “I told you, you’re good but not good enough”, once again, Jon used his vast experience against Eru, parrying Eru’s sword away before disarming him once again. However, Eru learned from his mistakes this time, as when Jon disarmed him, Eru used that split second to get into Jon’s space before delivering a devastating palm strike at Jon’s torso.
Jon was taken aback when Eru sent a palm strike at his torso, sending him flying back slightly. Because of that, Jon did not notice that Eru’s black sword was already in his grip. Eru used Jon’s disorientated state to his advantage. Eru quickly moved to Jon’s side, putting his leg behind Jon’s body before pushing him, tripping Jon causing him to fall to the ground. Eru pointed the tip of his black sword close to Jon’s face, “How about that, old man?” Eru smiled smugly.
Jon gritted his teeth, “Not yet, young man! It will take more than that to defeat me!” he shouted. Jon swatted Eru’s black sword, his gold-coloured aura appeared on his hands. Jon blasted out his aura to the ground to propel himself backwards, creating some distance between him and Eru. “I’m not letting you run away”, Eru chased after Jon, not letting the latter to have a breather and recover. “Tch”, Jon pursed his lips, this time, Jon was forced to be the one on the defensive side.
“Come on, just give up already, old man”, Eru taunted; he continued to slash and strike his black sword towards Jon. “Never!” the dark-skinned old man shouted, “Giving up was and will never be in this Jon’s family!” he declared while defending himself against Eru’s barrage of attacks. Then, Eru took it upon himself to step backwards, creating some distance between Jon and himself. Jon was stupefied on Eru’s decision, ‘Why did he do this? This kid had all the momentum, and he decided to move away? What is he planning?’ Jon thought in his head as he furrowed his eyebrows.
Eru gathered his raven-coloured aura in his black sword, further darkened it. “Take my move, Crescent Moon Slash!” Eru shouted as he sent numerous amount of aura blades towards Jon. “Shit”, Jon exclaimed while he raised his aura to the max in order to defend himself. While Jon was defending himself against Eru’s aura blades, Eru was gathering his raven-coloured aura around him. Eru saw that his aura blades did not manage to deal significant damage to Jon. However, Eru only let out a smirk, “It’s been a while since I used this technique”, he mumbled to himself.
Then, multiple copies of Eru appeared beside him, “Be proud, old man. Not many people managed to see this technique of mine,” Eru shouted, “Darkness Clone!” Eru’s copies started to solidify, forming multiple dark silhouettes of Eru holding a black sword. Eru pointed his black sword at Jon, “Charge!” he barked, ordering his clones to surround the dark-skinned old man. “Aura clones?” Jon exclaimed after fending off Eru’s aura blades. ‘What a talented young man!’, Jon thought in his head, ‘Using such difficult technique when he’s only a 3rd Grade Aura Master and barely three decades old, Sydney found a good man.’
Jon shook his head, “What am I thinking!? I’m not giving my daughter away”, Jon muttered while continuing to sharpen his golden-coloured aura to the max. Eru lined himself up with his clones as he smiled smugly towards Jon, “So, what are you going to do, old man?”
Jon’s lips curled up a little, “Cheeky kid.”

While Eru was fighting Jon inside of Duncan’s family mansion training grounds, the mayor sat beside Deddy, wiping his son’s sweat. The mayor, the man with a curly moustache, looked worried when he looked at his son. Suddenly, the man with a curly moustache felt a movement from Deddy. The latter grunted, then Deddy slowly opened his eyes, finding himself to be inside of his room. He looked around his surroundings, finding his father with a worried look on his face. “What’s wrong, dad? Why do you look at me like that?” Deddy asked with a soft and gentle voice.
The man with a curly moustache hesitated before finally moving his mouth open, “How are you doing, son?” Deddy tried to move his body, but he found that he couldn’t do so, “What happened to me?” he asked. “Don’t you remember? You have been injured”, the man with a curly mouth informed, “But don’t you worry, I will find that bastard and cut off his arm!” he declared. Deddy extended his left hand at the man with a curly moustache, “Please don’t do so, dad. After all, you taught me to listen to the other side’s story first before making a move.”
The man with a curly moustache’s expression contorted, “Listen to the other party’s story? Look at your right arm; it has been bloody cut off! You expect me to listen to the other party’s story?” the man with a curly moustache shouted with anger and fury was burning inside of his eyes.
