After hearing the two notifications inside of his head, Eru let out a sigh. Then, he glanced around before looking at the dark-skinned woman near him, ‘Is she one of the carriers of abominations? Huh, who would’ve thought….’ Eru said in his head. While carrying Jon into the infirmary, the trio had to use the elevator to ascend to the higher floor. When they did, they met Duncan, Diane, and a bunch of men in armour circling Duncan and Diane, waiting with their weapons drawn.
“Jon!” Duncan exclaimed when he saw the state of his head guard, “What happened to him?” Duncan inquired. Then, Duncan waved his hand, “Men, bring Commander Jon to the infirmary!” Duncan ordered. Then, a couple of guards approached Eru, Long and Sydney before taking Jon with them and bringing him away to the infirmary. After that, Duncan approached Eru and the others, “So, what happened to him?” he asked, concern and slight anger were in his voice.
Sydney stepped forward, “Reporting to the master!” she saluted, “Head Commander Jon was injured in an exchange of pointer, sir!” Duncan furrowed his eyebrows, he squinted his eyes, looking at Sydney, then to Long, and finally, his gaze landed on Eru, “Did he fight with you, Mr Eru?” Eru shook his head, “Like the young lady said, we had an exchange of pointer.” Duncan raised one of his eyebrows, “To the extent that my head commander injured like that?” he asked, sceptical. Eru smirked, “We had an intense exchange of pointer.”
Duncan sighed in exasperation; he knew the personality of his Head Commander well. Duncan noticed that Sydney, Jon’s daughter and the captain of his personal guard, was close to Eru. Duncan knew that Jon had an overprotective personality when it came to his daughter since many suitors from Sylphid Coast City and even some from his own personal guards were sent to the hospital by Jon. “Don’t worry, Mr Eru, I won’t blame you. My Head Commander can be a little bit—” Duncan paused, “Temperamental. For that, I apologize on behalf of him” Duncan took off his top hat and placed it in front of his chest and slightly bowed.
Eru waved his hand, “Don’t worry about it, it’s fine”, then Eru looked up into the sky, finding that the sun had nearly set. Noticing this, Duncan cleared his throat, “For my apologies, why don’t I invite you to dinner?” he offered. “Sure”, Eru replied, “I’m quite spent actually.” Then, Duncan and Diane led Eru and Long inside their manor. “If you don’t mind me asking, Mr Duncan, do you have a bath here?” Eru asked. Instead of Duncan, who replied, Diane nodded her head, “Yes, of course. Do you desire of taking a bath here, Mr Eru?” she asked. “If you don’t mind”, Eru said.
Diane let out a smile, “Of course, we don’t mind. After all, yesterday, Mr Long had bathed here already.” Eru shot a glare at Long before returning his attention towards Duncan and Diane, “Thank you for your kindness”, Eru replied. Then, Eru suddenly thought of something, “Um, can I go grab my clothes first before taking a bath?” he asked. Duncan laughed, “Of course. As a matter of fact, why don’t you go ahead and grab all your stuff from the Adventurers Guild and stay the night? You were always welcome here in my estate”, Duncan offered with a wide smile on his face.
Eru rubbed his chin, “Let me think about it while I go grab my stuff.” Duncan smiled, “Sure. Guard!” Duncan shouted. Then, a single male guard approached Duncan, “Yes, master?” he saluted. “Please accompany Mr Eru to grab his stuff from the Adventurers Guild”, Duncan ordered. “As you wish”, the guard said before looking at Eru, “I’ll be accompanying you, Mr Eru”, he said. Then, Eru was led outside by the male guard outside the manor and down into the shopping mall.
As Eru and the male guard walked through the shopping mall, Eru couldn’t help but notice the name of the building was unusual. “Can I ask you something?” Eru said to the male guard. “Of course, Mr Eru”, the male guard replied politely. “Do you know what D/D means?” Eru curiously asked. “D/D? Oh, it’s the name of master’s company”, the male guard replied. “Hmm? That’s a strange name for a company, isn’t it?” Eru asked. The male guard was about to agree before his whole body shivering, “U-uh, I’ve got no comments on that”, he said as he remembered something from the past.
“Do you know what it stands for?”
The male guard shook his head, “No, unfortunately, I don’t know. I’m sure my master would gladly answer that question for you, Mr Eru”, he said. Eru nodded as he and the male guard continued their way into the Adventurers Guild’s building. On the way, Eru looked at the setting sun from the main plaza, “It’s quite beautiful from here”, Eru exclaimed. The male guard heard what Eru said and couldn’t help feeling proud as he was a resident who originated from Sylphid Coast City. Eru stopped for a while; he was standing near the plaza’s guard rails, appreciating the view of the sunset, when suddenly he was bumped by someone.
“Oh, sorry about that”, a little boy about four years old said, rubbing his nose. Eru flashed a gentle smile at the young boy, “It’s fine”, Eru said. “Idre, don’t run around! What if you get lost!?” The shouting voice of a woman could be heard as she and a man, presumably her husband, tried catching up with the little boy that bumped into Eru. When the husband and wife saw that his little boy was nearing a stranger, thoughts flew in their heads. But, when they saw that their kid was rubbing his nose sitting on the ground, the pair of husband and wife could guess what happened.
The husband crouched down; he grabbed the little boy before lifting him up and carrying the little boy on his back. Then, the wife approached Eru before slightly bowing her head, “I’m sorry for my son”, she said, apologizing. Eru scratched the back of his head, waving his hand; he said, “No, no. It’s okay. Kids should be allowed to be energetic and enjoy their childhood while they can.” The wife felt that Eru’s sentence was a bit weird. After that, the wife bowed once again before leaving with her husband and child.
When Eru saw the family left cheerily, they reminded Eru of his own family. Eru turned around; he looked at the sunset and sighed, “I miss you, mom, dad”, he mumbled. Eru stared at the sun melancholically while the male guard stood awkwardly around Eru, ‘Uh, should I say something?’ the male guard thought before shaking his head, ‘I better wait.’

Meanwhile, at Gale Territory.
Well, not precisely Gale Territory, but on the outskirts of Gale stood a man wearing a straw hat with a cape on his back. Beside him stood a familiar-looking girl, equipped with travelling gear as they stared at their inn with complicated emotion on their face. “You sure you want to leave, father?” the girl asked, raising her head to look at her father. The father nodded, “My mind is made up”, he said, lifting his arm with a letter in his hand, “If I didn’t leave now, I would’ve regretted it for the rest of my life.”
Then, the father cast a loving gaze on his daughter, “How about you? Are you sure you wanted to leave with me, Mei?” he asked. Mei, the daughter of the inn’s master, nodded with a smile, “Of course. After all, I also have a score to settle.” Mei’s father gently pat her on the head, “Are you sure? What about the young man you promised before?” Mei shook her head, “He had his path; I have mine. If fate permits us to meet again, which I’m sure we will, then I’ll figure it out from there”, she grinned.
Mei’s father smirked, “As you wish”, he said, then he went silent. After waiting for a while, Mei confusingly looked at her father, “Um, dad, what are we waiting for?” Mei’s father crossed his arms, “We’re waiting for some old friends”, he said. Before long, three silhouettes appeared. “Took you long enough”, the innkeeper said, his lips slightly curled up into a smile.
“Yo, brother Han Jue, long time no see!”
