Chapter 157: Chapter 157
“Is what you said true?” the armoured woman furrowed her eyebrows after hearing the young man’s story. “Y-yes, it’s true. The one that pursued me was only a single monster; there’s a whole pack of them in the Coast Forrest”, the young student stated. He continued, “My friends and I had a task there from the academy to collect herbs and other materials for a research subject. And that’s when we stumbled across a strange building right in the centre of the forest”, the young student said as fear was visible in his eyes.
The young student’s body was trembling, “Out of curiosity, we checked out that strange building. At first, we found the building fascinating. The materials used for the building was foreign to us. We tried to enter the building, but the door was closed. We looked for another entrance, and eventually, we found one right behind the building. Through the cracks behind the building, we managed to somehow squeeze ourselves in. Once we did, we found a huge stair down to the underground. We followed the stairs downwards before finding ourselves inside a massive room, devoid of light”, the young student narrated.
The young student took a deep breath before continuing, “Curious of what inside, my friend cast a spell, which illuminated the entire room. After that was when our nightmare began. Once the room was illuminated because of my friend’s spell, we saw many monstrous creatures that did not exist in the academy bestiary.” The armoured woman frowned, “Like the one we killed earlier?” she asked. The young student nodded, “Yes, and some”, the young student informed.
Then, the young student continued his story, “We were surprised. Shock and fear overwhelmed us as the pressures the monstrous creatures gave us were really suffocating. But when we saw that the monstrous creatures were not moving, we breathed a sigh of relief. We began to explore the place, but when one of my friends touched one creature, it moved slightly.” The young man shuddered before continuing, “After one creature moved, the other monstrous creatures also moved. That’s when one of my friends got killed by the creatures. We ran for our lives, but when I stumbled down, my other friend threw me away and stayed in my place.”
The young man sobbed, “H-he used himself as a bait to lure the other monstrous creatures, yelling to me to escape and tell the principal. However, not all monstrous creatures went towards my friend. One of them, that monster”, the young man pointed at the troll-like creatures, “Noticed me and chased me. I managed to last long enough to exit the Coast Forest and the rest… Was history.”
The armoured woman gritted her teeth while the rest of the soldiers had ugly expressions on their faces. “Now you guys understand the severity of the situation, right? We need to hurry up back to the academy and report it to the principal”, the young student urged. The armoured woman nodded, “Right, we need to hurry up and report it to the principal.” However, just as the armoured woman said that multiple roars could be heard from the direction of Coast Forest.
“Not good”, the armoured woman furrowed her eyebrows. Then, the armoured woman, the soldiers and the young student saw a legion of monstrous creatures, all varying in sizes and shapes. Their expressions dropped when they felt the pressure coming from the monstrous creatures that were coming at them. “Men!” the armoured woman barked, “Retreat to the academy! Move with haste!” The armoured woman led the soldiers to retreat from the situation. As the soldiers escaped with the young student, the armoured woman turned around. She softly chanted, “Fire”, as she drew her sword.
The armoured woman swung her sword, creating a smokescreen for herself and her squad. “I hope this slows them down a little bit”, the armoured woman said before softly chanting, “Pit.” Then, the armoured woman moved her sword, drawing a giant circle within the smokescreen. “That should be enough”, she said before leaving the area to catch up with her men.

After the armoured woman and her squad left the area, the monstrous creatures continued rampaging. They had no regard for their surroundings as they continued advancing forward. However, just as the monstrous creatures were about to cross the smokescreen left by the armoured woman, suddenly they heard a loud, ringing noise from behind them. The monstrous creatures let out a painful roar before they all fell on their knees. “There, there. It’s still too early for you guys to rampage”, an unknown, feminine voice resounded, “Then again, since we’ve already been discovered, maybe it’s about time we showed our face to the world?”
Then, a mysterious figure dressed in black, the one that the young student told the armoured woman and her squad about, appeared behind the row of monstrous creatures, holding a white flute in her hand. The mysterious figure took off her cloak, revealing her facial features completely. Her red hair and her exquisite dark skin, plus facial features, made the woman extremely pleasing to the eyes. She pursed her purple lipsticked lips while shrugging her shoulders, “Eh, it wouldn’t hurt us too bad to do so.” Then, the red-haired woman approached a monstrous creature that looked like a hobgoblin meshed with a kobold, “You! Led a few of your guys and attacked the academy. You know your job, right?”
The red-haired woman tapped the creature’s head using the white flute while glaring at it menacingly. The hobgoblin-like creature weakly nodded its head before roaring to the sky. Afterwards, a few monstrous creatures of varying sizes and shapes appeared in front of it before the hobgoblin-like creature led them away from the area. Before they disappeared from the red-haired woman, however, she sent out a mysterious spell, attaching it into the body of the hobgoblin-like creature. “That should be enough to grab their attention”, the red-haired woman muttered before blowing the white flute in her hand.
The remaining monstrous creatures roared in pain while the red-haired woman put on her cloak again, “Come, you dumb creatures. It’s time to go home”, she barked before leading the pack of monstrous creatures back into their lairs.

“Please don’t leave me”, a little boy shouted. He chased after two shadowy people, but no matter how hard he tried, the two shadowy figures were uncatchable to the little boy. “Please, no!” the little boy pleaded, “Please don’t leave me alone! Mom, Dad!” the little boy screamed before he watched the two shadowy figures disappear from his eyes.
“No!”
Eru screamed as his hand reached out to the sky. “Hah, hah, hah”, sweat continuously dripped down from Eru’s face like a streaming river. Eru gritted his teeth and clenched his fists tightly, “Damn, that nightmare again”, Eru mumbled, he shook his head. Eru pondered for a while before heaving a sigh, “Well, no point in dwelling on it”, he said as he got up from the bed and wore his signature clothes. He gathered his belongings before proceeding to leave the room.
Upon exiting the room, Eru found himself in a middle of a hallway, with busy maid and servant going back and forth. “Oh, good morning Mr Eru; how did you feel?” greeted a familiar face to Eru. “Uh, hello, good morning. I’m good, thank you,” Eru replied. The one who greeted Eru was a servant who gave him fancy clothes yesterday evening. The servant smiled, “It’s good to hear. By the way, Mr Eru”, the servant said, “Someone from the adventurers guild looked for you earlier. He said that the guild master is looking for you”, the servant informed.
“Do you know what is it about?” Eru inquired. The servant’s head shook, “He said something about a pilgrimage or something, I can’t remember clearly. Oh, and he also said that you should see the guild master as soon as you can.” Eru nodded, “Okay, thanks”, Eru said before leaving. When Eru came out from the mansion, Eru saw Long in the garden, playing around with Damian. “Oh, brother Eru, you’re awake”, Long exclaimed when he saw Eru was coming out from the mansion. Damian’s smile brightened upon seeing Eru. He immediately ran towards Eru, giving him a hug, “Good morning, brother Eru.”
Eru rubbed Damina’s hair, “Good morning to you too, Damian”, he smiled. “Come, let’s play together, brother Eru”, Damian said, “Brother Long and I were playing tag before you came along. With three people, we could have even more fun!” Damian said excitedly. Eru smiled wryly, “I’m sorry, Damian, but I need to go soon” he crouched down. “Aw”, Damian’s shoulders dropped, disappointed. “Now, now, Damian. Mr Eru here needs to go to work” Diane approached Damian and picked him up, carrying him in her arms.
Duncan approached Eru before bowing his head, “I’m sorry for the inconvenience yesterday, Mr Eru”, he said, “I’m a failure. Because of my lack of security, you got attacked inside my home.” Eru sighed; he shook his head and patted Duncan by his shoulders, “It’s okay. You’re not the one at fault.” Duncan raised his head, “Mr Eru”, he said, his eyes sparkling. “Don’t worry, Mr Eru”, Duncan clenched his fist, “I will find out who’s the one behind this.” Eru nodded, “Thank you”, he said, “Be very careful, though, Mr Duncan”, Eru warned.
After saying goodbye to Duncan and his family, Eru headed towards the Adventurers Guild. Upon arriving there, Eru immediately took the lift and went to the guild master’s office. Eru found that the guild master’s office door was not locked. “Come in”, the guild master, Alexandro, said. Eru opened the door gently, finding that along with the guild master, there was a familiar face to Eru here.
“What are you doing here?”
