Chapter 160: Chapter 160
Meanwhile, after the barrier was closed again by the old lady, the monstrous creatures continued their attacks on the barrier. However, different from the previous barrier, this time, the old lady added a little bit more juice to the barrier, making the barrier even stronger than before. The monstrous creature that resembled a hobgoblin frowned. It nervously looked at the barrier as sweat poured out from its glans. “Rawr, rawr, rawr!” it lets out a sound, ordering the monstrous creatures around it to attack with more ferocity.
Unfortunately for the monstrous creature that resembled a hobgoblin, the other monstrous creatures attack little to nothing to the barrier. As it continued to be so, the monstrous creature that resembled a hobgoblin began to feel fear. Not because of the barrier, but because of what the red-haired woman might do to it later if it failed. However, what the monstrous creature that resembled a hobgoblin did not know was the red-haired woman was observing them all this time.
She stood tall on top of a tree, her lips curled up, “As expected for someone close to being an Archmage. Looks like I underestimated you, Helga Stormwind.” The red-haired woman kept observing the monstrous creatures advanced while rubbing her chin, “Should I take this chance and send the remaining creatures to them?” she pondered. The red-haired woman shrugged her shoulders, “Eh, why not”, she said, “Maybe send a little squad to help the imbeciles down below and cause even more trouble to Helga Stormwind.” The red-haired woman nodded, “Yeah, let’s do that.”
However, suddenly, the red-haired woman felt something fast was approaching her. “Danger”, she muttered before jumping away from the tree. The red-haired woman landed gracefully on top of another tree. She squinted her eyes towards the direction of the attack. “Helga Stormwind”, she furrowed her eyebrows while gritting her teeth as she watched the old lady on top of Sylphid Academy’s roof let out a mocking smile towards her. The red-haired woman growled, “Just you wait, old hag” she bit her lips, “You will not live long. I’ll kill you personally when the time comes.”

Eru’s eyes opened wide when he saw the familiar figure in front of him, “Cina?” he exclaimed. “Yo”, Cina waved her hand. Then, Cina stood beside Eru and Sydney before bowing at Alexandro, “Adventurer Cina reporting for duty”, she saluted. Alexandro waved his hands, “Sure, sure”, he replied casually, “Since we’re all here, I will now tell you the mission for the pilgrimage.” Eru’s posture straightened up, focusing on hearing Alexandro. The latter leaned forward as his eyes turned serious.
“A few hours ago, we received a request of reinforcements from the army”, Alexandro informed, “I don’t know why they did this, but I have a suspicion that they wanted to weaken the Adventurers Guild with this request.” Alexandro pursed his lips, “I’m not going to hide it from you; the Adventurers Guild and Sylphid City’s government had this rivalry for a long time. But this time, their movements were strange even for me.” Then Alexandro pointed his finger at Eru, “And that’s where you come in” he smiled.
Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “Me!?” he pointed at himself. Alexandro nodded, “Yes, you. Since you recently just arrived, they don’t know that we have additional manpower now. Thanks to that, we can afford to send you for this along with a few of our additional adventures. A team of two 3rd Grade Aura Master should be enough to satisfy the army’s request.” Alexandro clasped his hands, “Be advised, though. Cina, here will judge your actions and will relay them to me, and—” Alexandro paused.
Alexandro slightly bowed towards Eru, “Please save my wife”, he pleaded. Eru’s eyes squinted after hearing Alexandro. He furrowed his eyebrows and was about to ask what Alexandro meant when suddenly something popped in his head.
*DING*
Mission activated. Alexandro, Sylphid City’s adventurers’ guild master, had given you a task to save his wife. Please save Syndra along with Helga, the woman that was close to becoming an Archmage and change their future.
Quest reward: 100 Fate Points
Quest Penalty: four weeks of paralyzes and the death of Syndra and Helga
*DING*
Eru held his words as he gulped, ‘100 Fate Points? Damn, this is going to be hard,’ Eru thought in his head. Eru inwardly shook his head, “Your wife? What do you mean?” he asked. Just as Alexandro was about to explain, Cina answered first, “The guild master’s wife, Syndra, is the commander of Sylphid City’s army.” Alexandro nodded weakly, “Yes, and my wife was tasked to patrol the area around Sylphid Academy. And now, she requested reinforcements for the army, and yet, they refused her simply because I’m the leader of the opposite faction”, Alexandro said with helplessness.
“I suspect that there is a large conspiracy involved in this. That’s why I can’t afford to split my manpower right now”, Alexandro said with a serious tone. “Of course, you can refuse if you want to. I’ll find another mission for your pilgrimage.” Sydney looked at Eru while Cina just stood stoically beside Eru. “So, how about it? Will you go?” Alexandro asked with his hands clasped together. Eru rubbed his chin, pondering for a minute before nodding, “When do I start?”

Back at Sylphid Academy, the atmosphere inside was harrowing. The students were all nervous, and only a select few were calm and composed. The armoured woman and her squad of soldiers were resting inside the cafeteria, being fed by the academy’s kitchen staff while the injured soldiers were being healed by the academy’s healer. As the armoured woman was recuperating, a few students dressed in Sylphid Academy’s uniform approached her. The leader of the pack was a young man of average height. Although that’s the case, the young man excluded a leadership and mature aura that made people want to rely on him.
The young man stood a couple of inches taller than the armoured woman. His serious looks coupled with a neatly combed-back slicked dark-brown hair amplified the young man’s awe-inspiring aura. The armoured woman glanced slightly at the pack of students, “What do you guys want?” she inquired. The young man put his right hand on his left chest before bowing slightly towards the armoured woman, “Greetings, commander Syndra. My name is Julian Albert. I represented my fellow classmates to appear before you today because we would like to join you defending our academy”, the young man, Julian Albert said politely with proper noble etiquette.
“Huh?” The armoured woman raised her eyebrow, “Really? You would like to join us?” Julian Albert, along with his classmates behind him, all nodded their heads. “Hah”, the armoured woman scoffed, “Tell me, what help could you provide us with? From what I’ve seen, only you and a couple others behind you that could barely qualify to march to the battlefield. That is when we opted for your combat experiences. You kids are all still wet behind the ears.” After hearing the armoured woman’s words, many students behind Julian Albert were either afraid or offended.
Not Julian Albert, though; he was still looking calm and composed like he always did. Julian Albert nodded, “We knew that in terms of combat experiences or combat prowess, we can’t match you guys. Heck, we’re vastly outmatched by your squad, commander Syndra. But that will not stop us from doing what we should be doing, and that is to defend our academy”, Julian Albert argued. “Hooh”, the armoured woman was surprised after hearing what the young man before her had said. “What’s your name again, young man?” she inquired.
“I’m Julian Albert, ma’am”, he answered with eyes full of determination. The armoured woman nodded in satisfaction, “Good. I like your eyes and your answer. You’ll make it far if you keep this up. Now, tell me about you and your classmates’ abilities”, the armoured woman said before Julian Albert narrated the capabilities of him and his classmates. “And that’s about it”, Julian Albert ended his explanation. “Hmm”, the armoured woman pondered while rubbing her chin, “In short, you are a 2nd Circle Mage that specialized in wind elements. Only two among your classmates were mages, and only one of your classmates is an aura master?”
Julian Albert nodded. “Okay, I have something in mind for you guys”, the armoured woman said with a smile. However, suddenly tremors could be felt by the armoured woman and the people inside the barrier. They could hear the pounding from the monstrous creatures begin to intensify, and Sylphid Academy’s building began to crumble down from the impact.
The armoured woman frowned, “Has the monstrous creatures’ reinforcements arrived already? Shit!” she cursed, “Where are our reinforcements? Damn it!” she pursed her lips. “All available men, assemble on the entrance”, the armoured woman ordered. “What about us?” Julian Albert asked. “You come too”, the armoured woman said, “And only bring those three that I said earlier. The rest of you could help by staying safe within the building.”
Julian Albert and his classmates’ postures perked up as they saluted, “Yes, ma’am!”
