Chapter 165: Chapter 165
“Thank you very much for your help”, The armoured woman bowed her head slightly, her words filled with sincerity. Eru nodded, “Your welcome”, he replied with a smile. The armoured woman raised her head, “I take it you’re from the Adventurers Guild?” she inquired.
“Yes”, Eru replied. The armoured woman rubbed her chin, “Strange. I have never seen you before. Are you new?” Eru shook his head, “I’m not part of Sylphid City’s Adventurers Guild if that what you’re asking” Eru explained, “I’m an adventurer, yes, but I don’t belong in Sylphid’s branch.” After that, Eru took out something from his pocket. “What’s that?” the armoured woman’s eyes squinted as she looked at the envelope in Eru’s hand. “Take it”, Eru extended his hand, giving the envelope to the armoured woman, “It’s from the guild master. I presume you are Syndra, yes?”
The armoured woman received the envelope from Eru, “I am, yes.” While opening the letter slowly, the armoured woman looked at Eru, “I assume Alexandro told you about me?” Eru nodded, “Yup.” The armoured woman sighed, “I hope he did not tell you only bad things about me.” Eru smiled while shaking his head, “Actually, he seemed to worry about you a lot.” The armoured woman pursed her lips, “I know. He’s such a worrywart.” The armoured woman finally opened up the complicated envelope in her hands before taking out a paper that contained Alexandro, the guild master’s writing.
The armoured woman took her time reading her husband handwriting, and not long after, her face turned grim. The armoured woman raised her head and stared at Eru intensely, “Are this all true?” she asked. “What is?” Eru replied while frowning. “What my husband wrote in this letter, are these all true?” The armoured woman showed the letter to Eru, in which he skimmed past it quickly. What Eru read was consistent with what Alexandro had told him before he departed, except with the ‘love you’ part at the end. Eru nodded his head, “Yes, it’s all true. He said it to me himself before I came here that the mayor had been planning something.”
The armoured woman furrowed her eyebrows, “If that’s so, then we need to hurry back.” Eru shook his head, “No”, Eru shook his head, “The guild master told me not to come back until the entire matter with Sylphid Academy was done. He suspected that the attack on the academy and what the mayor was planning is connected somehow.” The armoured woman gritted her teeth, “That’s all the more reason we need to go back.” Eru sighed, “Look, I know you are worried for your husband, and I get it; you’re the army commander of Sylphid City. But, your husband, the adventurer’s guild master, had a plan. Why don’t you trust your husband more and read the next letter in the envelope?”
“The next letter?” The armoured woman squinted her eyes. She double-checked the envelope and found nothing in it, “There’s nothing in here.” Eru let out a small laugh, “Let me” then, he took out a small crystal and put it in the envelope. After that, the envelope glowed brightly for a second before the light disappeared. Then, words began to appear on the envelope, shocking the armoured woman. The armoured woman scrutinized the words carefully before gasping. Eru sombrely looked at the armoured woman, “After reading that, what will you do?” The armoured woman’s entire body trembled, “We go back to the academy for now”, she said, her fist clenched as blood dripped from her hand.

As the armoured woman led Eru and his party back to Sylphid Academy, the old lady that stood on top of the academy’s roof all this time crossed her arms. With a slight wave from her hand, the old lady disappeared from her spot and reappeared right in front of Sylphid Academy’s entrance. When the armoured woman and Eru, along with his party was near the academy, the old lady clapped her hands. “Congratulations, brat. You manage to return alive”, the old lady let out a playful smirked towards the armoured woman. The armoured woman snickered, “You’re not getting rid of me that easy, old hag”, she quipped.
The old lady chuckled before shifting her gaze towards Eru and his party. The old lady slightly bowed her head, “Thank you very much for saving Sylphid Academy”, she said with sincerity. Sydney, Cina and the rest of the adventurers felt honoured when the old lady thanked them personally. After all, the old lady was someone that was close to becoming an archmage. However, to Eru and Long, the pressure emitted from the old lady was so immense that their instinct told them to be careful and be wary.
Upon observing Eru and his party, the old lady’s eyes lit up when she saw Eru and Long. ‘A talented one,’ the old lady thought when she watched Eru, ‘As expected from one of his children. Come to think of it, all of his children turned out to be little monsters on their own,’ the old lady pondered while rubbing her chin. But, when the old lady’s eyes shifted towards Long, her eyes opened wide when she saw a familiar yet distant feeling Long gave her. ‘Oh my goodness me, a red dragon!’ she exclaimed in her mind.
Although the old lady was surprised inside, she did not show any shocked expression on her face. The old lady flashed a smile at the nervous Eru and Long, “What’s wrong, you two? Are you tired? Would you like some rest?” the old lady offered with a gentle tone. Eru and Long quickly shook their heads, “No, thank you”, Eru answered, “We’re fine, right, Long?” Long nodded, “Yes, we are fine”, he replied quickly. The old lady nodded before turning her head towards the armoured woman. “So, what’s your plan now?” the old lady furrowed her eyebrows.
The armoured woman shook her head, “Not here”, she whispered, “Let’s talk in your office.” The old lady frowned, “That bad, huh?” she inquired. The armoured woman did not answer with words. Instead, all she did was just nod at the old lady inquiries. After that, the old lady shifted her gaze into Julian Albert and his fellow students, “Well done to you four”, she praised, “Thanks to your bravery and effort, you managed to repel the invaders that seek to destroy our precious academy.” Julian Albert and his fellow students put their hands on their chest, “For the glory of Sylphid Academy!” they said in unison. The old lady nodded, “Now, go ahead and rest up. You four done enough for the academy.”
After that, Julian Albert and his fellow classmates bid farewell to the armoured woman and her soldiers. Then, the old lady looked at the armoured woman, “Order your men to rest up and come up to my office”, the old lady said before walking inside the academy. The armoured woman turned towards Eru, “Come this way, I’ll lead you all to a quarter where everyone can rest.” Eru and the others followed the armoured woman to an empty dormitory. After settling the rest of the adventurers, the armoured woman approached Eru, “Please follow me to the principal’s office”, the armoured woman said, “We need to talk.”

The armoured woman brought Eru to the old lady’s office right on the top floor of Sylphid Academy. “I’ve brought the adventurers in charge, old hag”, the armoured woman said while barging right into the old lady’s office. Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “Since when did I become the adventurers in charge?” he muttered softly. Unfortunately for Eru, though, the armoured woman had a keen hearing, and she could hear what Eru had muttered. “Eh, so you’re not in charge?” Eru shook his head, “Nope. The one that is technically in charge of this operation is the red-haired adventurers.”
After Eru had said that, a burst of soft laughter could be heard from within the old lady’s office. “Hahaha, jumping the gun as always, eh, Syndra?” the old woman quipped sarcastically. The armoured woman’s cheek turned red, “S-shut up, old hag”, the armoured woman replied bashfully, “I just thought that since he’s the one that brought the letter to me, so I just assume that he’s in charge.” The old lady nodded, “Well, your thoughts are not wrong, actually. I received a message earlier from the Adventurers Guild, explaining to me what might be going on in Sylphid City.”
The armoured woman’s eyes opened up wide in surprise, “The Adventurers Guild? Alexandro get in contact with you?” The old lady nodded, “Yes, he did. While you were fighting the horde of monstrous creatures, Alexandro contacted me through a magic crystal and pretty much told me everything that he knew and his plans” the old lady pointed her finger towards Eru, “And his plans, heavily included this kid.” Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “Me!?” The old lady nodded, “Yes, you. You are quite important in this plan. So important in fact that if we were to lose you, we are doomed to fail.”
