Reincarnator’s Adventures – Chapter 167

Chapter 167

Chapter 167: Chapter 167

While the old lady was debriefing Eru and the armoured woman on Sylphid City’s Adventurers Guild’s plan, the guild master himself, Alexandro, sat in his office, holding a carbonated drink in his hand. Alexandro leaned on his chair as he sipped the carbonated drink slowly. With a single slurped, the carbonated drink in Alexandro’s hand was instantly finished by him. “Ah, now that’s the one”, Alexandro wiped the remaining liquid on his mouth. Just as Alexandro prepared to relax even more in his office, suddenly, the sound of someone running through the hallway could be heard from inside his office.

“Hah, hah, hah, hah”, a generic-looking adventurer rushed towards the guild master’s office before barging the office’s door. Alexandro quickly straightened himself when the generic-looking adventurer opened his office’s door. “What happened?” Alexandro furrowed his eyebrows when he saw a panting adventurer with a panic expression on his face. “Hah, hah, hah, bad news, guild master. May sent a distress signal earlier before a strange letter arrived at the receptionist’s desk”, The generic-looking adventurer explained before quickly placing a letter on Alexandro’s desk.

Alexandro picked up the letter and unwrapped it carefully.

“T-this is”, Alexandro’s hands trembled when he read the content of the letters. “What is it, guild master?” the generic-looking adventurer tilted his head. Alexandro’s lips curled up and formed a massive grin on his face, “T-this is good news, no, this is great news!” Alexandro let out a laugh. Then, Alexandro stared at the generic-looking adventurers, “Bring all available adventurers to the training hall”, he barked, “And don’t forget to drag the vice-guild master as well. Use force if you have to. Now!” The generic-looking adventurers straightened his body before putting his hand on his chest, “Yes, sir!” As Alexandro watched the generic-adventures leave, he crumpled the letter in his hand, “Finally, finally, this is our big break.”

After a while, the generic-looking adventurer finally managed to track down all available adventurers into the training hall. Alexandro stood on higher ground, accompanied by a long-haired man with a face that could only be described as beautiful. If one looked from just the appearance, this long-haired man could easily be mistaken as a woman. “Haah”, the long-haired man sighed while scratching the back of his head, “Why are you bringing me here, eh, Alexandro?” Alexandro turned towards the long-haired man with a grin, “I’ve found a breakthrough, Koil.” The long-haired man, Koil, shook his head, “Breakthrough?” he furrowed his eyebrows, then he looked at the gathering crowd of adventurers before sighing, “Couldn’t you tell me by another means, for example, by communication crystal?”

“No”, Alexandro quickly rebutted Koil, the long-haired man, “Do you think I did not know that if I called you by communication crystal, you would reject me straight away?”  Koil’s lips twitched, “How would you know?” Alexandro let out a sigh, “Just shut up and look nice. I’ll tell you more about it once I announce this to the adventurers.” Koil could only relent to Alexandro as he stood beside the guild master with a professional smile. Alexandro and Koil waited on top of the stage for the adventurers to gather up.

After a while, the generic-looking adventurer approached Alexandro and leaned in, “Everyone is here, guild master”, he whispered. Alexandro smiled, “Good job”, he replied with a smile. The generic-looking adventurer nodded before he left the stage quietly. Then, Alexandro scanned the entire training hall before nodding, “Good, you are all here”, Alexandro said while stroking his goatee. Then, Alexandro walked forward a few steps with his hands behind his back, “As you might all know, we had butted heads with the government in the past, and we would always lose out.”

Alexandro slightly raised his head, “And you might notice that I let go most that made us lose out scot-free. In fact, many of you here were the victim of my negligence, and for that, I’m sorry” he bowed ninety degrees. The atmosphere in the training hall got sombre after the guild master uttered his apology. After that, Alexandro raised his head and continued his speech, “But, no more”, he loudly spoke, “We will not bow down to the corrupt government no more. I will speak the truth to you all; one of the reasons why I’m willing to look the other way was because they took my wife hostage.”

Alexandro continued, “It’s not just that, the corrupt government control the majority of Sylphid City, and they slowly encroached their influence inside the Adventurers Guild too, as you can see with Dedi. Unfortunately, I don’t have the power to stop and prevent him from doing as he pleased in the Adventurers Guild. But one day, something changed. An array of situations happened and caused me to see an opportunity. First, the higher up in the army, one that disliked my wife so much because she is a commander despite being a woman, finally could not hold himself back and sent her away on a suicide, staged mission”, he paused for a while.

Alexandro took a deep breath before continuing, “I was worried at first and even volunteered myself to go on her mission. But, the stubbornness of my wife far exceeded me, and she departed anyway. It appeared that hope was all lost for me. Then, a variable that I, no we, not counted about arrived at Sylphid City.” All the adventurers that gathered in the training hall had a look of understanding on their faces.

Alexandro saw this and nodded, “Yes, as you might already guess, a young man with raven-coloured hair one day arrived at the Adventurers Guild and managed to defeat Dedi in a one on one fight. And because of that single act alone, he managed to change the long status quo that we had been having for so long. The day after that, the mayor showed weakness after his son had his arm cut off by sending assassins to go after Eru’s life”, Alexandro explained. He continued, “However, with just that alone, we wouldn’t be having a meeting right now at this place.”

Alexandro then let out a massive grin on his face, “That moustache-twirling bastard actually thoughts that I was still at his influence without looking for his weakness. What a dumbass, huh?” After saying that, Alexandro quickly shook his head because of the stare he received from the adventurers, “*Cough, cough*, where am I? Oh right, I’m talking about Eru. Last night, six assassins were sent to kill him. Fortunately for Eru, he was inside of the D/D Mansion when the six assassins attacked him.” Then, Alexandro took out something from his pocket, “This was found inside of one of the assassins pockets.”

Alexandro showed the adventurers badge towards the adventurers, “An adventurers badge. That damn mayor wanted was planning ahead in case the assassins failed and they were caught by the army; they could blame it on us.” Then, Alexandro’s lips curled up into a smile, “Fortunately for us, the D/D party did not trust the government and asked us for help instead. Because of that, we had one more ally in our back. That’s not all; the head of the D/D Group was pissed because of this. You all here knew how powerful the D/D Group was, right? This time, that moustache-twirling bastard really stepped on a bee’s nest.”

Alexandro heaved a sigh before smiling, “Then, this morning, I received a letter from someone unexpected. Someone that before this was our enemy”, he said as he showed a letter from his pocket. “With this letter in my hands, we will drive those corrupted government from our beloved Sylphid City and avenged those they wronged!” Alexandro shouted with passion, which was by the adventurers with a similar tone in their voices.

After all of that happened, Alexandro sat in his office, holding a glass of carbonated drink, facing the beautiful, long-haired man, Koil, in front of him. The long-haired man stared at Alexandro with a suspicious glare, “Why did you end your speech short? It’s unlike you, Xandro”, he asked. Alexandro sipped his carbonated drink before smirking at the long-haired man, “You don’t know? I thought you were the smarter one”, he grinned. The tip of the long-haired man’s eyes twitched a little, “Just tell me already. Don’t be annoying.”

Alexandro waved his hand, “Yeah, yeah, Mr Grumpy” he leaned back to his chair, “Take a look”, he tossed the letter to the long-haired man. “This is—” the long-haired man slowly opened up the letter. Alexandro observed the long-haired man in front of him with a gleeful smile. The long-haired man read the letters slowly before suddenly his body shot up, standing, “Are these really the truth!?” the long-haired man slammed the guild master’s desk with his hands, staring at Alexandro’s eyes intensely. Alexandro chuckled a little, “Yes, it’s all true. After all, they came from a reliable source.”

The long-haired man took a heavy breath before slowly sitting back. He rubbed his chin in wonder as he slightly closed his eyes, “If this is all true, what are we waiting for? Let’s strike now when the iron is hot.” Alexandro shook his head, “I’m waiting.” The long-haired man squinted his eyes, “For what?” Alexandro waved his hand, “Patience, my friend. Before, you asked me why I’m ending my speech early, right?” The long-haired man nodded, “Yes, and?” Alexandro let out a devilish smirk, “Let’s just say that the reason I’m waiting is the same as why I ended my speech early.”
