Chapter 169: Chapter 169
Eru parted ways with the armoured woman before heading to his own quarters provided by Sylphid Academy. Eru observed his rooms before nodding, “This looks good for a student dorm”, he mumbled. Then, Eru laid his body down on the bed, “Haaah”, he sighed, “Things just get more complicated by the minute. I know I said I wanted an adventure, but I did not realize it came with this much trouble.”
Then, Eru turned his body around, facing towards the ceiling; he rested his hands behind his head, “However, for some reason, I kind of like it” Eru smiled, “It’s fun. I get to meet new people, make new friends and see the world as it is. Thank you to whoever gave this new chance for me.”
Just as Eru was pondering his life so far, he could hear someone knocking on his door gently. “Teacher”, a woman’s voice could be heard from beyond the door, “Can I come in?” she asked. Eru quickly stood up and sat on a chair nearby before nodding, “Sure, come in. It’s not locked”, he said. “Alright, coming in”, a familiar dark-skinned woman opened the door, revealing her full figure. “What is it, Sydney?” Eru asked while raising his eyebrows. “How are you, teacher?” Sydney inquired, “Good, I hope?”
Eru sighed; looking at the dark-skinned woman’s eyes, Eru could tell that Sydney wanted something. “What do you want?” Eru inquired. Sydney let out a small chuckle, “Um, teacher, can you please train me again?” Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “Train you?” Sydney nodded, “Yes. After looking at your prowess today, I realized that I’m still far too weak to be useful on the battlefield”, she said with a hint of frustration. “Hmm”, Eru crossed his arms, “But why should I?” Sydney flinched back, “Pardon?” Eru looked at Sydney, “Why should I? The last time I did was because of my payback. And now, tell me, why should I train you?”
“I-I”, Sydney was taken aback, stuttering in her words. Eru then suddenly laughed, “Just kidding”, he smirked, “Sure, I’ll train you.” Sydney’s expression brightened after hearing Eru’s words, “Really? Then let’s go right now”, she said excitedly. Then, Eru left his room with Sydney into the open field behind the academy. “Come, come, teacher. Hurry up”, Sydney said while rushing towards the open field. Eru looked at the excited Sydney and couldn’t help but shake his head, “That woman is way excited for training. And to think she’s older than me as well”, he muttered.
Once Sydney and Eru arrived at the open field, they met a woman with long blonde hair. She swung her sword up and down as sweat dripped down from her face. The moon behind her shone a light at the woman, making her face look even more beautiful. The blonde-haired woman looked at Sydney and Eru, “Why are you here?” she furrowed her eyebrows. “You’re that—” Sydney pointed her finger towards the blonde-haired woman.
“The guild master’s wife”, Eru interjected. The blonde-haired woman’s eyes twitched, “I have a name too, you know” she shook her head. Then, the blonde-haired woman approached Eru and extended her hand, “I don’t think we are properly introduced yet. My name is Syndra, commander of the 17th battalion of Sylphid City’s army. Nice to meet you”, she said with a smile. Eru shook her hands and nodded, “Nice to meet you, too. I’m Eru, an adventurer in pilgrimage.” The blonde-haired woman smile changed to shock when she heard what Eru had just said.
“C-can you say that again?” Syndra’s mouth opened wide, and the tip of her lips twitched a little. Eru slightly tilted his head, “My name is Eru, and I’m an adventurer in pilgrimage.” After saying that, Eru saw that the blonde-haired woman’s mouth opened up even wider. “Is there something wrong?” Eru squinted his eyes. Syndra quickly shook her head, “No, no, I’m just surprised, that’s all”, she flutteringly said. Eru stared at the blonde-haired woman, “You get surprised easily, huh?” he said with a small grin. “S-shut up”, the blonde-haired woman rebuked, “You’re the one that’s not normal.”
The blonde-haired woman continued, “A 3rd Grade Aura Master who looks barely twenty, won the Aeolus` GFT at such a young age and on top of that, a future S rank adventurers? Now, who wouldn’t be surprised when they heard your accomplishments” she pursed her lips. Sydney nodded in agreement, “That’s right, that’s right. My teacher is amazing, right?” The blonde-haired woman stared at Sydney, then her gaze landed on Eru, “She’s your disciple?” she asked. Sydney was about to nod, but Eru interrupted her, “Not yet, I just casually teach her”, Eru said.
Sydney was about to sulk, but then realization dawned on her as she digested Eru’s words, turning her expression into extreme glee. Sydney jumped at Eru, hugging him, “Thank you, teacher.” Eru pushed Sydney’s back, “Go away, you’re suffocating me,” he said as he pried Sydney away. The blonde-haired woman sighed, “By the way, what are you two doing here at this time?” Sydney puffed her chest, “We’re going to train, my teacher and I.” Eru smacked Sydney in the head, “Don’t get too carried away.” The blonde-haired woman stared at Eru and Sydney for a while before opening her mouth, “Can I join you guys?”
Eru rubbed his chin, pondering for a second before nodding, “Sure. I want to see what a spellsword is capable of.” The blonde-haired woman smiled, “Oh, so you want to spar?” Eru shook his head, “Maybe not with me, no. But with her,” Eru pointed at Sydney. “What? Me!?” Sydney pointed to herself, “No, no, no. I’m no match for her, teacher.” The blonde-haired woman also looked at Eru with dissatisfied glared, ‘Like she said. She’s not my opponent.” Eru let out a small grin, “I know, but help me out a little bit, will you? This woman needed the experience of fighting opponents way stronger than her.”
“But, teacher”, Sydney pouted, “I’ve been fighting someone stronger than me for my whole life.” Eru raised his eyebrows, “Oh, yeah? Who?” he asked. “My father”, Sydney replied, “I’ve been sparring with my father the whole time ever since I could hold my blade.” Eru shook his head, “Your father did not count. He’s family, so how can he fight you with his all? Especially concerning that personality of your father.” Then, Eru shifted his gaze at the blonde-haired woman, “Let us make a deal then. If you help me in sparring with her”, Eru pointed at Sydney, “I’ll spar against you anytime you want, how about that?”
The blonde-haired woman furrowed her eyebrows, “You’re putting yourself on a high pedestal. Why would I want to spar against you?” Eru let out a grin, “Hah, you might speak those words, but I can see it from your eyes earlier. Your eyes were glistening with fighting spirit”, he provoked. The blonde-haired woman couldn’t hold her lips from curling up, “Fine, I’ll help spar with your pupil but spar with me after that.” Eru smirked, “Sure”, then he looked at Sydney, “Prepare yourself, Sydney. You’re coming up next.”
Sydney stood facing the blonde-haired woman before unsheathing her blade. Coating her blade with her golden-coloured aura, she pointed it at Syndra, “I’m ready.” The blonde-haired woman likewise took out her sword from its scabbard, wiping her sword with her fingers before her sword shone bright, “Come.” Sydney let out a battle cry before launching herself at the blonde-haired woman with everything that she got.

A red-haired woman could be seen sitting casually inside a messy bedroom while drinking a bottle of alcohol. Then, a crystal ball on the table in front of her shone, vibrating, shaking the cheap-looking table. The red-haired woman threw the bottle of alcohol from her hand away to the wall before taking the crystal ball in her hand. After that, the crystal ball shines even brighter before revealing an enchanting figure to the red-haired woman. The red-haired woman quickly got on her knees, “Lady Da Ji”, she lowered her head. The figure inside the crystal ball, Da Ji, looked around at the messy room before sighing, “You haven’t changed at all, Zhu Rong.”
The red-haired woman, Zhu Rong, let out an exasperated smile, “Please don’t judge me, Lady Da Ji.” Da Ji chuckled, “Right, right, raise your head” Da Ji put her arms on her hips, “So, how’s progress? Did you attack Sylphid Academy yet?” Zhu Rong raised her head, looking directly at Da Ji’s projection; she nodded, “I did, but the base was found ahead of time by accident, my lady.” Da Ji put her hand on her chin, “If they found it, they found it. So, how’s the attack going? Is the academy destroyed yet?” The red-haired woman shook her head, “Unfortunately not, my lady. Some pesky women from the army, along with reinforcements from the Adventurers Guild, intervene.”
“That’s unfortunate indeed”, Da Ji said. She continued, “Oh well, we can’t do anything about it. Our trump card is still intact, right?” The red-haired woman nodded, “Yes, it is. I did not send it to attack the academy before.” Da Ji nodded, “Good. Make sure you kept pilling pressure towards the academy lest they interfere in our plans back at Sylphid City.” The red-haired woman nodded, “As you wish, my lady.” Da Ji nodded with satisfaction, “Oh, and be careful of Zemel.” The red-haired woman squinted her eyes, “Zemel? What’s wrong with him?”
Da Ji’s expression turned serious, “He betrayed us and left the organization. If you saw Zemel, kill him on the spot.”
