A few minutes later, after Eru and Long defeat the giant plant-like monstrous creature, they combed the entire area, struggling to find the exit. “Where the hell is this exit?” Long grunted while swinging around his iconic red staff. Eru sighed, “Maybe we should rest a little”, he suggested. “Hmm, good idea, brother Eru. Since we already defeated the boss of this room, we should be safe for a little while”, Long said with a smile. Eru then cut off a tree in half, and using his skills and dexterity, he carved out two logs for sitting. After that, Eru brandished his black sword, cutting tree branches to be used as a campfire.
“Ooh, you are handy as ever, brother Eru”, Long praised before sitting down on one of the logs. “Took out the rations you packed earlier, Long. We are going to cook it now,” Eru said while taking out some rock salt from his pocket. “Sure”, Long took out a couple of packed meat he was given earlier in Sylphid Academy from his pouch. Eru began to prepare the meat by skewering the meat with the neatly prepared sticks from the tree branches nearby. Eru poured the rock salt he had to the skewed meat thoroughly before cooking them on the campfire.
As the meat cooked, Eru and Long could smell the delicious aroma coming from the meat skewers. “Smells good”, Long salivated when looking at the meat skewers that were being cooked. “I agree”, Eru nodded, “Meat plus salt are all we need.” Just as the aroma from the meat skewers filled the whole entire floor, the giant plant-like monstrous creature’s body shook. Then, suddenly, a loud bang could be heard from below the giant plant-like monstrous creature’s body, and another monstrous creature emerged from within it. The monstrous creature that emerged turned out to be a humanoid one; however, its body was decaying and foul stance, looking quite ghoulish.
The ghoulish monstrous creature roared loudly. Its loud roar plus its foul stance managed to attract Eru and Long’s attention. Long furrowed his eyebrows, “What the hell is that!?” he exclaimed. “Undead”, Eru squinted his eyes; he muttered with a sombre tone as he and Long watched the ghoulish monstrous creature approach Eru and Long swiftly on all fours. “Prepare yourself!” Eru shouted while unsheathing his black sword from its scabbard. Long too, brandished his red staff, holding it tightly with both of his hands. The ghoulish monstrous creature went after Eru first, pouncing on him with its sharp, nasty claws.
“Why me!?” Eru quipped as he blocked the attack from the ghoulish monstrous creature. The ghoulish monstrous creature relentlessly attacks Eru, pushing him back. The ghoulish monstrous creature did not let up its attacks on Eru even one bit, delivering punch after punch consecutively, without any opening. “What the hell is with this guy?” Eru groaned, “Can you stop using such concise attacks on me? Leave an opening, damn it!” Eru complained while fending the ghoulish monstrous creature’s attacks.
The ghoulish monstrous creature kept relentlessly attacking Eru until eventually, Eru got fed up with it. “I’m sick of this”, Eru said, tugging both of his legs, “Go away!” Eru shouted as he kicked the ghoulish monstrous creature with both of his legs to its torso, sending the ghoulish monstrous creature away from him. The ghoulish monstrous creature flipped its body in midair before landing in all four on the ground. “Grr”, the ghoulish monstrous creature growled, its eyes filled with fury as the ghoulish monstrous creature arched its back. “You want my help, brother Eru?” Long offered. Eru shook his head, “No, thanks. I’ll deal with this bastard on my own.”
Long shrugged his shoulders, “Sure. I’ll continue eating then. Don’t worry, I’ll save some of the meat for you.” Eru smirked, “You better. I’ll kill you if you don’t”, Eru said while brandishing his black sword towards the advancing ghoulish monstrous creatures. “Oh, and do me a favour, brother Eru, please fight far away from here. That guy smells fucking disgusting”, Long said while cooking a meat skewer. Eru clicked his tongue, “You and your demands” he shook his head as his black sword connected with the ghoulish monstrous creature’s claws. “You heard the man, away you go!” Eru said, putting more power into his swing; he sent the ghoulish monstrous creature flying far away.
Eru crouched down, putting strength on both of his legs; he jumped. Eru jumped so high flying parallel with the ghoulish monstrous creature before sending a kick which sent the ghoulish monstrous creature crashing down to the ground. After that, Eru pointed his black sword towards the monstrous creature as he dived down with momentum. The ghoulish monstrous creature quickly recovered, however, and sensing danger from Eru, the ghoulish monstrous creature swiftly dodged to the side. Eru landed on the ground, causing a small crater from the impact before he immediately brandished his black sword towards the ghoulish monstrous creature.
The ghoulish monstrous creature roared; it too brandished its claws against Eru’s black sword. The two clashed blow for blow as the ghoulish monstrous creature’s claws managed to hold Eru’s black sword back. “You know, Buddy, I think you might be losing your edge”, Eru muttered softly to Buddy, his black sword. The black sword in Eru’s hand vibrated with displeasure after hearing its owner’s words. Feeling challenged by Eru’s words, the black sword, Buddy, seemed to shine brighter. After Buddy shone brighter, Eru had an easier time dealing with the ghoulish monstrous creature’s attacks.
Eru let out a small chuckled while parrying the ghoulish monstrous creature’s attacks, “Why don’t you do this from earlier? Thanks, Buddy.” The black sword in Eru’s hand replied happily by buzzing around. The ghoulish monstrous creature growled; it used its sharp claws to strike at Eru. “You bore me”, Eru said while wiping away the ghoulish monstrous creature’s claws, “Die!” Eru slashed vertically using Buddy, cleaving the ghoulish monstrous creature in two. After that, Eru looked down at the now-dead ghoulish monstrous creature, “You undead will rise again if I did not deal with you properly”, he muttered before flaring up his aura. Then, Eru let out an energy blast, pulverizing the body of the ghoulish monstrous creature.

While Eru was dealing with the ghoulish monstrous creature, Long was happily eating the meat skewers in his hand. However, suddenly Long’s hand shook violently as he dropped the meat skewers in his hand. Long furrowed his eyebrows, “The recovery took longer than I thought. What is wrong with my body? This never happened before”, he muttered softly while picking the meat skewers back from the ground. As soon as Long picked up his meat skewer, Eru arrived in front of Long after quickly dispatching the ghoulish monstrous creature.
Long flashed a smile, “Is it done?” Eru nodded, “Yeah, that guy was a pushover. Its body was tough, though”, Eru said before sitting on a log and picking up a meat skewer for his own. Eru immediately munched on the meat skewer while looking at Long, “What’s wrong? Not going to eat?” Long sighed, “I am. I’m just tired, that’s all.” Eru furrowed his eyebrows; he scrutinized Long, “Is it the side effect?” Long nodded, “Yes, unfortunately”, he said while looking at his own, shaky hands. “Here”, Eru threw a green bottle to Long. “What is this?” Long asked while observing the green bottle. “Potion”, Eru said, “Try it. It will make the side effect a bit more manageable.” Long uncocked the green bottle before drinking it, “Thanks, brother Eru.”
Soon after, Long felt that his body had gotten better, and the shaking of his hands finally stopped. “Oh, you are right”, Long said to Eru, “The potion helps a lot.” Eru nodded, “You never felt this before?” Long shook his head, “No, never to this extent at least. Usually, I feel weak and vulnerable only when I transform for an extended period of time. Never did I feel this weak after transforming for such a short time”, he explained while munching on a meat skewer in his hand. “Hmm”, Eru pondered while rubbing his chin, “Anyway, you should rest up then.”
After that, Eru quickly built a temporary tent using woods and leaves from the vegetation nearby. “Go rest up. I’ll stand guard outside”, Eru said to Long. “But—” just as Long was about to reply, Eru retorted, “No but. If you don’t rest up, our strength will be cut down half. And if something came up that I would not be able to handle on my own, I would like you to be on your best.” Long squinted his eyes, looking at Eru before letting out a chuckle, “Okay, thank you, brother Eru.” Long get into the tent made of woods and leaves, laying his body, he quickly fell asleep.
Eru shook his head with a smile before lifting his black sword. “Long must have been really off to not notice you guys approaching in”, Eru muttered as he watched a lot of ghoulish monstrous creatures surrounding him. “Let’s do this quietly, right guys?” Eru smirked as he ran straight towards the horde of ghoulish monstrous creatures, “I’ll kill you all before he woke up!”
