Chapter 230: Chapter 230
Half a day passed, and Eru finally woke up after he took a long, twelve-hour sleep. “Hah, that felt good”, Eru stretched his body on the bed. “And nice to finally not dream about my past life for once”, Eru sighed. “Maybe I need to fully exhaust myself until my brain cannot generate nightmares in my sleep”, Eru softly muttered. “Generate nightmares? You had nightmares, Fate Master?” a sudden female voice resounded inside Eru’s bedroom, startling Eru, making him jump a little. “Who’s there?” Eru barked. “Relax, Fate Master. It is just me”, a beautiful woman with silver hair greeted Eru while she sat beside the window, casually sipping tea.
“It’s you? Why are you here?” Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “Don’t you know it is rude to enter someone’s room while they are sleeping?” The silver-haired woman smiled slightly, “I thought guys like these kinds of things where a beautiful woman like me visited their rooms.” Eru shrugged his shoulders, “Yeah, if they are a weird horndog. Not me, though. Get out!” he said with a stern tone. The silver-haired woman ignored Eru, and she continued to sip her tea slowly. “Don’t ignore me”, Eru squinted his eyes. “Relax a little, will you?” the silver-haired woman said with a warm smile. Then, she turned her head outside, “Do you see the moon outside? Isn’t it beautiful? A full moon before the night of blood. Poetic, isn’t it?”
Eru frowned, “What do you want, Aelgh?” Eru asked. The silver-haired woman, Aelgh, who was Principal Helga’s true name, let out a small smirk, “Of course, to enjoy the full moon. And I want to talk to you about something.” Eru sighed before crossing his arms, “Talk about what?” Eru asked as he leaned his body on a nearby wall. “About the imbecile that called themselves the Demonic Cult”, Aelgh said, looking at Eru with a serious gaze and a flash of killing intent. Eru lowered his head with a smile, “Hooh, what a heavy killing intent. You hate them so much, huh?” Aelgh’s lips slightly curled up as she sipped her tea, “Of course. I won’t forget what they had done to me, no, to us.”
Although Aelgh said that with a smile, Eru could feel that the heavy killing intent from Aelgh earlier, was coming back again with her words. Eru smiled wryly before sitting beside the silver-haired woman, “You want to talk about it?” Aelgh looked at Eru strangely, “Of course. What do you think I came here in the first place? Are you an idiot?” Eru’s eyes twitched with annoyance, but before Eru could retort, the silver-haired woman continued, “All of this does concern you as well. Your duty and fate the moment you take on the mantle of Fate Master.” Eru’s eyes turned serious after hearing what Aelgh had said.
“What do you mean?” Eru inquired. “To answer your question, we need to go back to a couple hundred ago. Where me, my brothers and sisters, and my father were still a complete, happy family”, Aelgh said with a sad tone. “Your family?” Eru furrowed his eyebrows. “Yes. Back then, all of us were known as the Protectors. We worked with the Fate Masters to prevent the destruction of the world, to prevent deviation of fate”, Aelgh explained. “Hmm”, Eru rubbed his chin, “Wait, Fate Masters?” Aelgh nodded, “Yes. Back then, there were many Fate Masters roaming about the world. We, the Protectors and the Fate Masters were like a big family. Sure, we had our disagreements and fights, but we looked out for each other”, Aelgh said with a hint of reminiscent.
“What happened?”
Aelgh smiled sadly, “We found an anomaly from the world. A being born outside of Fate, known as the Fate Defier.”
“Fate Defier?”
“Yes”, Aelgh nodded, “Someone that can also use Fate Energy like the Fate Masters, but unlike the Fate Masters, they don’t have their restrictions. They are not bound by Fate, and they can freely shape their own destiny. But, there can only be one Fate Defier at a time. However, with such power came a tragedy.” Eru crossed his arms while leaning back into his chair, “Let me guess, that being created the Demonic Cult we knew today?” Aelgh shook her head, “The opposite, in fact”; she flashed a smile, “The first Fate Defier was an honourable man. He was a good man with a good heart. The first Fate Defier used his power to change the world for the better.”
“At first, we, the Protectors and the Fate Masters hunted him, afraid of what he could do with that power. However, he proved all of us wrong with his action and conviction. Eventually, after a long, difficult period of time, we accept the first Fate Defier and the following Fate Defier as long as they used their power for the betterment of life”, Aelgh added. She continued, “Of course, there is a rouge one here and there, but we worked with the Fate Masters and the Fate Defier at the time, but life was good. All of us existed in harmony, protecting the world from destruction and chaos. However, it all changed thanks to the action of a certain man.”
“A certain man?” Eru slightly tilted his head. “Yes. And he is the leader of the current Demonic Cult. The one that framed us as the Demons and decimated all of Fate Masters with his power alone. He gave all of us hell in any way possible”, Aelgh said with anger on her face. “Who is this man?” Eru furrowed his eyebrows. Aelgh took a deep breath, waiting for a while before opening her mouth, “A rogue Fate Master. Who, with the help of chaotic energy, broke free from his restriction and rampaged across the world. His goal is to destroy everything that ever existed. A powerful tyrant, he was a man known as—”
Before Aelgh managed to finish her sentence, she could feel her throat choaking. Aelgh stumbled down from her chair while clutching her throat in pain. Eru immediately stood up and grabbed Aelgh, “Hey, are you alright?” Aelgh took a deep breath, composing herself before shaking her head, “I’m sorry. It looks like I’m not allowed of saying his name to you”, Aelgh said, looking at Eru with a sad yet gentle smile. “Don’t worry about that”, Eru shook his head, “If what you said is true, he and I will meet eventually.” Aelgh gently touched Eru’s face, “Yes, yes, you will”, she said before closing her eyes.

“Deddy, how is your end?” a bob cut, a ginger-haired woman, asked while fending off one man cloaked in black. “I’m almost done”, Deddy, who brandished his axe at another man cloaked in black, cleaving him in two, replied. “Ah!” the bob cut, a ginger-haired woman screamed as she stumbled down. “May!” Deddy yelled in worry. Immediately after, he disappeared from his spot and reappeared before the man cloaked in black, “Die!” Deddy swung his axe horizontally, cleanly cleaving the man in a black cloak in two. “You okay?” Deddy extended a helping hand to May, the ginger-haired woman.
“I’m fine”, May flashed a gentle smile as she grabbed Deddy’s hand, “Did you find it?” Deddy nodded, “Yes, I did.” May’s eyes turned serious, “Then we need to hurry up. Only a matter of time before your father’s men will send their reinforcements.” Deddy then proceeded to grab May, holding her in a princess carry. “Ah”, May gasped. “Hold on”, he said before mobilizing his aura into his entire body. After that, Deddy jetted away from the place, quickly escaping. In order to avoid pursuers, Deddy circled around the area first before zig-zagging away. After that, Deddy circled around another area again before zig-zagging away.
Then, Deddy brought May into an abandoned house, “Let’s hurry up and change”, Deddy said while handing a brown cloak to May. “Right”, May nodded before quickly wearing the brown cloak, covering her head and face. Deddy wore her cloak too before exiting the abandoned house, looking around his surroundings. “Clear”, Deddy said to May, who was still inside the abandoned house. “Hmm”, May nodded as the two blended in with their surroundings. As the two walked the streets of Sylphid City, they watched as soldiers were busy searching. “Remember”, said one of the soldiers, “Our perpetrators are a pair of men and women. Search for everyone in a pair and don’t let those thieves get away!” he barked.
“Yes, captain!” said the soldiers in unison. After that, the soldiers separated from themselves, forming a pair with each other. “You hear what they said?” Deddy asked softly under his breath. “I did”, May nodded her head, “We better split off, then.” Deddy shook his head, “No, that is precisely what they wanted. Don’t you see the way the captain barked his order?” May furrowed her eyebrows, but a pair of soldiers went past them when she was about to reply. May lowered her head while holding her cloak down. The pair of soldiers went back and forth before leaving the area. “You see?” Deddy said, “They passed us without batting an eye, right?” May nodded in realization, “Oh, I see. The captain barked on purpose.”
“That’s right. Normal people’s reactions would’ve been the same as the one you proposed earlier. They would’ve split up, and it would be easy for the soldiers to find them”, Deddy explained. “Nice insight”, May praised. “Heh”, Deddy smiled wryly, “Actually, I’ve done those tactics countless times to capture innocents.” May lowered her head before patting Deddy on his back, “Don’t be so down. What matters is right now. You can make it better in the future”, May said with a bright smile. Deddy sighed, “Maybe you are right. Maybe you are right”, he softly muttered.
