Eru, Long, the armoured woman, Sydney and Meng Huo stood near the exit of the hall, facing a silver-haired female student in front of them. “Nice to meet you, everyone. My name is Aelgh, Principal Helga’s personal disciple. Pleased to be your acquaintances”, the silver-haired female student introduced herself with joyful energy. Eru’s eyes twitched when he looked at the silver-haired female student in front of him. Aelgh winked at Eru before chatting to the armoured woman. “What’s wrong, brother Eru? Anything bothering you?” Long, noticing Eru’s disturbed looks, asked.
“N-no, it’s nothing, nothing,” Eru replied. “Hmm”, Long scrutinized Eru, “Don’t tell me you are smitten by this Aelgh?” he asked. “No”, Eru blatantly denied, “There is nothing wrong.” Long shrugged his shoulders, “Okay.” Then, Long left the main hall alongside Meng Huo, the armoured woman and Aelgh. Eru let out an exasperated sigh, “What is that woman planning now?” he scratched the back of his head. As Eru followed behind Long, the armoured woman, Sydney, Meng Huo and Aelgh, he recalled his conversation with Meng Huo, Long, and Principal Helga the day before. “She did tell us that she was going to come personally. I did not expect that she would come with her real appearance”, Eru softly muttered.
After that, Eru walked outside of Sylphid Academy’s building with the armoured woman, Long, Meng Huo, Sydney and Aelgh. Once they arrived at the entrance, Eru and his party was met with Cinna, the blue-haired female soldier and the rest of the adventurers and the soldiers. Both of Sydney’s guardians were amongst the group, and even Julian Albert and the rest of the students and academy staff were there. Principal Helga was in front of the large group, with her left hand behind her back and her right hand holding a long, wooden staff. Principal Helga approached Eru and his party, “I, Principal Helga, would like to thank you for saving us on behalf of Sylphid Academy.”
Principal Helga bowed, followed by the students and academy staff. Then, Cinna, the adventurers and the soldiers all clapped their hands simultaneously. The armoured woman shook her head, “No, it is the effort from all of us that saved the academy.” Principal Helga let out a warm smile, “However, it is a fact that you here, alongside Amy behind me, are the core that made sure the enemy can’t attack us anymore. Based on that fact alone, you are everyone’s saviour.” The armoured woman nodded, “You are too kind, principal.”
After that, Principal Helga knocked her long, wooden staff to the ground, creating fireworks in the sky. After that, Principal Helga looked at Eru and his party once more before pointing her staff in the direction of Sylphid City, “Now, our crisis is not yet over. I, alongside the brave students and staff of Sylphid Academy, alongside the adventurers and the soldiers, will stay here and protect the academy if the enemy strikes again.” She continued, “We are forever grateful. Thank you.” After that, the students and the academy’s staff repeated Principal Helga’s words simultaneously, “Thank you.” Then, Principal Helga turned her body towards the adventurers and the soldiers, “Thank you”, she bowed once again.
Then, the students and the academy’s staff repeated Principal Helga’s actions and words, “Thank you”, they said in unison. The scene was so touching that a few of the adventurers and the armoured woman’s subordinate soldiers started to cry. The armoured woman smiled warmly, “Thank you for your kind words. Alas, the time has not been so kind to us. Since we don’t know when and if the enemy will strike Sylphid Academy again, only I and a few others will report back to the city.” After that, the armoured woman’s gaze landed on the adventurers, the soldiers and the students of Sylphid Academy, “I’m counting on you guys to keep the academy safe.”
The soldiers all saluted, “Yes, ma’am!” The adventurers followed, “You can count on us!” While the students all nodded with serious faces. Seeing this, the armoured woman smiled warmly, “Alright. We can leave here without worry, then” the armoured woman said. After that, the armoured woman waved her hand, saying goodbye before leaving the academy alongside Eru, Long, Meng Huo, Sydney and Aelgh. “Phew, that was intense”, Eru sighed while shaking his head. “You don’t have to tell me, teacher”, Sydney said, “All my life, I have never experienced such an amazing moment.”
Meng Huo smiled, “You’ll get used to it, miss Sydney. There were many moments like this back in the war. Especially when the king made his personal appearance or when General Simbad was leading the charge.” Sydney’s eyes sparkle, “Whoa, it must have been an amazing sight.” Meng Huo nodded, “It was a spectacular sight to behold.” The armoured woman listened with interest, “I would like to personally see what General Simbad was like when he was leading the charge.” Eru put his hands behind his head, “I can imagine. That old man is strong as hell. Even if I go all out, I am certain that he can defeat me with ease.”
Then, Meng Huo, Sydney, and the armoured woman all looked at Eru with bewildered eyes, “You’ve met Simbad!?” they exclaimed at the same time. Eru raised his eyebrows, “I did; why?” The armoured woman grabbed Eru’s arms, “When? What’s he like? How strong is he?” she launched a barrage of questions with sparkly eyes. Sydney, too, grabbed Eru from behind on his shoulders, “Tell us, teacher, tell us”, Sydney urged with brightened eyes. “Calm down, Syndra. Ask me one by one”, Eru said, flustered and overwhelmed. Watching this, Long smirked a little while Aelgh let out a small chuckle. “Is it always like this with them?” Aelgh asked Long.
Long scrutinized Aelgh thoroughly before crossing his arms, “Pretty much. Brother Eru is always the centre of attention no matter where he goes.” Aelgh let out a small smile, “Sounds like you’ve been with him a lot.” Long shook his head, “No, not really. But I can tell the moment I met him that brother Eru is special.” Aelgh raised one of her eyebrows, “Really? How?” Long squinted his eyes at the silver-haired female student beside him, “You don’t need to know”, Long scoffed before turning his attention back at Eru. After that brief intermission, Eru and his party continued their journey back toward Sylphid City.
“Phew, we are finally back”, Sydney smiled when looking at the familiar majestic arch of the entrance of Sylphid City. “This is where we part for a while”, Sydney turned to look at Eru and the others, “I’m going to report to master Duncan and my father about this situation.” Eru nodded, “Okay. Be careful.” The armoured woman crossed her arms, “See you later, Sydney.” After that, Sydney waved her hand in goodbye as she returned to the D/D Building on the east side of the main plaza. After Sydney left, the armoured woman looked at Eru, Long, Aelgh and Meng Huo, “Shall we head towards the Adventurers Guild?” the armoured woman said. Long raised his eyebrows, “You’re not returning to the army?”
The armoured woman shook her head, “No. The rest of my subordinates could take care of themselves.” Long shrugged his shoulders, “Suit yourself.” Then, the armoured woman led Eru, Long, Meng Huo and Aelgh toward the Adventurers Guild. Along the way, the armoured woman led Eru and the rest of the party, avoiding crowded paths and places so that they would not get recognized. The armoured woman raised her head, “Finally, we’re here”, she said while looking at the building in front of her. “Welcome”, a blonde-haired male receptionist greeted Eru and his party behind the table. “Oh my”, the blonde-haired male receptionist’s eyes squinted when he saw the armoured woman, “The guild master is going to be happy that you are safe and sound. Please go directly ahead to his office using the elevator nearby”, the blonde-haired male receptionist said.
“Thank you”, the armoured woman slightly bowed before approaching the elevator while glancing around her. “Hmm? What’s wrong?” Eru asked, “Anyone suspicious?” The armoured woman shook her head, “No. It’s just that I rarely went in here due to my occupation”, she said with a wry smile. “Oh. You know how to use the elevator, then?” The armoured woman slightly snorted, “Of course, I know. Who do you think I am?” she said before pressing the up-arrow button. Meng Huo slightly tilted his head, “Why are we waiting here? Shouldn’t we need to go to the stairs to climb up?” Eru smiled, “You, my friend, have missed out on a lot.”
Right after Eru said that, the elevator rang before the door opened on its own. “Whoa”, Meng Huo’s eyes widened, “What is this sorcery?” he muttered. “You will see a lot more from now on, senior”, the armoured woman smiled before walking inside the elevator. “Fascinating”, Meng Huo said, following the armoured woman inside the elevator, then Eru, Long and Aelgh before the elevator’s door closed.
