I received reports about the worrying situation in Sylphid City, so I decided to check it out”, Evan explained. “But, instead of here, shouldn’t you visit the army first?” Eru asked. “Well, that’s the thing… I did not come here alone”, Evan smiled wryly while scratching the back of his head. “You are not alone?” Eru furrowed his eyebrows. “That’s right. Evan did not come here alone. He’s with me” suddenly, Eru heard a familiar woman’s voice resound inside Alexandro’s office. “This voice—” Eru squinted his eyes. “Yup, it’s me, little brother”, a blonde-haired woman appeared suddenly behind Eru and hugged him tightly.
“Urgh, big sis Angelica, let go of me”, Eru said while struggling. “Oh my, you’ve grown, little brother”, Angelica pinched Eru’s cheek after letting Eru go, “How have you been? Judging by your looks, women should be swimming towards your embrace, right?” Angelica said teasingly while grinning. “Awawawa”, Eru tried saying something but with his cheeks pinched, no sensible words could come out of his mouth. “Ah, you are so cute. As expected from my little brother”, Angelica said with glee. Alexandro, who was watching all of this on the side, was confused and amused at the same time. After a few seconds, Angelica let go of Eru’s cheek before looking at Alexandro. “I’m sorry to suddenly barged into your office like this. Nice to meet you; my name is Angelica, Eru’s big sister and this dork’s twin sister”, Angelica said.
Alexandro furrowed his eyebrows, “Wait a minute. Your name is Angelica, and lord commander’s name is Evan…” he rubbed his chin. Then, suddenly, Alexandro’s eyes widened in surprise, “You two are the Twin Stars of Zephyr?” he exclaimed with his mouth agape. “Yes, people did call us that once upon a time”, Angelica smiled. Evan sighed, “I thought that name was dead and buried.” Eru’s eyes sparkle with interest, “Oh, what’s wrong with that name, brother? Are you embarrassed, Twin Stars of Zephyr?” Eru said while cheekily grinning at Evan. “You say that one more time and watch what I’ll do to you”, Evan gritted his teeth. “I’m sorry, big brother. I won’t say it again, oh, one of the Twin Stars of Zephyr”, Eru smirked.
“You—” Evan grunted, “Come here!” he then proceeded to chase Eru, who was running around in a circle. Watching this, Angelica sighed in exasperation before stomping her foot, “It’s nice to play around and all, but we are not at home, guys”, she said while emitting her mana. Eru and Evan immediately stopped their antics when Angelica emitted her mana, “Yes, ma’am!” they both said in unison before obediently walking behind Angelica. Angelica turned her attention toward Alexandro, “I’m sorry for my brothers’ behaviour. I’ll make sure to discipline them thoroughly” she slightly bowed. Alexandro was slightly taken aback, “T-that’s okay, I don’t mind”, he said.
“Good, I was hoping you would not mind. If it does bother you, please tell me honestly, and I will proceed to erase your memories”, Angelica said with a casual smile. Alexandro’s mouth was wide agape, “Uh, right”, he said while slightly stuttering. “Then, bye”, Angelica waved her staff, and light mana particles surrounded her, Eru, and Evan. In the blink of an eye, Angelica, Eru and Evan disappeared from Alexandro’s vision, leaving only the mess that they made. Eru blinked a few times before realizing that he was in a different place than before. “Is this teleportation? You become an 8th Circle Mage, big sis?” he said with his eyes wide open. “Yeah, it happened quite a few months ago”, Angelica said with a smile, “It’s not quite a big deal.”
“Not quite a bid deal? You are almost as strong as an archmage, and you said that it’s not quite a big deal?” Eru said. “Of course. To our family, it’s a reasonable achievement. Just look at yourself, little brother. A 4th Grade Aura Master at the age of what, eighteen?” Evan said with a smile. “Y-yeah, I guess, but….” Eru slightly lowered his head. “But what? Stop thinking about it and just enjoy it. We are slightly better than normal men and women”, Evan patted Eru on his back. “Oh, I know why you are like that, little brother. You’re jealous, right? After all, from way back then, you wanted to be a mage”, Angelica giggled. Eru sighed heavily, “Of course, I’m jealous. But, I’m also happy and conflicted at the same time. I’m guessing this is how people felt when they saw me powered up quickly, huh?” Eru muttered softly.
“Enough with the gloom and doom”, Evan smiled, “What are you up to, little brother? How did you get into this conspiracy?” he asked. “Before that, where are we?” Eru observed his surroundings. “Oh, this? Angelica’s boyfriend’s mansion”, Evan said casually. “What? You have a boyfriend, big sis? Who is it?” Eru’s eyes sparkle. Angelica pushed Evan to the side before smiling bashfully, “A former colleague of ours”, Evan answered instead, “Our best friend from Zephyr Academy. He was a rising talent like me in the Royal Army. But thanks to his father’s health condition, he chose to move here on his own”, he explained.
Eru had a look of understanding, “Ooh. And where is he now?” Evan crossed his arms, “In his office in the barracks.” Eru squinted his eyes, “Is he someone high up in the army?” Evan nodded with a smile, “Yup. He’s the head general of the army”, he said with a hint of pride in his words. “What!?” Eru exclaimed, “Then he must know about the situation. Why did he do nothing about it?” Eru furrowed his eyebrows. Angelica nodded, “He did. But knowing his personality, he must’ve let this happen on purpose” Angelica sighed. “On purpose? Tch”, Eru clicked his tongue in disappointment. Noticing Eru’s abrupt attitude change, Evan frowned, “What’s wrong, little brother?” Eru sighed, “It’s nothing. Obviously, I don’t know his situation, but the mayor and the demonic cult had wreaked havoc in this city.”
“And I had enough of it”, Eru gritted his teeth. “Little brother—” Angelica looked at Eru with a complicated gaze. “That is why I let them do what they want” suddenly, a foreign voice to Eru resounded in the whole room. “I need to wait for them to show their fangs and then cut them all down”, General Ludwig said with fierce killing intent as he entered the room. “Darling”, Angelica said softly. “Love”, General Ludwig smiled at Angelica. Then, his gaze turned to Eru, “You must be Angelica’s little brother. Nice to meet you; I’m Ludwig, your future brother-in-law”, Ludwig said with a smile while extending his hand at Eru. “Hello”, Eru accepted General Ludwig’s handshake.
“Tch, don’t you think you’re a little too hasty, Lud? After all, if you want to have Angelica’s hand in marriage, you need to defeat our father first”, Evan said after scoffing. General Ludwig flinched before scratching the back of his head, “Yeah, about that part…. You don’t need to remind me”, he said with a wry smile. “Eru, right?” then, General Ludwig’s gaze turned to Eru, “Your brother and sister spoke quite highly of you. I hope that their words are proven true”, he said while looking straight at Eru’s eyes. Not only that, but General Ludwig also sent a targetted pressure towards Eru, making the latter slightly taken aback. However, soon after, Eru ignited his own aura, trying to resist the pressure emitted from General Ludwig.
“Hooh”, General Ludwig’s eyes sparkled as he rubbed his chin, “Not bad, not bad at all. Resisting my pressure like this when he’s still a 4th Grade Aura Master is amazing. Your siblings were right about you”, he praised while smiling. What General Ludwig did not know was that Eru had experience pressure more intense and powerful than his own. Eru’s various experiences fighting against stronger beings had built up resistance against that type of pressure. Eru squinted his eyes while he gathered his raven-coloured aura inside of him. “Ha!” Eru shouted before his aura burst out, cancelling General Ludwig’s pressure on him. General Ludwig was slightly taken aback as he stared at Eru in awe.
“Whoa”, Evan and Angelica had their mouths agape, “Amazing, little brother. Where did you learn how to do that?” Evan asked. Eru sighed while shaking his head, “Why do powerful people have a habit of blatantly releasing their pressure? Don’t you know it’s annoying?” Eru said to General Ludwig with annoyance on his face. General Ludwig chuckled, “Haha, sorry, sorry. But now I know exactly what you are capable of.” He crossed his arms, smiling before leaning backwards into a wall, “Syndra was right. You are amazing. Alright, I’ve decided.” Angelica slightly tilted her head sideways, “Decided on what?” General Ludwig lowered his head before staring straight at Angelica, “That this is the time. The time for the mayor to pay.”
