Chapter 248: Chapter 248
The next day
The Mayor’s Residence
The large man with a curly moustache woke up from his slumber, feeling sore all over his body. “What happened last night?” the large man with a curly moustache massaged his forehead. “All I remember was giving orders to my subordinates, and then everything is hazy. Maybe I’m too tired?” the large man with a curly moustache pondered. “Oh, yeah. I’ve got to call that man in black for tonight. We need this to proceed smoothly in order for us to gain an advantage towards that bastard Alexandro”, the large man with a curly moustache muttered to himself before taking out a small crystal ball underneath his pocket. Then, the large man with a curly moustache inserted a small mana stone inside the bottom of the crystal ball before the crystal ball lit up brightly.
Meanwhile, Zemel was in his room, meditating, when he felt a surge of mana in his surroundings. “Who interrupted me this early in the morning?” Zemel grumbled before standing up. Then, Zemel noticed that his crystal ball was lit up. “Who called me?” Zemel furrowed his eyebrows. When Zemel remembered that the only one who could call him throughout that crystal ball was the large man with a curly moustache, he became wary. “Don’t tell me the guy behind that fat bastard found me already?” Zemel frowned. Then, Zemel took out the crystal ball before heading into a room with many magic circles. “Only three left, but it should be enough for blocking tracking magic”, Zemel softly muttered before injecting mana into the crystal ball.
“What is it?” Zemel asked with his usually hoarse voice. The large man with a curly moustache smiled, and his eyes shone brightly, “Oh, you answered, my lord”, he said cheerily. ‘Huh?’ Zemel’s eyes squinted, ‘Did this guy forget what happened to him yesterday?’ Zemel thought. “My lord, my factions and I are ready to strike anytime. Although there are some inconveniences, we can proceed further with our plans”, the large man with a curly moustache said. “Good”, Zemel nodded. “Oh, yeah, my lord. When are you going to send in that powerful army of yours? My associates and I are waiting. The docks are ready for transport.” Still suspicious inside his mind, Zemel opened his mouth, “Tonight. I’ll send them to the docks tonight.”
The large man with a curly moustache nodded, “Thank you very much, my lord” he bowed slightly. After that, Zemel wanted to ask about yesterday, but he hesitated. “What’s wrong, my lord? Looks like there is something on your mind”, the large man with a curly moustache asked. “Do you not remember what happened yesterday?” after hesitating for a while, Zemel finally asked. “No”, the large man with a curly moustache shook his head, “Apart from reprimanding my subordinates, I did not remember anything.” Zemel pondered for a while before nodding, “Good. Be sure your side is ready. We need this plan to succeed, or else there would be consequences.” After that, Zemel immediately turned off the crystal ball before crushing it with his hand, “What is that guy planning….”
Meanwhile, inside the mayor’s residence, the large man with a curly moustache happily put the crystal ball aside before his eyes glowed blue. “Haha, I did not expect that it would be this easy. Demonic Cult brat, I will be sure to catch you this time,” the large man with a curly moustache said with a sly smile. However, the voice coming out from the large man with a curly moustache was different from his previous voice. “When I do, I will make sure I preyed every single information that you know”, the large man with a curly moustache grinned as his blue, glowing eyes subdued.

“How’s General Ludwig, Syndra?” Alexandro sat in his office, facing his wife, who sat on the sofa, drinking his own created carbonated drink. “He’s willing to help. However, he’s likely going to ask for more benefits after the war”, the armoured woman said while sipping Alexandro’s carbonated water. “That is unavoidable. We will need his cooperation after all if we don’t want the empire to come and press us down”, Alexandro said while leaning back on his chair. “Hopefully, the empire did not have to interfere”, the armoured woman slightly lowered her head. “We need to do this carefully. Like you know, someone from the royal army approached me yesterday” Alexandro stood up from his chair; he took out a glass full of carbonated water and drank it.
“Yeah, Eru’s brother, wasn’t it?” the armoured woman asked. “Yes, surprisingly. However, that’s not what I’m concerned about. If he’s here, the central government might know a thing or two that we did not know, and they are using us to clean up their own mess”, Alexandro said with a heavy tone. “That is more than likely what their plans are. We’ll just have to make do”, the armoured woman said. “Yeah, you are right. This is going to be a make or break. The autonomy of people in Sylphid City depends on us”, Alexandro said while crossing his arms. “Then we’d better make sure we don’t lose”, the armoured woman smiled gently at her husband.
Not long after, suddenly, the door to Alexandro’s office was knocked. “Who is it?” Alexandro asked. “It’s us, guild master”, said a familiar voice behind the door. “Oh, Deddy, May, come in”, Alexandro said before the door to his office opened up. “You call for us?” May asked while closing the door to Alexandro’s office. “I did. How did it go last night, miss May?” Alexandro asked after sitting back on his chair. “It’s all going according to plan. Master Mutatio and the rest of the people of Sylphid are with us, guild master. And once the conflict began, they will create a distraction for us”, May reported after bowing to Alexandro. “Good job, miss May. And Deddy captured a few of those men in a black cloak that you encountered a few days ago. After a while, we should be getting some information from them”, Alexandro informed.
“Syndra”, Alexandro’s head turned towards the armoured woman, “How is your end?” he asked. The armoured woman put down the cup full of carbonated water from her hand on the table, “General Ludwig said we can start whenever we want. He already moved a few of the army forces secretly, away from the mayor and his faction”, Syndra said. “Good, good”, Alexandro repeatedly nodded, “Then, we’ll just have to wait for Eru and Duncan’s party. This is it. Today, all of these are going to end.” Deddy and May had resolute looks on their faces while the armoured woman crossed her arms calmly. “Then, while we waited for them, why don’t we have some more carbonated water?” Alexandro smiled as he offered his own created carbonated drinks to Deddy and May.
Meanwhile, Eru was sitting cross-legged inside of Duncan’s training room, watching Rex and Sydney spar. “Hooh, Sydney, my daughter. You have improved tremendously”, Rex praised while brandishing his sabre at his daughter. “Of course, dad”, Sydney smiled, “It’s all thanks to teacher Eru’s teaching and technique”, Sydney proudly said. At the same time, Sydney used her blade to parry Rex’s sabre before immediately counterattacking. “Is that so?” Rex furrowed his eyebrows. “However”, Rex dodged Sydney’s blade by the skin of his teeth, “It’s still too early for you to scratch your old man.” Rex manoeuvred with his superior agility towards Sydney’s space before hitting her back with the hilt side of his sabre.
“Guh”, Sydney grunted as her body was sent flying backwards just by Rex’s tiny amount of power. “Hah, I bet your teacher did not teach you that”, Rex said smugly while looking at Eru. “You are right; I did not. In fact, apart from my technique, I haven’t taught Sydney anything” Eru stood up slowly. Rex sighed before scratching the back of his head, “Honestly, daughter, I did not know what you’ve seen in this guy. Sure, he’s strong, but whatever he’s qualified to teach is another matter.” Sydney got up, dusting off her clothes; she smiled, “You don’t need to worry about that, dad. Teacher Eru told me himself that I was the first person he taught. Of course, he’s going to be inexperienced, and I will gladly be with him as he improves further.”
After saying that, Sydney turned toward Eru with a gentle look and a radiant smile, making Eru blush a little. Rex grumbled before shaking his head, “Tch, tch, tch. Suit yourself, daughter. Since it was, after all, my fault for not letting you learn the family technique. Since you want to tread this path, you need to see through it to the end.” Sydney nodded, “Yes, sir!” she saluted. “And go look for another man instead of this guy. No matter what happens, I will never teaches him our heirloom technique”, Rex said before leaving Eru and Sydney alone inside the training hall. Eru sighed in exasperation while Sydney giggled softly. Suddenly after Rex left, Long, Aelgh and Meng Huo entered the training hall with Rex and Duncan.
Seeing them, Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “Is it time?” Duncan nodded, “Yes, it is.” Sydney nodded, “Good. I am itching for a fight.”
