Reincarnator’s Adventures – Chapter 249

Chapter 249

Chapter 249: Chapter 249

“Who is it?” Alexandro asked. “It’s us, guild master”, said a familiar voice behind the door. “Oh, Deddy, May, come in”, Alexandro said before the door to his office opened up. “You call for us?” May asked while closing the door to Alexandro’s office. “I did. How did it go last night, miss May?” Alexandro asked after sitting back on his chair. “It’s all going according to plan. Master Mutatio and the rest of the people of Sylphid are with us, guild master. And once the conflict began, they will create a distraction for us”, May reported after bowing to Alexandro. “Good job, miss May. And Deddy captured a few of those men in a black cloak that you encountered a few days ago. After a while, we should be getting some information from them”, Alexandro informed.

“Syndra”, Alexandro’s head turned towards the armoured woman, “How is your end?” he asked. The armoured woman put down the cup full of carbonated water from her hand on the table, “General Ludwig said we can start whenever we want. He already moved a few of the army forces secretly, away from the mayor and his faction”, Syndra said. “Good, good”, Alexandro repeatedly nodded, “Then, we’ll just have to wait for Eru and Duncan’s party. This is it. Today, all of these are going to end.” Deddy and May had resolute looks on their faces while the armoured woman crossed her arms calmly. “Then, while we waited for them, why don’t we have some more carbonated water?” Alexandro smiled as he offered his own created carbonated drinks to Deddy and May.

Meanwhile, Eru was sitting cross-legged inside of Duncan’s training room, watching Rex and Sydney spar. “Hooh, Sydney, my daughter. You have improved tremendously”, Rex praised while brandishing his sabre at his daughter. “Of course, dad”, Sydney smiled, “It’s all thanks to teacher Eru’s teaching and technique”, Sydney proudly said. At the same time, Sydney used her blade to parry Rex’s sabre before immediately counterattacking. “Is that so?” Rex furrowed his eyebrows. “However”, Rex dodged Sydney’s blade by the skin of his teeth, “It’s still too early for you to scratch your old man.” Rex manoeuvred with his superior agility towards Sydney’s space before hitting her back with the hilt side of his sabre.

“Guh”, Sydney grunted as her body was sent flying backwards just by Rex’s tiny amount of power. “Hah, I bet your teacher did not teach you that”, Rex said smugly while looking at Eru. “You are right; I did not. In fact, apart from my technique, I haven’t taught Sydney anything” Eru stood up slowly. Rex sighed before scratching the back of his head, “Honestly, daughter, I did not know what you’ve seen in this guy. Sure, he’s strong, but whatever he’s qualified to teach is another matter.” Sydney got up, dusting off her clothes; she smiled, “You don’t need to worry about that, dad. Teacher Eru told me himself that I was the first person he taught. Of course, he’s going to be inexperienced, and I will gladly be with him as he improves further.”

After saying that, Sydney turned toward Eru with a gentle look and a radiant smile, making Eru blush a little. Rex grumbled before shaking his head, “Tch, tch, tch. Suit yourself, daughter. Since it was, after all, my fault for not letting you learn the family technique. Since you want to tread this path, you need to see through it to the end.” Sydney nodded, “Yes, sir!” she saluted. “And go look for another man instead of this guy. No matter what happens, I will never teaches him our heirloom technique”, Rex said before leaving Eru and Sydney alone inside the training hall. Eru sighed in exasperation while Sydney giggled softly. Suddenly after Rex left, Long, Aelgh and Meng Huo entered the training hall with Rex and Duncan.

Seeing them, Eru furrowed his eyebrows, “Is it time?” Duncan nodded, “Yes, it is.” Sydney nodded, “Good. I am itching for a fight.” Eru crossed his arms, “So, what’s the plan? Have you talked with Alexandro yet, Duncan?” he asked. “I haven’t talked to him directly, no. But we have been communicating with letters”, Duncan replied. “What did he say?” Long asked. “That he needs us to gather inside the Adventurers Guild soon”, Duncan answered, “Oh, and Eru. Alexandro said to tell your brother that we will move most likely tonight.” Eru nodded, “Sure.” Duncan crossed his arms before looking at Rex, “How’s the preparation of our army?” he asked. Rex straightened up his posture, “We are all good and ready. We can close the store anytime”, he said with a straight tone.

“The bunker for the customers?” Duncan furrowed his eyebrows. “All done. All of them are ready for use”, Rex reported. “Beautiful. Once it starts, be sure to lock the building down and prevent anyone else from entering and exiting. I’ll be counting on you to protect my family, Rex”, Duncan said. “Wait, what?” Rex was taken aback by Duncan’s sentence, “I’m staying?” Duncan nodded while smiling, “Yes, you are. If not you, then who will protect my family here? Besides, the people here will be in need of your leadership once the fighting starts.” Rex stared at Duncan, “But, what about you, master Duncan? Surely you’re the one that is going to control the situation here, right?” Duncan shook his head, “Oh no, I’m going to the front lines.”

“What!?” this time, not only Rex, who had his mouth opened but Eru and the rest of the people inside the training hall, except for Long, were gasping. “Are you serious, master Duncan?” Sydney exclaimed. “Please reconsider your decision, master Duncan,” Rex said, “It’s going to be dangerous down at the front lines”, Rex warned. “Rex”, Duncan stared at Rex’s eyes, “When there is something that a man’s got to do, a man’s got to go through it. Whether they liked it or not”, Duncan said with resolution in his eyes. “But, sir—” Duncan extended his hand, “No, but. I’ll be going to the front lines. I’m counting on you to protect my family, my friend”, he said. Rex bit his lips before he sighed, “Fine. You can count on me, sir.” Duncan smiled, “Good. Now, shall we depart?”

After that, Eru, Duncan, Sydney, Aelgh, Meng Huo and Long proceeded to leave the D/D Building. However, on the way, Eru, Long, Aelgh and Meng Huo decided to part ways with Duncan and Sydney. “Then, we’ll go to General Ludwig’s house in the business district. We will meet you in Adventurers Guild after”, Eru said. Duncan nodded, “Be careful. The business district should be the territory of the mayor’s faction. Don’t let yourself stand out from the crowd.” Aelgh smiled, “Don’t worry. With me here, it will take someone on the level of my teacher to notice us walking around.” Sydney took a deep breath, “Then, see you later, teacher Eru”, she said. Then, Duncan proceeded to went ahead to the Adventurers Guild with Sydney walking behind him for his protection.

As Eru watched Duncan and Sydney walk away, he sighed before shaking his head. “Is he going to be alright?” Eru muttered. “Well, he chose to fight by himself. We should commend him for his bravery”, Meng Huo said. Long shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t get humans. Why would he fight with such a weak prowess in his body?” Aelgh smirked at Long, “What, you are worried about him?” Long clicked his tongue, “What? Who said I’m worried about him? Don’t kid yourself”, he said. “Enough clowning around. Shouldn’t we head to this Ludwig’s place of residence?” Long said. Eru, Meng Huo, and Aelgh chuckled at the same time, “Sure, but remember what Duncan said. We need to be careful not to get noticed over there”, Eru warned.

“Surely it should not matter, though”, Aelgh said. She pointed at Meng Huo with her thumb, “Except this one who can’t tuck in his wings, the rest of us should do just fine traversing the business district”, Aelgh said with a small smile. Meng Huo scratched the back of his head, “Can you not expose me, please?” Eru chuckled again, “Alright, alright. However, just in case something happens, Aelgh, please cast a concealment spell on us.” Aelgh grinned, “Already did. I already cast all of us with a concealment spell the moment we left the D/D Building.” Eru did a thumbs up, “Nicely done, Aelgh.” Long furrowed his eyebrows, “When did you— How come I did not notice this?” he softly muttered under his breath.

After that, Eru led Long, Aelgh and Meng Huo toward General Ludwig’s home. General Ludwig’s place of residence is located near the barracks, making it easier for Eru to find. “I think this is it”, Eru said while looking at the manor in front of him. “Hmm, for a general of the army, his place of residence is quite average”, Meng Huo commented. As the party got closer to the door, and just as Eru was about to knock on General Ludwig’s door, suddenly, the front door to General Ludwig’s house opened. “Little brother, how I missed you!” a familiar woman hugged Eru immediately. “Damn it, big sis. You reek of alcohol”, Eru grunted as he tried prying himself away from Angelica’s embrace.
